A Closer Look at Razer’s New Laptop Powered by Smartphone

Razer always has something ridiculous to show off at CES, and while some of its past prototypes never made it beyond the show floor (like that 3-screen laptop), Project Linda looks like a contender.

If you didn't know, Razer's Linda turns your smartphone into a laptop. Not through magic, but rather, you pop your smartphone into a laptop and the phone breathes life into it. It's pretty cool.

We grabbed some images of the hybrid prototype from Razer at its CES 2018 booth. Will Project Linda become a reality? If the past is any indication, no.

Atari’s Pong Cabinet Mixes Digital Nostalgia With Real World

Nostalgia is the warm comfort of remembering a time long passed. It can trick you into thinking things were somehow better, but really it's a projection of your own innocence onto a wider world that was in reality a colder and more cruel place.

But who doesn't like remembering "back in the day?" Atari has long capitalized on nostalgia, but few of its projects have done it so stylishly as this Pong table. Instead of simply turning a CRT on its side and stringing some LED lighting, this table has actual, 3D paddles and a "ball" instead of pixelated representations.

It's a very cool spin on a very classic game, one that spawned dozens of knock-offs and helped start the entire industry of video games. Check out the Atari Pong table at CES in the gallery below.

Exclusive Fight Scene from The Commuter – IGN First

All month long, IGN First is spotlighting the Films to Watch in 2018. Today, we take a look at Liam Neeson's new film The Commuter, the actor's latest turn as an action hero -- which is set almost entirely on a train!

Liam Neeson has made almost a second career for himself as an action star in the past 10 years since Taken was released and became an unexpected hit. And now he's back in the action-thriller The Commuter, teaming with his frequent collaborator director Jaume Collet-Serra for the tale of Michael (Neeson), an insurance salesman whose daily commute from Manhattan to the suburbs is complicated by the appearance of a mysterious stranger (Vera Farmiga) who makes him an offer he can't refuse. All Michael needs to do is find a certain passenger on the train before it reaches the end of the line and he'll receive a hundred thousand dollars in return. But things quickly escalate, of course, as the ex-cop realizes that he's become entangled in a criminal conspiracy with far-reaching implications.

Data East Shows Off Its Retro Fare

UPDATE: The manufacturer of these retro handhelds and tiny cabinets is My Arcade. They managed to shrink all the goodness of Bad Dudes down into a portable package, no easy feat.

Data East is a name well known to historians of video gaming. The company is responsible for such notable franchises as Bad Dudes, Burger Time, and the super good Guns n' Roses pinball machine (among others).

Given its retro bonafides, it makes sense for Data East to put out products playing to the strengths of its long history in the industry.

Among the products on display are all-in-one retro machines that have new games evoking a retro style. But there are also tiny arcade cabinets with real classic games to enjoy. Check them out in the gallery below.

New Xbox Achievement System Could Include Levels and Loot

A new system called 'Career' could be added to Xbox, adding leveling, quests and loot for avatars, sitting alongside existing Achievements and Gamerscore.

Windows Central reports that it has received documentation showing that Microsoft is currently testing Career, which seems to subsume the current Achievements system.

Completing achievements will contribute towards your Gamertag's level, and leveling up rewards players with loot boxes containing cosmetic items for their Xbox Avatar. Players can apparently even prestige in this system.

Career will apparently also include Quests, which rewards players with more XP and loot boxes for doing specific things, such as playing a specified game. Going by the documentation, it appears loot boxes cannot be bought with real money.

There's a lot to see at CES, and some of it doesn't make sense when you first see it. Take these animal shaped speakers, for example. Most people love animals, and most people love music, so someone thought to put them together.

The results are adorable. These speakers from Mizco come in all kinds of charming animal shapes, but you don't have to imagine them when we have this gallery in place to let you see for yourself.

Check out the dog and cat shaped speakers below, and prepare for a surprise or two.

Nintendo Switch Accessories from CES 2018

The Consumer Electronics Show isn't just about 8K TVs and robots, it's also a place to show off accessories.

Nintendo, in case you haven't noticed, has had a bit of a resurgence as of late, thanks to the popularity of the Nintendo Switch. However, its deep stable of properties spanning decades is a great place to pull from, even when Nintendo is on hard times, like it was during the Wii U era.

We grabbed some photos of some pretty cool Nintendo and Nintendo Switch accessories we spotted at CES 2018. Check them out.

Syfy’s Krypton Will Probably Include the Green Lanterns

The multiverse is the limit for Syfy's new DC series Krypton, according to executive producers David Goyer and Geoff Johns.

The high-concept drama -- which "is the biggest budget show

have ever done," per Goyer -- focuses on Superman's grandfather, Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), who is enlisted by time-traveling hero Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) to protect his unborn grandson's future and the legacy of House El when Brainiac threatens both.

And while Krypton is not associated with any of the DC shows in Greg Berlanti's Arrowverse (which means no crossovers with the Legends of Tomorrow), it sounds like there will still be ample opportunities for other DC cameos.

During a panel for the series at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Johns and Goyer revealed that the show's space-based setting and focus on time travel means that they'll be able to include characters and locations from across the DC canon.
