Michael Pena on Revisiting 9/11 in 12 Strong

No stranger to exploring the tragedy on film, Michael Pena recently explained to IGN why he wanted to return to telling the stories surrounding 9/11, the most devastating terrorist attack in US history, in his new film 12 Strong.

In 12 Strong he stars alongside Chris Hemsworth and Michael Shannon to tell the story of the first U.S. Special Forces team deployed to Afghanistan the day after the events that shook the world.

“I think it's a very important part of American history and something that you hope people don't forget about,” he told IGN. “This is a different part of that history. World Trade Center, the 9/11 movie I did with Nicolas Cage about those two guys trapped underneath all the rubble and then somehow miraculously being saved, that was its own story. This one is about after the towers came down, what these 12 guys volunteered to do literally the following day and how they went into a region that very little was known about.”

Knightfall Star Julian Ovenden Talks About Playing the Villain and a Potential Season 2

Full SPOILERS follow for Season 1 of Knightfall.

Julian Ovenden's portrayal of William De Nogaret on History’s Knightfall is dynamic. After the shocking events of “The Pilgrimage of Chains,” De Nogaret is on the run with his uncle. Without the protection of King Philip and his family, how will the ambitious former advisor survive?

“Well, I don’t want to give too much away, but he’s a capable man,” Ovenden said. “I think he’s the sort of person who likes a problem. I don’t think he considers anything impossible.”

Other successful television series, like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, have villains that are complex and it can be difficult at times to classify them as villains. De Nogaret definitely fits that mold and Ovenden enjoys playing that kind of character.

The Hearthstone Team on Designing Cubelock and Why They Like Big Priest

The most recent Hearthstone expansion, Kobolds & Catacombs, has been in the wild for a while now, and the power level of the meta has never felt this high, with a deck needing incredibly powerful tools and strategies to be viable. At the same time, however, there’s no one deck dominating the game, and several classes have a number of archetypes they can play. So, just how healthy is Hearthstone right now? And what was the thinking behind the design of some of strongest cards and combos from the last set? I caught up with senior designers Peter Whalen and Mike Donais to find out.

IGN: The power level in Hearthstone right now is pretty crazy. Is that solely because it’s the largest pool of cards in the game to date or is it also a reflection of conscious design decisions you guys have made?

Nintendo Labo Lets You Make Cardboard Attachments for Switch

Nintendo has revealed Nintendo Labo, a new line of build-it-yourself experiences that will be compatible with Nintendo Switch and will launch on April 20 in North America, Australia, and New Zealand, and April 27 in Europe.

Starting with cardboard kits, players will be able to build creations that can then be connected to Switch and interact with specific software. According to Nintendo, Labo kits will include modular cardboard sheets "specially designed to interact with the Nintendo Switch" that can be crafted into creations Nintendo is calling Toy-Con.

"For example, you can make a functioning 13-key piano that brings your musical arrangements to life once the Nintendo Switch console and Right Joy-Con controller are inserted," Nintendo explains in the announcement. "As you play, the IR Motion Camera in the Right Joy-Con detects which keys are pressed and plays each note through the console’s built-in speakers. Budding musicians can also experiment with their own musical creations."

The Coolest TVs at CES 2018

If there's one thing CES is known for, aside from ankle blisters for the attendees, it's huge televisions. Every year all the big manufacturers unveil their biggest and most bleeding-edge panels for onlookers to gawk at, at this year was no exception. Though OLED displays ruled the roost there was a decent mix of next-gen display technology on the show floor this year, and of course most of them were unbelievably massive (and expensive). Let's take a look at some of the most mouth-watering panels.
