Most fans of powerful PCs have a negative opinion of security utilities designed to protect against viruses and malware, and it's based on past trauma. We all remember annoying pop ups, system slowdowns, false positives, constant reminders to update, and our parent's or grandparent's computer being ruined by McAfee and Norton. Those were bad times, caused by bad software.
NVC: Metroid, Metroid, Metroid
Welcooooooome to episode 372 of Nintendo Voice Chat, our weekly talk show for all things Nintendo Switch and 3DS. Brian, Zach, and Peer are back from PAX -- and thanks in part to extended flight delays, had plenty of time to play Metroid: Samus Returns while waiting on the tarmac. But we also invited Sam to give his perspective of Nintendo's first proper Metroid game in seven years (nope, we're not counting that other one). We've invoked the name "Metroid" on this show so many times, we're still getting used to the fact that we're this close to the return of the franchise. If you haven't watched NVC before, this may be a good time to jump in.
Join Brian Altano, Zach Ryan, Peer Schneider, and Samuel Claiborn for much Metroid talk, a rundown of the latest games available for Switch and 3DS, and, of course, what it means that Rockstar is creating a version of L.A. Noire for Nintendo Switch. See, Metroid -- you don't have to feel bad. It's been eight years since we've seen Rockstar anywhere near a Nintendo console!

The creators behind Rocket League were “utterly flabbergasted” the first time they saw players dunk the ball into the goal from off the wall.
On the second episode of IGN Expert Mode, Psyonix Studios design director Corey Davis discusses one of the coolest skills that players came up with for Rocket League.

Note: Since so many of these games are still in development, the platforms and release dates listed below are subject to change.
Kid Lobotomy Brings Horror and Madness to IDW
Editor Shelly Bond was a driving force of DC's Vertigo imprint for decades, which is why it was so disappointing to see her let go by DC as part of a larger restructuring of Vertigo in 2016. But Bond is hardly absent from the comics scene. She's found a new home at IDW Publishing, where she's spearheading a new mature readers imprint called Black Crown.
Kid Lobotomy will be the first Black Crown comic to see the light of day. Written by Peter Milligan (Shade, the Changing Man) and drawn by Tess Fowler (Rat Queens), this unusual new horror series focuses on a very dysfunctional family who run a hotel crawling with ghosts and other oddities.
PUBG to Use Sea of Thieves’ Water Tech
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will improve the look of its water thanks to Sea of Thieves.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, PUBG's creator Brendan Greene revealed that the popular online battle royale game will now be using Rare's "great water tech" in Sea of Thieves, thanks to Bluehole Inc.'s partnership with Microsoft to publish the game on Xbox One.
said they loved the game, they play it a lot, but, 'Oh, you're
water.' I mean, our water is not very good, but Rare has great water tech. They said, 'We should share some knowledge.' That's a great thing about being part of a network of studios," Greene said. "We can get that water tech, essentially for free, and we can share stuff with them.
Overcooked on Nintendo Switch Patched to Fix Framerate
Developer Ghost Town Games has released the first of two planned patches for Overcooked: Special Edition on Nintendo Switch.
As detailed in the developer's post, the first patch is now live and addresses various different issues, including the framerate and rumble problems that many players have run into.
IGN encountered these same issues in our review of the Switch port, saying these problems keep the port "from matching the best versions available."

The New York Times reports that information of possibly 143 million Americans, including Social Security and driver's license numbers, may have been compromised in the hack, affecting a third of the country's population in what may be one of the nation's largest data breaches ever. The Times states that hackers would also have access to basic information like names, birthdays, and home addresses, while a reported 209,000 Equifax customers had their credit card numbers stolen.
