Metal Gear Survive Has Microtransactions

Konami has confirmed Metal Gear Survive will require a constant online connection and include a microtransaction system.

As reported by GameSpot—after attending a preview session—the survival action game will require you to have an internet connection at all times, even if you're playing solo. According to Konami, this is to "support a seamless integration between single player and co-op," and enable the studio to deliver "ongoing content post-launch."

Additionally, Metal Gear Survive will have microtransactions through an online store where players can use real money to purchase in-game currency that can be used to buy things like Boost Passes. The virtual currency can also be acquired by simply playing the game.

Nike Reveals Limited Edition PlayStation-Themed Basketball Shoes

It doesn't matter if you follow basketball, if you're a fan of Paul George, or if you're into sneakers. The Nike PG-2 PlayStation colorway shoe has enough going on to bring out the inner sneakerhead in all of us.

Paul George, superstar forward now playing with OKC, is a long-time fan of the PlayStation platform. On the official PlayStation blog, he recalls one of his fondest memories is receiving a PS2 from his father for Christmas.

"I’d been dropping hints left and right because I knew that was it. That was the next big thing," he wrote. His passion for PlayStation was rivaled by his desire to someday have his own Nike sneakers. "I'd make sketches of what I wanted my Nike shoes to look like," he said.

Netflix’s Castlevania: Season 2 to Premiere This Summer

The second season of Netflix's animated Castlevania show will debut sometime this summer, according to series writer Warren Ellis.

"We're coming back this summer, for eight episodes," Ellis said in a post on Twitter. Netflix renewed the show for a second season in July of last year, announcing Season 2 will have double the episode count of the show's four-episode first season.

Castlevania follows the final surviving member of the Belmont clan as he seeks to thwart the efforts of Vlad Dracula Tepe and save Eastern Europe. For our thoughts on the animated series, read IGN's Castlevania: Season 1 review.

Breaking Bad Turns 10: Rian Johnson on the Show’s Legacy

Before he took the helm of the biggest movie franchise in the world and delivered Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson was just a humble indie director (okay, he's still pretty humble) who made a small screen splash by directing three of the best episodes of one of the best TV shows of all time -- AMC's Breaking Bad.

The Emmy-winning drama, created by Vince Gilligan, charted the rise and fall of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a nebbish high school chemistry teacher who evolved into a remorseless drug kingpin, becoming one of the most iconic antiheroes to ever grace our screens. His desolate world -- located in Albuquerque, New Mexico -- was populated by countless memorable characters (including one who got his own spinoff), but Walt's partner in crime was one of his former students, the lovable and perpetually troubled Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul).

Hearthstone: Inside the World of Casting and Working for Blizzard

Plenty of people want to work in the games industry, but how do you make that a reality? I caught up with long-running Hearthstone caster TJ Sanders to talk about how he got his start in the scene and what it’s been like to transition into working for Blizzard’s Hearthstone esports team. It’s an interesting insight into what it takes to succeed, not to mention the thinking behind how Hearthstone broadcasting continues to evolve. (The World Championship finals are on right now if you're interested in seeing what Hearthstone esports is all about.)

IGN: How did you initially get into the Hearthstone scene?

The Hunt for Wolverine Begins in April

Wolverine may have returned to life in the pages of Marvel Legacy #1 last year, but readers have yet to learn how the iconic X-Man cheated death or why he's joined the search for the Infinity Stones. Those questions will finally be answered in Hunt for Wolverine #1, a new one-shot comic hitting stores in April.

Fittingly, Hunt for Wolverine #1 will be written by Charles Soule, the man who helped kill Logan in 2014's Death of Wolverine. Soule will be joined by Civil War II artist David Marquez. Death of Wolverine artist Steve McNiven will provide the main cover for this issue, which depicts Logan emerging from the adamantium cocoon that enveloped him in Death of Wolverine #4.
