Speculating on the Future of Mad Max

Mad Max: Fury Road is one hell of a ride, but it’s unlikely it’ll be the last cinemagoers see of the lonesome road warrior. While Fury Road didn’t exactly smash records, it did collect a tidy $374 million at the global box office. That’s none too shabby for the continuation of a series whose last film hit cinemas 30 years ago. Writer/director George Miller has already confirmed that there were two sequels born out of the long-gestating Fury Road, so it’s not like the Mad Max creator has run out of ideas for the franchise. On top of that, Tom Hardy has stated that he’s signed on for not two but three more sequels.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at where the series could take Max Rockatansky in the future.

Here’s Who Nathan Drake Was Originally Modeled On

Naughty Dog originally had a very different look in mind for Uncharted's leading man.

Speaking to The Verge, Naughty Dog stalwart Josh Scherr went into some detail on the studio's original vision for Nathan Drake. Drawing off Uncharted's pitch video (which has actually been around since 2014), Scherr explained that the character was originally going to be "based partially on Johnny Knoxville, with a comically emotive face like something in a Dreamworks film."

Fortunately for us, that idea was nixed in favour of a more rugged, realistic look.

Unreleased South Park Video Game Discovered

Gameplay footage of an unreleased South Park video game has surfaced online.

The game was never announced and never revealed by its developer, Buzz Monkey Software based out of Eugene, Oregon, until it was found on an Xbox dev kit that was purchased from a retro gaming expo in Portland.

Original Daredevil TV Scribe Talks Sinister 6 Movie

While chatting with us about his new film The Martian, which he wrote the screenplay adaptation for of Andy Weir's book, filmmaker Drew Goddard also provides some details on his unproduced feature film version of The Sinister Six, a spin-off of Sony's now shelved Amazing Spider-Man franchise that was scrapped when the studio struck their Spidey deal with Marvel Studios.

Goddard also dished a bit on Marvel's Daredevil (he scripted the first two episodes and helped steer the Netflix series overall direction in its first season) as well as rumors about a sequel to his film Cloverfield.

IGN: It’s fair to say that the now shelved Sinister Six was your dream project?

Catherine Coulson, aka Twin Peaks’ Log Lady, Has Passed Away

Sad news for Twin Peaks fans - Catherine Coulson, the show's irrepressible Log Lady (aka Margaret Lanterman), has passed away age 71.

The actress, who had worked with Twin Peaks creater David Lynch since the '70s, was suffering from cancer.

“Today I lost one of my dearest friends, Catherine Coulson", Lynch said in a statement (via Variety). "Catherine was solid gold. She was always there for her friends — she was filled with love for all people — for her family — for her work.  She was a tireless worker. She had a great sense of humor — she loved to laugh and make people laugh. She was a spiritual person — a longtime TM meditator. She was the Log Lady.”

Marvel Releases Avengers: Age of Ultron Gag Reel

To promote the upcoming release of the Avengers: Age of Ultron home video release, Marvel Studios has released a new minute-long snippet of the movie's gag reel.

Like any good batch out outtakes, the video includes gaffed lines, poop jokes and an array of actors pretending to kiss one another. What sets Avengers: Age of Ultron's gag reel apart, though, is the addition of CGI mistakes that made it into the movie-making process. Apparently Mjolnir doesn't always come directly when Thor calls.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray, DVD, Digital SD and On-Demand will be released on October 2nd, and on Digital 3D, Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere on September 8th. Beyond the full gag reel, the release will include deleted scenes, making-of featurettes and audio commentary.

Gambit: Anna Paquin Denies She’s in the Movie as Rogue

Don't expect Anna Paquin to show up as Rogue in Fox's upcoming Gambit solo flick.

Via Twitter,  Paquin replied "no" when a fan asked her if she'd be starring in the movie. Not that her involvement would be out of the question - Paquin is 33, while Gambit star Channing Tatum is 35.

Rogue and Gambit have a (tumultuous) romantic relationship in the X-Men universe, though Paquin's Rogue is involved with Ice-Man (Shawn Ashmore) in Bryan Singer's X-Men movies.

The Gambit solo movie is due to hit theaters in October 2016, but production troubles - including the loss of director Rupert Wyatt - may put that into jeopardy.
