Oddworld Dev: Original Xbox Initially Intended for Casual Gamers
In the early days of Xbox, after Microsoft was turned down by Sony, the company not only considered going after the casual gaming market, but also toyed with the possibility of giving the box away to consumers.
"At the time, Xbox thought that the core market was going to be casual. They were going to be the casual gamers' machine," Oddworld Inhabitants' Lorne Lanning told GamesIndustry.
Interestingly enough, Microsoft was hoping Lanning's studio could turn Oddworld into the Xbox's Mario competitor. "Now, that's why they approached us because they said 'we think you've got something that competes in that Mario space and we think Mario's the thing to kill... We see that space. We want that audience. We love Oddworld so why don't you get on this bandwagon?"

DeNA Expects Nintendo on Mobile to Make Over $25 Million Each Month
DeNA, Nintendo's new partner in the mobile space, expects to make over 3 billion yen (approximately $25 million USD) each month on software staring characters from the company's cherished IP.
"We haven't talked to Nintendo about targets, but at DeNA, our best-selling game brought in 3 billion yen a month, and we want to surpass that," DeNA Chief Executive Isao Moriyasu told Reuters.
Moriyasu also explained that the company isn't looking to score big with just a single hit. Instead, he'd like to see a swath of successful Nintendo games released for mobile devices. "We want to create games that will be played by hundreds of millions of people," Moriyasu said. "We want to create multiple hit games rather than aiming to succeed with just one powerful IP element."
Behold … Artoo in Love
Everyone's favorite astromech droid R2-D2 stars in the charming new fan-made short film titled "Artoo in Love."
Evan Atherton directed the fan film, which he made with the R2 Builders' Club.
According to ABC, "Atheron also managed to recruit Lucasfilm effects artist Landis Fields, who took a break from The Force Awakens to help out with some of the more complicated effects."
'Artoo inLove" debuted at the Sonoma Film Festival.
The Flash: New Trailer Reveals Another Arrow Crossover
A new trailer at the end of this week's episode of The Flash, promoting the remaining episodes of Season 1, revealed the show has a new Arrow crossover very soon.
We knew Arrow characters Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) and Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) would be coming to The Flash soon, but as the trailer shows, not only is Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) also appearing, but so is Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) himself - and considering he can be seen standing next to Firestorm (Robbie Amell) and The Flash (Grant Gustin) at one point, it seems we have a pretty notable superhero team-up coming.
The trailer has a lot more to check out, including our best look yet at Gorilla Grodd.
