Will Windows 10 Unlock Achievements for Everything?
Xbox Live integration in Windows 10 could mean achievements will be a thing of plenty.
During today's Build conference, the integration of Xbox Live into Windows 10 was shown off in a flight-sim web application. During the demonstration, the controls were ignored and the single-propeller plane flew freely and without incident. Doing so unlocked the achievement "Do Nothing."
The Xbox Live integration was shown in the other direction, with a desktop Fitbit app running on the Xbox One. The demonstration there was to show only how the UI on desktop and Xbox One were identical, but with Windows 10 being Microsoft's universal platform, and the company's own estimates that Windows 10 will be on 1 billion devices, does this mean achievements will be everywhere?
Silent Hills Petition Urges Kojima To Continue Game
This week was a sad one for Silent Hill, but now there's a petition trying to change that.
After a rumor about Silent Hills' cancellation started making the rounds early in the week, partially due to the removal of P.T. from the PlayStation Store, Konami officially came out and confirmed: Silent Hills is cancelled.
Despite assuring fans that it's "committed to new Silent Hill titles," Konami's mysterious Silent Hills, the collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, is over.

Valve: Devs Can Permanently Ban Cheaters on Steam
In an effort to reduce the number of players who may be cheating during online games, Valve has now given game developers the ability to permanently ban "disruptive players" from their games.
MCV discovered this earlier today after spotting it on the Steam Community.
"Playing games should be fun. In order to ensure the best possible online multiplayer experience, Valve allows developers to implement their own systems that detect and permanently ban any disruptive players, such as those using cheats," the official post reads.

Microsoft Facial Recognition Software Can Guess Your Age
During the Build 2015 conference, Microsoft showed off its facial recognition software that can make an educated guess at your age.
Microsoft's Joseph Sirosh showed off the How-Old.net website by loading a few photos, including the Mona Lisa, and letting the cloud software work its magic to instantly return an age range. The software showed Mona Lisa's age as 23, which is fairly accurate based on what we know of the model in the famous painting.
Sirosh then invited everyone watching the stream to visit the site and try it for themselves.
The purpose of the demonstration was to provide a jumping-off point for a discussion of cloud-hosted APIs and how Microsoft's software can use the cloud to analyze large amounts of data quickly and easily. But you catch more flies with honey than vinegar, so the cool little site was the hook to people's attention.

Is Microsoft HoloLens Ready for Prime Time?
Microsoft's Build conference for developers is in its second day, and one thing is clear: Microsoft wants you to know that Windows 10 is a "universal platform," and as such, HoloLens "is Windows 10."
First revealed at the Windows 10 Live Event in January, Microsoft's headset took a route different from other comparable headsets like Oculus Rift by augmenting reality rather than replacing it. And the company has been eager to show off what it sees as its potential strengths over VR or traditional input methods.
During a demonstration yesterday of the device, many hypothetical uses for the device were shown off, all of which fell into the "universal" and collaborative philosophy Microsoft has been touting since the beginning of its conference. An architecture firm was shown using the device to map out and share plans for a building, all supported by the robust Azure API, of course.

Power Rangers Movie Release Date Pushed to 2017
Originally scheduled to hit theaters July 22, 2016, Lionsgate and Saban's upcoming Power Rangers film has been pushed to January 13, 2017. Lionsgate didn't provide a reason for the delay.
Here's the official synopsis for the film:
"From a story by Executive Producer Roberto Orci (Transformers, Star Trek, Amazing Spider-Man 2) and screenwriters Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (X-Men: First Class, Thor) comes a modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world."
Earlier this month a report surfaced stating Project Almanac director Dean Israelite is in talks to helm the film.
