Stranger Things Books On The Way, Including Prequel Novel

Netflix and Penguin Random House are teaming up to release Stranger Things books, including a prequel novel.

According to Deadline, the prequel, set to release in early 2019, will follow Eleven's mother and the MKUltra Program. Gwenda Bond will write the prequel. Bond has previously written a YA series covering the early life of Lois Lane, who would later develop a relationship with Superman.

Random House will also be releasing a behind-the-scenes book and a hardcover gift book for younger readers, both due out in the fall. The books will be released in the U.S. and the U.K., with international release dates to follow. More books are expected to come out throughout 2019.

Dead or Alive 6 First Hands-On: Can Team Ninja Balance Familiar and Fresh?

When Dead or Alive 6’s producer/director Yohei Shimbori handed us the controller, the first thing we did was mash the punch button. The series’ heroine Kasumi performed a series of familiar open-handed strikes. Our opponent, Zack, tried to punch her in the face, but we were able to successfully time a hold counter attack, and Kasumi twisted Zack’s incoming hand, dropping him to the ground. As soon as he was back on his feet, we executed a throw. Kasumi jumped on top of Zack and mercilessly stamped on his head multiple times. Barely 10 seconds had passed, but it was enough to confirm one thing: This was still the good old Dead or Alive that gamers have come to love since the series’ first entry way back in 1996.

Dead or Alive 6 Announced

A new installment of long-running fighting game series Dead or Alive is coming, IGN can exclusively reveal. Almost seven years after the last numbered title, Dead or Alive 6 is planned for an early 2019 release, coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC via Steam. View the trailer below.

Running on a new engine, Dead or Alive 6 introduces more refined and realistic visual details, including dynamic facial expressions. Characters make a fierce grimace as they execute kicks and punches, sweat covers their body after a combo, and wounds appear when they take damage. The concept art shows a more serious-looking take on series heroine Kasumi, with wounds on her face and a determined look in her eyes. 4K graphics and a drastically improved lighting system should enhance that new image.

How Batman’s ‘Batpoint’ Story Highlights the Tragedy of Booster Gold

Booster Gold has finally found a spotlight in the Rebirth era, care of the most recent arc of Batman, but so far, his long-awaited return has been anything but celebratory. The once famously funny Booster's reappearance has been down right dark.

Warning: beware spoilers for Batman #45 through #48!

The recent three-part story arc "The Gift" (Batman #45 through #48) had Booster attempting to alter the current timeline as a "wedding present" for Bruce Wayne: a life in which his parents were never killed to prove the "value" of the pain that sparked his crusade as the Dark Knight. If that sounds like a terrible idea, that's because it was. (Editor’s Note: Remember Flashpoint? Booster sure didn’t.) In doing so, Booster effectively created a splintered timeline fans have dubbed the "Batpoint" in which all of Gotham became a nightmarish hellscape without Bruce as Batman.

How Rocket League Helped Me Through One of the Hardest Times of My Life

Losing someone close to you can knock you down with devastating effect. It can feel like everything’s crumbling beneath your feet, as you struggle to deal with the knowledge that your last interactions with them were ultimately final.

I went through this experience in a turbulent October and November of 2017 after a close friend passed without warning. Soon after this two pets of mine from home also passed away. It was a one-two punch that sent me reeling, and left me in what was one of the worst emotional ruts of my life.

During this time my room felt more like a prison than anything else. From the outside, it was a quiet, peaceful little area filled with bits and bobs that could keep almost anyone occupied and content. For me, it was my chamber — my area for thought and reflection, and my incubator for thinking about all the opportunities of bonding that’d be missed following my mate’s passing.
