Umbrella Academy Comic Getting Live-Action Adaptation
A live-action TV series based on Gerard Way's graphic novel, The Umbrella Academy, is coming to Netflix.
The streaming giant announced it has ordered a ten-episode season of The Umbrella Academy that will debut in 2018. Here's a synopsis of the upcoming series, courtesy of Netflix:
"The Umbrella Academy is a live action series that follows the estranged members of a dysfunctional family of superheroes (The Umbrella Academy) -- The Monocle, Spaceboy, The Kraken, The Rumor, The Séance, Number Five, The Horror, and The White Violin -- as they work together to solve their father’s mysterious death while coming apart at the seams due to their divergent personalities and abilities."
Luke Cage: Season 2 Premiere Will Be Directed by Lucy Liu
The Season 2 premiere of Marvel's Luke Cage will be directed by Lucy Liu, Marvel Television and Netflix have announced.
In addition to starring in a number of films, including Kill Bill as O'Ren Ishii and Charlie's Angles as Alex Munday, Liu helmed the 2011 short film Meena, as well as four episodes of Elementary and an episode of Graceland.
"She brings the same buoyant intensity, deft humor, and singular focus to her directing that she has always brought to her acting....not to mention the fact that the former 'O'Ren Ishii' certainly knows her way around an action sequence," Luke Cage showrunner and executive producer Cheo Hodari Coker said of Liu.
Season 2 of Marvel's Luke Cage will premiere sometime next year, and will star Gabrielle Dennis and Mustafa Shakir in villainous roles.
How Mass Effect and Skyrim’s Character Creators Let You Tell Your Own Story
Mass Effect Andromeda's character creator, much like many character creators before it, is atypically lit, meaning that characters may look different in the bulk of the game compared to the way they looked when first lovingly crafted. You know the deal: you stand in a blue and black void, a single light source coming from everywhere and nowhere simultaneously lights your character in a dim orange glow. You dedicate countless hours to crafting your character’s face, only to get into the game itself and find scars are deeper, makeup more exaggerated, teeth more prominent and skin tone notably lighter or darker than intended. It’s time to dejectedly close the game and start over.
TimeSplitters Fan Project Stalls Due to CryEngine Problems
Development on the fan project TimeSplitters Rewind, the Crytek-approved multiplayer compilation of the first three TimeSplitters games, has stalled.
The developers behind the community-led project announced in a blog post that, due to issues with CryEngine, they're currently unable to work on the project with any momentum. "What takes us a few minutes in another engine took us up to four days in CryEngine," reads the post.
The team has been waiting for Crytek to release necessary CryEngine updates, which would change "the core systems of the engine," for over four months now.

Witches Confront Police Corruption in New Comic
Move over Scarlet Witch, Hermione Granger and Elphaba, there are some new witches in town. The upcoming Redlands comic series from Image Comics tells the story of three witches who take over as law enforcement in a small town in Florida.
“Redlands was born out of anger and heartbreak after watching the film The Seven Five,” series writer Jordie Bellaire told IGN in an interview, referring to the documentary about police corruption in the New York Police Department in the 1980s. “I already had a witch story I was kicking around in my mind but after watching The Seven Five and taking note of the very broken law enforcement system across the USA, especially in Florida, the story began to develop quickly.”
Aladdin: Power Rangers Star Naomi Scott Eyed for Jasmine
While Disney is struggling to find the male lead for its upcoming live-action Aladdin movie, the studio is reportedly interested in casting Naomi Scott as Jasmine.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott—who starred as Kimberly (aka the Pink Ranger) in this year's Power Rangers movie—and Indian actress Tara Sutaria are being eyed for the female lead. However, a deal can't be signed until the studio selects an actor to play Aladdin, as they want to ensure there's chemistry between the two.

New Arms Mode Coming in Tomorrow’s Update
Arms is getting a new versus mode in tomorrow's update.
In an interview with Eurogamer, producer Kosuke Yabuki revealed that the new mode will allow players to fight as the game's biggest baddie, Hedlok.
Two or three players will battle over a Hedlok mask during a match. Whoever gets the mask first can then turn their character into Arms' final boss. "If one player turns into Hedlok it'll be up to the other players to take him down," said Yabuki.
The Hedlok mode won't be limited to only 1v1 matches, as it will be available online and in all multiplayer modes. As previously announced, the update will also feature the new playable fighter Max Brass.
Worlds Adrift Is a Riveting Sky-Pirate Adventure
We knew it was probably game over when the wind yanked the compass off our airship's dashboard and flung it into the cloudy wastes below. Frankly, very little was going according to plan. I was on a developer-made airship in the upcoming survival MMORPG Worlds Adrift, a game about crafting airships and using them to explore numerous floating islands, and by rights we should have sailed through the storm wall we'd intentionally entered as smoothly as butter. New islands awaited if we could only make it to the other side! New adventures and resources! But no. We lost our bearings, even though the developers did their best to repair the sails and engines by grappling heroically to the underside of the ship in the midst of the storm. Our vessel was a mess, and somehow we found ourselves on the same side of the storm we'd gone through.
