Which Game is Tim Schafer Proudest Of?

Tim Schafer and his team at Double Fine have given us many great memories from Psychonauts to Costume Quest, but when he sat down to chat with us for the taping of IGN Unfiltered (our new interview show which just premiered), we were surprised to find out which of his many hits stood out to him as one of his proudest moments.

“One of things I’m proudest of is Happy Action Theater. Have you ever watched a family playing that together? It’s the most inspiring thing, there’s just so much happiness…little kids laughing…your grandparents playing it…. Then the family dog jumps in.”

He goes on to talk about a bad experience with Kinectimals as the catalyst for Happy Action Theater. Apparently, the setup process that kept his daughter from petting the tiger on screen, and she found getting started so difficult and finicky that it almost drove her to tears. As a result he wanted to create something where “there’s no barrier, everyone just gets in and has fun together.”

Spider-Gwen Mashup Video Puts Emma Stone in Role

What if Emma Stone's Gwen Stacey was bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker?

The folks over at Vulture have put together a mashup video that explores that very question, using footage from both of Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man movies, as well as clips from Birdman and additional dialogue from some of Stone's other work. See it below.

Following Stone and Garfield's pair of web-slinging movies, Sony has decided to once again reboot the franchise, this time with Tom Holland assuming the the role of a very young Peter Parker. The studio will be collaborating with Marvel, as the new Spidey preps for his big-screen debut in Captain America: Civil War next year.

Amell Interested in Batman Beyond Live-Action Movie

Robbie Amell, who plays Ronnie Raymond in The Flash, would love to star as Terry McGinnis in a live-action movie adaptation of Batman Beyond.

"I am a huge fan of that idea," Amell said during a panel at Salt Lake Comic Con, according to DC Comics Movie (via Heroic Hollywood) when prompted by a fan's speculative question.

"I think the problem is because they have Batman going on right now, they won’t make the Batman Beyond movie until I’m too old to be Terry McGinnis," he added. "By then I’ll probably be the old, crusty Batman. But I’m a huge fan of that idea. I think it would be a great property."

New to Netflix for October 2015

As Netflix continues to focus more on its original, exclusive programming, you may notice a slight decrease in notable movies this month (severing ties with Epix is also a contributor). Though Batman Begins and The Bourne Supremacy may satisfy your action movie cravings while Boogie Nights and Million Dollar Baby reach for those looking for more dramatic fare.

TV seems to be the big winner in October though, as most of The CW's programming lands - save for Season 2 of The 100, which isn't premiering its third season until 2016. But You can catch new Arrow, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, along with freshman seasons from hits Jane the Virgin and The Flash. Let's take a look at Netflix in October...

Damon’s Whitey Movie Would’ve Been Like Unforgiven

Black Mass, starring Johnny Depp, beat star Matt Damon and director Ben Affleck's own competing movie about notorious Boston gangster James "Whitey" Bulger to the big screen. With Damon now doing press for The Martian and Black Mass currently in theaters, Boston native Damon has addressed what he and Affleck's Whitey movie would've been like.

Why Finding Water on Mars Matters

Most of my life I’ve taken the hostility of outer space for granted. Textbooks and teachers taught me about an acidic atmosphere on Venus, bone-crushing gravity on Jupiter, frigid darkness on Pluto, and the arid, dead stone of the Martian wastes. I remember standing in the Smithsonian as a child staring at the lifeless landscapes photographed by the Viking missions, red rocky deserts stretching on to the edge of forever. That image cemented an idea which I accepted for a long time to be a matter of fact, that Mars was an inhospitable, empty rock spinning through space. But today I woke up into a universe where water, the most elemental of life-sustaining substances, flows across the surface of Mars.

By writer Mark Waid & artist Fiona Staples | Archie

We've been pretty fond of the new Archie reboot so far. This series hasn't tried to reinvent the wheel when it comes to Riverdale. Writer Mark Waid and artist Fiona Staples have simply taken the characters we know and love, given them a contemporary overhaul and taken a more serialized, story-driven approach to their world.

LG Introduces Ultra Light Gram Laptops

LG has officially entered the U.S. PC market thanks to the debut of its ultra-slim LG Gram laptops.

The laptops, which come in three different variations, come pre-installed with Windows 10, and feature large displays that don't impact the hardware's lightweight design. The 13- and 14-inch models, for example, both weigh in at 980 grams/2.16 pounds (hence the name), making them even lighter than Apple's own 11- and 13-inch Macbook Air, which just had a new release earlier this year. And as reported by The Verge, the LG Gram's 1080p displays are better than those found on the Air, resulting in better visuals at a higher resolution.

Elba: My Trek Villain Has ‘Groundbreaking’ Twist

Star Trek: Beyond star Idris Elba says his villainous role will be different than anything we've seen in the franchise before.

Elba told MTV that while his antagonist's nature will be largely in line with past Trek villains, screenwriter Simon Pegg and his co-writer Doug Jung have written a "very interesting, complex journey" for his character.

"I think Star Trek has prided themselves as being quite classic when it comes to villains, like 'he’s a guy who wants to end the world,' there’s no doubt about that. But in this version of the film, there’s a slightly different twist to that," said Elba. "It’s quite an interesting journey, which I think is groundbreaking for the franchise. But, it still keeps with the 'classic bad guy is a classic bad guy' tone."
