Here’s How to Remove Lenovo’s Invasive Software From Affected Laptops

Recently, computer maker Lenovo issued a statement regarding Superfish, a piece of software that came pre-installed on Lenovo laptops between September and December 2014. The software, intended to serve owners of Lenovo laptops with advertisements, has serious potential for misuse as it installs its own trusted security certificate. This means that the Superfish certificate can be used to defeat the entire purpose of secure connections: to prevent bad guys from being able to snoop on encrypted communications.

Weekly Heroics to Get Mandatory Matchmaking in Destiny Update

The forthcoming Destiny 1.1.1 update will be making changes to the sci-fi shooter, the biggest of which being that developer Bungie is bringing mandatory matchmaking to the Weekly Heroic Strike.

On Bungie's Destiny blog, Design Lead M.E. Chung explained why the change is being made.

"We wanted the Weekly Heroics to be a challenge that pushed you and your buddies, but what we observed was that these strikes don’t demand the same cooperation of a cohesive pre-made group," he said. "The overwhelming community response was such that many players didn’t have the numbers on their friends list to experience the activity on a weekly basis."

Nightfall, on the other hand, is going unchanged after the update, because groups attempting the more difficult strike would presumably want to stick together after being kicked back into orbit upon dying.

Warcraft Director Defends Movie’s Use of CGI

Warcraft movie director Duncan Jones has defended the use of CGI in his forthcoming film.

"I hear this 'CGI in film sucks,' mantra again & again," he said on his Twitter page, before going on to say that he thinks of CGI as a "tool" that can have both good and bad results, depending on how it's used.

"It can be done well & it can be done sh**. The best CGI has you forgetting its CGI, and accepting the visual as whatever it is supposed to be. Like props. No one has an issue with 'props' in film, do they?"

Many Warcraft fans are concerned that the film will rely too heavily on CGI. Though star Travis Fimmel, who plays Sir Anduin Lothar, told IGN that he was skeptical initially but that the visual effects were "brilliant" and "amazing" once he'd seen the finished scenes.

Game of Thrones Cast on Leaving the Books Behind

The HBO adaptation of George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones has run out of George R.R. Martin books to adapt. Season 5, due to premiere April 12, will tie up Martin's A Dance With Dragons, the last book available in the series. And without another book coming in the near future, the series creators have to go ahead and make Season 6 without the roadmap they've used for so long.

Of course, Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff and screenwriter D. B. Weiss know how Martin's story ends, and have begun to write to his blueprints. But for the first time, the immediate future is completely unknown. To the Game of Thrones cast, this could either be a terrifying prospect or a liberating one - here's what Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy),  Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), Carice van Houten (Melisandre) and Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) had to say on the matter.
