Thousands of Fortnite Players Downloaded a Virus-Filled V-Bucks App

Fortnite players looking for an easy way to get a leg-up may want to think twice about how they do it. Game streaming service Rainway detailed in a blog post today how "tens of thousands" of players downloaded an app that infected their machines with a virus.

The app in question promised to freely generate V-bucks (Fortnite's in-game currency) while also delivering an aimbot that would give players an unfair advantage in firefights. Instead, it delivered a "man-in-the-middle" attack that altered webpage requests on users' PCs by adding in tags for an ad service called Adtelligent.

Here’s Why Watchmen Fans Shouldn’t Be Worried About HBO’s Adaptation

This opinion piece contains spoilers for Alan Moore's Watchmen and HBO's The Leftovers.

“Nothing ever ends,” Dr. Manhattan tells Ozymandias at the end of Alan Moore’s seminal graphic novel. Written at the height of the Cold War, Watchmen has only grown in relevance as comic book adaptations have all but taken over film and television in the midst of the United States' own renewed tension with Russia (not to mention a whole mess of other nations). As the current administration keeps showing parallel after parallel to that of Richard Nixon — who is on his fourth term as president when the graphic novel begins — now is the perfect time for an arbiter of great television such as HBO to see how Watchmen works for modern audiences.

10 Best Spider-Gwen Graphic Novels

In another reality, it was Gwen Stacy, not Peter Parker, who became a spider-powered superhero. Referred to as “Spider-Gwen,” this character first appeared as a supporting player in the Spider-Verse event that saw numerous spider-characters teaming up from across the Marvel multiverse to battle the evil Inheritors, but so popular was this Spider-Woman that she went on to star in her own comic series and play a larger role across the Marvel landscape.

With Spider-Gwen having already made her way to video games and television, the last box to check is the big screen, which will happen when she appears in December’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, a loose adaptation of the same comic where she first appeared that stars Spider-Man Miles Morales. While you’re waiting for that film to hit, check out these essential Spider-Gwen reads.

Gamescom 2018 Welcomes Spain as Partner Country

Spain is the official partner country of this year's Gamescom, to be held from the 21 to 25 August 2018 in Cologne, Germany.

Spain is the fourth largest gaming market in Europe (after Germany, the UK and France), and will join as a partner for the first time in Gamescom's history. Spain will enjoy 100 square metres of real estate at Gamescom, and this year both the media and the public will be able to experience the Spanish gaming scene at the show through game demos, talks, workshops, and a 'Games from Spain' guide.

"With Spain we were this year not only able to recruit a partner country for Gamescom that is one of the largest markets in Europe, but also a country with a lively and creative developer scene and games culture," says Felix Falk, managing director of game, the sponsor of Gamescom. "Like everywhere in Europe, and fortunately also in Germany, the Spanish government is currently committed to increased support for the local games industry. Here too, Spain and Gamescom suit one another especially well this year".
