Nintendo eShop Releases for Switch and 3DS: January 15 – 21
We're officially half way through the month of January with no slowdown of game releases in sight. So IGN has gathered a list of the latest eShop releases of the week for Nintendo Switch and 3DS in North America.
InnerSpace
InnerSpace is an exploration flying game set in the Inverse, a world of inside-out planets where gravity pulls outward instead of in. In the final days of the Inverse, you must help the Archaeologist recover the last remaining memories before they are lost forever. Soar through ancient skies and abandoned oceans to discover the lost history of this fading realm.
Darkest Dungeon
Recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes through twisted forests, forgotten warrens, ruined crypts, and beyond. You'll battle not only unimaginable foes, but stress, famine, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. Uncover strange mysteries, and pit the heroes against an array of fearsome monsters with an innovative strategic turn-based combat system.
Ash vs Evil Dead: Exclusive Season 3 Trailer is Bloody Good
Ash is back, baby -- or, more accurately, Ash is back, with a baby.
Okay, technically that baby is all grown up by the time we meet her, but one of the big themes of Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3 will be our hero's reaction to fatherhood, when long-lost daughter Brandy crashes into his life and immediately becomes a target for Ruby and the Deadites who always seem to show up just when things are going well.
IGN has an exclusive first look at the Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3 trailer, which is full of all the bloody mayhem (plus a pitch-perfect A-ha needle-drop) we've come to expect from Starz's bonkers horror-comedy. Below, we're also debuting the key art for the new season, which demonstrates the scale of this latest threat. (It's big, man.)
Hunt: Showdown Opens Closed Alpha Sign-Ups
Hunt: Showdown - the new bounty hunting game from Crysis developer Crytek - has opened registrations for a closed Alpha testing phase, which will begin on January 31.
A "select group" of gamers will be chosen from the sign-up list and are promised the opportunity to play the game regularly as part of the test group, helping the development team to test "gameplay, balancing and backend functionality", while also providing their own feedback on the game's progress. During the Alpha phase, players are promised that "new weapons, equipment, traits and ranks" will be continuously released and tested, so there should be plenty to keep Alpha testers occupied.
Hunt: Showdown describes itself as a "competitive multiplayer bounty hunting game" that utilises both PvP and PvE elements - during each match, up to 10 players, working either singly or in pairs, are tasked with taking down gruesome monsters and collecting a bounty - at which point they become the target and the attention of every other player turns towards attempting to claim the bounty for their own.

Destiny 2: Bungie Acknowledges Rally Token Throttling
Destiny 2 has once again come under fire for a perceived lack of transparency, after it emerged that Rally Tokens - the currency through which players can increase their standing in their chosen faction - have been capped in a recent update without telling players. Additionally, Bungie confirmed that Faction Rally weapons' absence from loot boxes isn't a bug - these weapons will become available "over the course of the season".
In a post, Bungie explains that the throttle on Rally Tokens was implemented as part of the game's December 12 update; the original intent was to address an exploit where players were able to earn up to 500 tokens an hour by looting chests in quick succession. As it stands now, any player who opens more than two chests in a ten-minute period will not receive any additional rewards for the next ten minutes.
Red Faction: Guerrilla Listed for PS4, Xbox One
If a series of European store listings are to be believed, it would seem another last-gen game is heading for an updated version, with THQ Nordic's 2009 third-person shooter Red Faction: Guerrilla reportedly gearing up for a re-release on PS4 and Xbox One.
As reported on Gematsu, various GameStop stores in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark are listing the game as an upcoming release, although no specific date is listed. The news wouldn't come as too much of a stretch; both the original Red Faction and its sequel have both been ported to PS4 previously. It remains to be seen whether this rumoured release is a port or a remake.
Game Night: Exclusive First Cast Photo
All month long, IGN First is spotlighting the Films to Watch in 2018. Today, we take a look at Game Night, the upcoming dark comedy starring Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Vacation).
In the New Line comedy Game Night, Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams star as a couple whose weekly game night with their friends goes horribly wrong when the fun murder mystery game they think they're playing turns into a very real kidnapping. Jesse Plemons, Kyle Chandler, Lamorne Morris, Billy Magnussen and Kylie Bunbury also star in the film, and we've got a first look photo of the main cast. Check it out right here:
Design Your Own Wizard in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery
If you've ever wanted to create your own wizard-in-training, the new Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is just what you're looking for. The game is the first to let players "experience life as a Hogwarts student."
A mobile RPG, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery lets you "attend classes, learn magical skills, form friendships or rivalries with other students," all of which contribute to the story arc of your custom-made Hogwarts student.
Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and CEO of Jam City, the studio behind the upcoming game, said he " can’t wait to give fans a first look at the game" during A Celebration of Harry Potter later this month. The game will be on display during the event, so fans can get an early taste of their virtual Hogwarts lives.
