DC in D.C. Event Showcasing Black Lightning and Batman: Gotham By Gaslight
The comic book world and the real world are coming together next month for the DC in D.C. Event over the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend.
The event runs January 12 and 13 and features the world premiere of The CW's upcoming Black Lightning TV show, as well as a screening of Batman: Gotham by Gaslight.
DC calls it a "landmark pop culture event," bringing comics and public service together to "illuminate the story of America."
In addition to the stars of the DCTV show, comic book artists and writers, along with "guests from politics, government service, entertainment, business, academia and more" will be on hand.
The goal of this wide variety of guests is to explore "intersection of comic books, culture, entertainment and enlightenment," according to DC.
Why Do Some Star Wars Fans Hate The Last Jedi?
Since Star Wars: The Last Jedi opened last night to huge numbers, it's become clear that not everyone who's seeing the film is terribly fond of it. While critics seem to have been charmed by writer-director Rian Johnson's take on Luke, Rey, Kylo Ren, Leia, and the rest -- the film currently has a 93% fresh critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes -- the audience score on that same site is sitting at just 56%. And while the latter number is not a particularly scientific way to appraise a film's popularity (with just over 67,000 ratings at the moment, this is not a large sampling of the bigger worldwide audience), all one needs to do is peek into a messageboard or jump on Twitter today to find that, for some fans, the Force is not at all with The Last Jedi.

FCC Repeals Net Neutrality – Don’t Go Down Without a Fight
Yesterday federal regulators voted to repeal landmark Obama-era regulations overseeing broadband companies such as AT&T, Comcast and Verizon, paving the way to allow these internet service providers to speed up some websites, slow down others and charge additional fees for (or block) higher-quality bandwidth-intensive service or even certain content. The federal government will no longer regulate internet service as if it were a utility like phone service.
The 3-2 party-line vote is expected to rapidly transform the internet service market. The FCC also voted to prevent future FCC members from reversing the Republican-driven ruling. Ajit Pai, the FCC chairman and former Verizon lawyer and lobbyist, has championed deregulation. In order to demonstrate the type of content that should be throttled down, Mr. Pai indulged his inflated ego by releasing a video that showed him dressed as Santa, wielding a lightsaber and playing with a fidget spinner. In the video, Pai mocks his critics and defends his decision to repeal net neutrality rules.
Zelda Director Has ‘Lots of Ideas’ for Future Games or DLC
Following the release of Breath of the Wild’s Champions’ Ballad DLC, director Hidemaro Fujibayashi is already thinking about what could come next.
“I can't say at this point if it will be in sequels or in continuations, or what form it will take, but I definitely have lots of ideas and lots of motivation right now,” Fujibayashi told IGN.
“I think while we were working on both the main game and the DLC, it was a process of constantly getting lots of different, new ideas as we refined the game, and finding new things we wanted to do,” he added. “Even in situations like this, talking to people and finding out that people want to pet dogs gives me a lot of motivation, a lot of ideas for things we could put into the game.”
