California Reverses Ban on Electric Skateboards
California made a lot of electric skateboard owners very happy over the weekend by deciding to make the motorized devices legal to use in public.
As reported by the Wall Street Journal, California Governor Jerry Brown sign a bill this past Sunday that effectively reverses a ban that was issued in 1977 as a way to keep such creations off of the streets. The bill doesn't go into effect until January 1, 2016, however, so be sure not to rush out with your motor-skateboard before then.
Brown isn't the only person California residents should be thanking (or booing?), though. California assemblywoman Kristin Olsen was the one that introduced the bill following discussions with Intuitive Motion, creators of such electric skateboards. Their argument: electric boards in use today are very different from the ones that prompted the original ban - they're quieter and more environmentally friendly.
Resident Evil Team Focusing on Virtual Reality
Virtual reality will be a major focus at Capcom going forward, as the publisher has confirmed its Development Division 1 team, the studio behind the Resident Evil franchise, is invested in the technology.
"At present, we are focusing our energy on challenging the virtual reality (VR) game market," Capcom explained in its Integrated Report 2015 (via GamesIndustry). "In this terrifying world, you can twist and turn as you like, but there's no escaping the creatures closing in on you...until you remove your VR headset and return to reality, that is.
Spielberg Talks Indy 5/Harrison Ford’s Return
Famed director Steven Spielberg has once again mentioned Indiana Jones V, teasing Harrison Ford's likely involvement in the series' fifth installment.
In an interview with Yahoo! Movies to promote his new film Bridge of Spies, starring Tom Hanks, Spielberg made light of the fact that he often works with the same leading men in his films, going on to joke that he'll probably look to Harrison Ford to star in Indy V.
"Now, I’ll probably do an Indy V with Harrison, so then it’ll be five for Harrison, four for Tom," he said.
Earlier this year, we heard rumblings that Spielberg was eyeing Chris Pratt to take up the mantle from Harrison Ford. Pratt has since responded to the casting rumors, saying "it’s nothing until it’s something."
Mattel Reportedly Developing Dino-Riders Movie
Mattel is reportedly looking to revive the late 1980s cartoon and toy franchise Dino-Riders as a feature film.
According to The Tracking Board, Mattel is teaming up with Solipsist Films for Dino-Riders, looking to take a bite out of the success of Transformers (and probably Jurassic World, too). Solipsist's Alissa Phillips and Stephen L’Heureux are serving as producers on the film.
Dino-Riders had a short run as a cartoon series, with only 14 episodes ever produced. The show and franchise is about two futuristic races — the good Valorians and evil Rulons — who end up on a prehistoric earth, using dinosaurs in their war.
Street Fighter 5 Last Classic Character Not Limited to SF2
Capcom has hinted at the possibility Street Fighter V’s final classic character in the launch roster might not come from Street Fighter II.
Speaking with Outerhaven Productions at New York Comic-Con (around the 10 minute mark in the video), Street Fighter V Brand Director Matt Dahlgren wouldn’t reveal any details on upcoming characters, but did make the distinction that a classic character could come from another game.
“I’ve said multiple times, the way we handle our roster, 16 playable characters to start,” Dahlgren said. “Eight of them are classic characters. Four of them are ones you haven’t really seen in a while and have been reimagined and then four brand new.”

Apple Launches New 4K & 5K iMacs
The rumors surrounding a new iMac with a 4K display can finally be put to bed, as Apple today launched not just a 21.5-inch 4K iMac, but an updated 27-inch 5K iMac as well.
The pair of desktop computers feature more powerful processors and graphics, in addition to two Thunderbolt 2 ports, which will now be the standard for all iMac models moving forward. They'll both also utilize OS X El Capitan, and a reworked Fusion Drive that aims to be more affordable by pairing different hard drive sizes with flash memory. Want to combine a 1 TB hard drive with 24 GB of flash memory? You can do that; 2TB and 3TB hard drives paired with 128GB is also an option.
