Exploring Assassin’s Creed Origins Vast, Exciting World
Assassin’s Creed Origins has the potential to be my next video game addiction. Let me explain.
This has happened twice so far in 2017. The first time was with Persona 5, which I ended up sinking nearly 100 hours into over the course of three weeks. I couldn’t tear myself away from its depiction of Tokyo, and the bonds I was forging with the characters that inhabited it. I wanted to learn everything there was about the people, places, and things in its world.
The second was more recent, with Destiny 2, but for very different reasons. With Bungie’s sequel, my inability to turn the game off stemmed from its constant IV drip of rewards and progression. I’d heard countless people talk about this over the past three years at work – the Fireteam Chat crew knows this all-too-well. But somehow, it finally hit me with Destiny 2, and for a solid two weeks, I was all-in.
Call of Duty: WWII – 9 Things We Want Fixed Before Launch
Call of Duty: WWII takes the series back to the semi-modern warfare of the Second World War for the first time since 2008’s World at War, but in abandoning the franchise’s increasingly futuristic trajectory, the gameplay has had to change. Exoskeletons and nano-bot-fuelled superhuman advanced movement is gone, which decreases player escapability. An arsenal of familiar weapon categories play to their expected ranges (for the most part), instead of the lasers and other bizarre sci-fi shooters of recent titles. Amid the return to a focus on shooting trumping abilities, I have some quibbles with what I experienced in the recent multiplayer beta.
Here’s a list of nine things that developer Sledgehammer Games should consider tweaking or changing before the final release of Call of Duty: WWII on November 3.
New Halloween Movie Will Ignore All the Sequels
Legendary horror filmmaker John Carpenter has revealed that the new Halloween reboot will ignore all the sequels.
In an interview with Stereogum (via Entertainment Weekly) Carpenter has explained why Jamie Lee Curtis's character Laurie Strode will appear in the film after being killed by Michael Myers in Halloween: Resurrection.
Carpenter explains that the reboot is "almost an alternative reality" in that "
Rian Johnson Explains How Lucasfilm Decides What to Spoil in Star Wars Trailers
Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson gave a bit of insight into how Lucasfilm discerns between what to and what not to spoil.
After warning fans to stay clear of the new Star Wars trailer (which went live yesterday) to avoid spoilers, Johnson explained part of the decision-making process during an interview with Yahoo Entertainment.
Microsoft: No Free Kinect Adapter with Xbox One X Upgrade
Microsoft will not be offering free Kinect adapters for those who purchase an Xbox One X as it initially did for those who upgraded to an Xbox One S last year.
"We provided free adapters for a good part of last year following X1S launch, but that program has ended," Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft's head of Xbox games marketing, said on Twitter. Xbox One X owners looking to use Kinect can still purchase the adapter, which retails for $40 USD.
With the launch of Xbox One S, Microsoft did away with the requisite Kinect port on the back of each console, rendering the peripheral useless without an adapter. To remedy this, Microsoft offered the adapter for free to anyone who upgraded to the S model. However, as Greenberg revealed, that program will not be reinstated for the launch of Xbox One X, as it had already even ended for Xbox One S purchasers.

Thor: Ragnarok Director Won’t Whitewash Akira Movie
Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi confirmed to IGN that he has been approached about directing a live-action feature film adaptation of Akira, but he was coy and non-committal about whether he would.
He confirmed there had been "talks" but alternated between speaking about the project in the past and present tense even as he also offered his thoughts on his approach to adapting the material and casting the film.
When I asked Waititi if he was going to direct Akira, he replied, "I am -- that was more or less a rumor. There was, I mean, I was in talks to do that, for sure, and something that I was very passionate about -- am passionate about."
Apple Picks Up Series From Steven Spielberg, Bryan Fuller
Apple is finally getting into the scripted TV series world with its reported acquisition of the Amazing Stories reboot from Steven Spielberg and Bryan Fuller.
NBCUniversal told Bloomberg that Amazing Stories, after original reports claimed its home would be NBC back in 2015, has now reportedly found a home at Apple, with the company agreeing to finance the anthology show. Apple has recently pledged to spend $1 billion on original productions in 2018 and also hired TV executives from Sony Pictures TV and other companies.
Blizzard Potentially Hiring for New Overwatch Project
If a new job posting by Blizzard is any indication, the studio might be working on a new project related to Overwatch.
According to a listing on the official Blizzard careers website, the company is looking to hire a generalist artist intern to "help create a wide range of assets" for "an unannounced project."
Under the "Recommended Talents" section on the job description, it lists "knowledge and understanding of the Overwatch universe," suggesting this new project is in some way related to Blizzard's wildly popular hero shooter.
IGN has reached out to Blizzard for comment and will update this story if we receive a response.
