Fox Looks to Dismiss $250 Million Simpsons Lawsuit
Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation filed a motion in LA Superior Court this week denying that a character on The Simpson is based on another actor's character from Goodfellas. The studio wants the lawsuit "dismissed with prejudice."
Last October, Frank Sivero filed a $250 million lawsuit against the creators of The Simpsons, claiming producer James L. Brooks was “highly aware of who Silvero was, the fact that he created the role of Frankie Carbone, and that The Simpsons character Louie would be based on this character.”
In the 17-page motion obtained by Deadline, Fox "denies that the character ‘Louie’ in the television series was based on Plaintiff or any character that he has ever played."
The Daily Show: Noah Reportedly Frontrunner to Replace Stewart
The Daily Show correspondent Trevor Noah is now considered to be "the most likely candidate" to take over for Jon Stewart as host of the Comedy Central satirical news show.
Deadline reports that they received the tip from a source, but Comedy Central would only respond with, “We are not commenting or providing guidance on any speculation about any individuals.”
Noah toured native South Africa, UK and US as a standup comedian before joining The Daily Show in December 2014 as a contributor. According to his website, Noah was the first South African comedian to appear on both The Tonight Show and the Late Show with David Letterman.
This US Senator Has Appeared in More Batman Films Than Bale
Turns out U.S. Senate hearings can also serve as a source for news on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
BvS star Ben Affleck appeared before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Diplomacy and National Security on Thursday to discuss foreign aid to Eastern Congo (the Oscar winner founded the Eastern Congo Initiative).
During his opening remarks to the panel, Affleck revealed that committee member Senator Patrick Leahy (D - Vermont) appears in Batman v Superman.
See for yourself at roughly the 1:40 mark in this C-SPAN video:
There was reportedly a sequence shot for BvS last summer in Detroit that involved Superman and the United States Capitol building in Washington D.C. This would seem the most likely point for Senator Leahy to make his cameo.
EA Origin Locking Out PCs with Too Many Hardware Configurations
PC gamers who have altered their machine over five times within a 24 hour period might get locked out of Electronic Arts' online service, Origin.
This DRM safeguard was first discovered when a user who was testing out a number of different graphics cards for Battlefield Hardline was locked out of Origin and greeted with the message: "Too many computers have accessed this account's version of Battlefield Hardline Digital Deluxe recently. Please try again later."
We reached out to EA regarding this matter and the publisher provided the following comment: "Origin authentication allows players to install a game on up to five different PCs every 24 hours. Players looking to benchmark more than five hardware configurations in one 24 hour period can contact our Customer Support team who can help."

Home Rockets Ahead of Get Hard at the Box Office
The struggling DreamWorks Animation received some good news this weekend. Their latest release Home debuted atop the domestic box office with an estimated $54 million, ahead of the studio's last Fox-released pic, How to Train Your Dragon 2 ($49.5 million).
The star power and social media reach of Home's voice talent -- Rihanna, Jim Parsons and Jennifer Lopez -- as well as an aggressive marketing campaign paid off for DWA, which had a truly lousy 2014.
The new R-rated comedy Get Hard also performed well. The Will Ferrell-Kevin Hart flick debuted in second place with an estimated $34.6 million, making it the highest R-rated opening in both Hart and Ferrell's careers.
The acclaimed horror film It Follows expanded into wider release this week for a fifth place finish of $4 million.
