Mark Millar Returns to Marvel With New Book “Empress”

Mark Millar is returning to Marvel. The Kick-Ass creator is teaming with artist Stuart Immonen to bring out Empress under Marvel's Icon imprint.

Millar will own the series, which he describes as a "big, fun, bombastic space opera." It's planned for a start in April, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and will have three arcs of six issues.

Empress will focus on the wife of a galactic dictator who flees her husband and travels with her three children back to her homeworld. Her homeworld is Earth, but Earth 65 million years ago.

Under his Millarworld banner, Millar will team up again with Sean Gordon Murphy for Chrononauts 2: Futureshock, scheduled for July 2016, and also is working on two other creator-owned projects, according to Newsarama. One project will be with Jae Lee, and the other will Greg Capullo.

We Paid a Guy to Play a Bunch of N-Gage Games

Nokia's ill-fated N-Gage was, and still is, a weird little gadget to behold. An awkward halfway house between mobile phone and handheld gaming system, the taco-shaped handset was undeniably a mobile gaming trailblazer – albeit one with horrible controls and bewildering design choices. Nokia’s early emphasis on mobile gaming was spot-on, but virtually every other decision the Finnish company made regarding the device was a comedy of errors.

I was a proud N-Gage owner back in the day, and I decided to dig it out to see how it stands up in 2015 – 10 years on from its official discontinuation. I managed to track down and playtest 28 of the N-Gage’s 58 released games, all for your entertainment. Pray for me.

The Player Order Reduced to 9 Episodes

The episode order for NBC's The Player has been cut from its initial 13 episodes down to just nine.

According to TheWrap's report, the Thursday night drama staring Wesley Snipes has struggled to gain traction, debuting to an underwhelming 1.2 rating and slipping even further to 0.7 for its latest episode, with a total viewer count of 4 million.

While NBC isn't completely pulling it from the schedule and seems set to air all nine produced episodes, this is essentially the network's way of canceling the show. New series hope to get a a back-nine order, bringing them to a full 22-episodes, but since The Player isn't even completing its initial 13, the writing is pretty much on the wall for the struggling show.

Why Jessica Jones Will (Probably) Be Better Than Daredevil

Marvel’s Daredevil show on Netflix enjoyed quite a bit of praise from fans and critics when it debuted in April of this year, giving ol’ Horn Head the same dark, violent, and smart story that made him so beloved in the comics. But for their follow-up, Marvel isn’t showcasing another costumed hero, they’re going with Jessica Jones, a character that might even make some comic fans go, “Who?” Rest easy, because if her upcoming Netflix show is as good as her comic, then it will be even better than Daredevil.

Not that Daredevil is low in quality by any stretch of the imagination. Jessica Jones will have to be pretty darn good to top it, but I have a feeling that it will because the source material -- Alias by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos -- is one of the best comic books I’ve ever read.

Oxenfree Release Window Revealed

Supernatural adventure game Oxenfree is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 in January 2016, Night School Studio and Microsoft announced today.

The idea of Oxenfree is to "play a coming of age story where you determine how the protagonist comes of age. Then set it all against a ghost story," studio co-founder Sean Krankel said in an interview with Xbox Wire. "It's like Freaks & Geeks set against this super-f***ed-up phenomena,” Krankel told IGN earlier this year.

Oxenfree is the first game from Night School Studio, which is headed up by ex-Telltale and ex-Disney developers. The voice cast includes Erin Yvette (The Wolf Among Us, Tales from the Borderlands) and Gavin Hammon (The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us).
