It Cost Marvel Zero Dollars to Get Spider-Man

More details are emerging about last night's announcement that Spider-Man will be appearing in the Marvel cinematic universe. Let's break it down:

  • Marvel isn't paying a dime to Sony for the rights to use Spidey. But the studio won’t receive a cut of the earnings for any of Sony’s Spider-Man films, and Sony won’t get a cut of the Marvel films that feature Spider-Man. (Marvel also controls the merchandising rights to Spidey.)
  • Disney/Marvel reportedly had previously offered Sony "billions" to buy back the character.

Warframe Update Sets Stage for Global Event

Warframe's latest update has arrived on the PlayStation 4, adding new weapons, socialization hubs, and game modes while bringing back an old enemy to set the stage for a major in-game event.

Following on the recent Archwing update that added ship-free space combat, this new addition gives players the chance to hang out in orbiting space stations called Relays. To gain access, a player only has to unlock the planet the Relay orbits.

Eventually Digital Extremes plans to add clan rooms, special merchants, and possibly special quests to the relays, but first players will have to defend them against an attack by Vey Hek and his Balor Fomorian fleet in the “Eyes of Blight” global event, set to start soon after the developers finish stress testing the new systems.

Bag of Moon Swag Found in Neil Armstrong’s Closet

When Neil Armstrong returned to earth, he apparently didn't tell customs about his bag of souvenirs.

The first man on the moon died in 2012 and his widow, Carol, invited a few curators from the Smithsonian to take a look in his closet. What they found was astounding: a bag containing several artifacts from the Apollo 11 mission, including the camera that recorded the whole thing.

"Needless to say, for a curator of a collection of space artifacts, it is hard to imagine anything more exciting," wrote the Smithsonian's Apollo curator Allan Needel in a blog post announcing the find. "In the future, we hope to complete documenting and cataloging the entire collection of items and, as appropriate, to place them on public display."

DC’s Injustice: Year Four Comic Coming in May

Not that this should come as any surprise given the success of the previous three volumes, but DC will be launching Injustice: Gods Among Us - Year Four later this spring. This digital-first comic book will continue to explore the events leading up to popular video game.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Comic Writer Tom Taylor Departs, Brian Buccellato Takes Over

Whereas the current Injustice: Year Three is focused on Batman's alliance with John Constantine and the clash between Superman's forces and the magical realm, Year Four will explore the growing conflict between Superman and the Greek gods. Injustice: Year Three writer Brian Buccellato will again script the series, while familiar artists like Bruno Redondo, Xermanico, and Mike S. Miller will continue to draw the comic.

Neill Blomkamp’s Alien Movie Could Happen

Last month director Neill Blomkamp (District 9) posted some Alien concept art online for a sequel to the beloved series that it seemed he'd hoped to make -- but never got the chance to. But now, the helmer has said that he could still wind up making the film -- and that studio Fox in fact wants the picture.

Blomkamp told Uproxx that he began working on the Alien concept art during post-production on Chappie, which co-stars Alien legend Sigourney Weaver. After the two worked together on the film, Blomkamp envisioned his take on Alien with Weaver back as Ellen Ripley.

The concept art had gone previously unseen by the public, but when the helmer posted some images on his Instagram account he caught lots of positive attention. Check out a couple of samples below:

Finished, Unreleased Ubisoft Game Revealed

That unreleased family game Ubisoft mentioned last year could be called Know Your Friends, a party game initially planned for the Wii U.

The completed game was first hinted at by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot during E3 2014, who said the company was sitting on it until the game's target platform, the Wii U, became "more popular."

According to Nintendo World Report and Unseen64, who first revealed the name, Ubisoft still has no known plans to release the game. We've reached out to Ubisoft for comment.
