Furious 7 Breaks New Record
After today's ticket sales, Furious 7 has passed $1 billion, marking the quickest initial rise in box office history.
It took 17 days for Furious 7 to reach the new milestone –– The Avengers, Avatar and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 all crossed the same mark, but it took them 19 days to do so. Furious 7's total global sales are estimated at about $1.009 billion, with $735 million in overseas tickets, and $274 million in North America.
Last weekend, Universal announced that Furious 7 was the fastest-grossing entry in the Fast and Furious series within 10 days of its debut, with $60.6 million in its second weekend. The second-best grossing in the series, 2013's Fast & Furious 6, passed $238.7 million in domestic sales.
Justice League: Gods & Monsters Gets Comic Prequel
DC has revealed that they'll be publishing a comic book prequel to their upcoming animated movie Justice League: Gods & Monsters. This digital-first series will explore these new versions of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman before the events of the movie. While most stories will have a solo focus, the comic's final storyline will detail the formation of this world's Justice League.
No writer has been announced for the prequel, though DC did reveal that Thony Silas will draw the series and Francesco Francavilla will provide covers. Check out a preview of the first issue:
In case you missed our trailer debut on Tuesday, Justice League: Gods & Monsters is a new direct-to-DVD movie from producer Bruce Timm (one of the driving forces behind Batman: The Animated Series and its various spinoffs). The film takes place in an alternate universe where very different and more brutal versions of the DC Trinity have risen to power. The film will feature the voice talents of Michael C. Hall as Batman, Benjamin Bratt as Superman and Tamara Taylor as Wonder Woman.

Olivia Munn May Have Revealed Her Psylocke Costume
Just days after it was revealed that she had been cast as Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, actress Olivia Munn took to social media to show off what might be her costume for the movie.
In a posting on her Instagram account, Munn captioned the photo, "If the latex fits…"
While that's not definitive proof it's Munn costume in the movie, the design certainly suggests it's her Psylocke wardrobe.
2 Familiar Faces to Return for Independence Day Sequel
Both Bill Pullman and Judd Hirsch will be returning for the upcoming Independence Day sequel, director Roland Emmerich has confirmed.
Emmerich made the announcement in a pair of posts on Twitter, each of which accompanied by a photo of the actor in his respective role from the original film. Here's a look at Hirsch, who played Julius Levinson in ID4.
Princess Leia Wreaks Havoc On-Stage
Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) took the stage at Star Wars Celebration during her panel today, and while she didn't answer too many big questions or make any major announcements, she did put on quite the performance.
Fisher, accompanied by her French Bulldog, Gary, talked everything from Princess Leia's iconic hair taking two hours to style in the mornings, to the time she and Harrison Ford partied with the Rolling Stones at Monty Python comedian Eric Idle's house.
Star Wars Battlefront Novel Coming in November
In the wake of numerous Star Wars announcements, news emerged about a Star Wars Battlefront novel called Twilight Company.
Twitter user Le Jedi Lorrain Tweeted a placeholder image for the book's cover. It's set for a Nov. 3 release date from Del Rey Books, which also posted an image for the project on Instagram. Alexander Freed, writer for Dark Horse Comic's Star Wars: The Old Republic and former writer for Mass Effect developer BioWare, is penning the novel.
Lucas Till Will Return as Havok in X-Men: Apocalypse
Director Bryan Singer confirmed via Twitter today that actor Lucas Till will reprise his role as Havok in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Till played Havok in both X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, the latter of which saw Havok serving in the Vietnam War as a military test subject for then-Major William Stryker.
It should be noted that Singer has previously said that, although they are brothers in the Marvel comics, Havok and Cyclops aren't siblings in the movies. Tye Sheridan (Mud) will play young Cyclops in the 1980s-set X-Men: Apocalypse.

Below is an analysis of that trailer combined with the 7 minute-gameplay demo (running on a PS4) IGN saw behind-closed doors at Star Wars Celebration, and of course, the usual sprinkling of speculation.
00:02 – A Star Destroyer looms over the forest moon of Endor. From speaking to Patrick Bach, we know we won't be able to pilot them, so it's probably just there to lend atmosphere and a sense of scale to battles, though towards the end of the trailer there's a suggestion it might be more directly involved.
