Shadow of War Developer Memorialized With Charity DLC

Middle-earth: Shadow of War executive producer Michael Forgey lost his battle with cancer last year at the age of 43. To help ease the burden on his surviving family, and as a way to honor his enthusiasm for both his work and playing music, WB Games is offering a DLC character in his likeness.

The $5 USD download adds Forthog Orc-Slayer to the game, named after the Monolith band in which Forgey was a member. The Orc-Slayer shows up at random intervals, one-hit destroying whichever Orc your character is currently facing.

You're going to want something with top shelf drama, intrigue, mystery, and spectacle. Maybe not something with dragons specifically because the only other series with a mystical dragon right now is Iron Fist (sort of), but definitely something with scope and breadth.

Here are our humble suggestions of shows for you to absorb during the down time. It's an excellent collection of series that represent some truly tremendous TV. Most of them are newer shows, though you can also check out some of the ones we recommend last year when Thrones went on break, like BSG and Lost.

How Working on Halo Inspired Gearbox to Make Borderlands

Gearbox Software's work on the PC version of Halo: Combat Evolved was instrumental in the creation of Borderlands, according to Gearbox CEO and president Randy Pitchford.

On the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered, Pitchford explained how working with Bungie's game engine to bring Halo to PC led to a new way of thinking that helped the studio invent some of the technology that powers Borderlands.

"It taught us a lot of stuff," Pitchford said of Bungie's engine. "The thing I think was the most profound was how everything was data driven." He added that while it's "totally different architecture" and "different practices," the studio "took that seed of thinking" and "developed a new way of thinking that led to how we invented this technology that lets us procedurally generate all the weapons in Borderlands."
