The Batman: Official Movie Logo Revealed Ahead of DC FanDome
DC FanDome is almost here, and we're expecting to get a closer look at the latest cinematic incarnation of the Dark Knight. But even before that virtual event kicks off, director Matt Reeves has already given fans their first look at the movie's official logo.
Reeves tweeted out an image of the logo, which features "The Batman" in blood red text set against a black background and an image of the Bat emblem from Robert Pattinson's rugged Batsuit.
Reeves also posted a new piece of art from DC artist Jim Lee, depicting a stylized take on Pattinson's Batman:
While Lee's stylized and heavily shadowed art doesn't necessarily reveal any previously unseen elements of the costume, it does give us a better sense of the overall shape and silhouette of the new Batsuit. Even though this may be the darkest Batman movie yet (at least according to Andy Serkis, who plays Alfred in the film), there's still a superheroic quality to this version of Batman.

DC FanDome is a two-part event that will officially launch online on Saturday, August 22. In the absence of a big DC presence as part of ComicCon@Home this year, it seems like this will be the place for any major DC news in 2020, with a huge guest list of stars taking part in the virtual fan-first experience hosted on the DC FanDome site, which will offer multiple language options for fans around the globe.
DC's The Batman panel is scheduled to run at 5:30 PM PT/8:30 PM ET on August 22, making it the last of DC's numerous movie panels to stream that day.
Director Zack Snyder released his own FanDome teaser, posting 20 seconds of footage from the upcoming Snyder Cut of Justice League on Vero.

Stranger Things 4 Won’t Be the Final Season, the Duffer Brothers Confirm
The Duffer Brothers have seemingly been spending their mornings drinking coffee and contemplating the end of Stranger Things, which they say will not wrap up in Season 4.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Matt and Ross Duffer opened up about the future of their hit Netflix show, including their plans for the fourth season and beyond, as they confirmed that the next installment won't be the last bike ride that we have with the Hawkins heroes.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2016/08/14/15-even-stranger-things-to-check-out-after-stranger-things"]
"Season four won't be the end. We know what the end is, and we know when it is," Ross told the outlet. "[The pandemic] has given us time to look ahead, figure out what is best for the show. Starting to fill that out gave us a better idea of how long we need to tell that story."
While the brothers appear to have a clear conclusion in mind for the show, neither of them would give away any clues about the overarching storyline, other than to say that the scripts are completed for the forthcoming season, which has been swamped with more conspiracy theories than Murray Bauman's desk after the epic third season left us on the biggest cliffhanger yet.
"We've had a lot more time to work on the scripts. For the first time, we have all the scripts written and we're able to look at it as a whole piece and make adjustments," Matt explained, as Ross confirmed that "everyone's excited to get back to work" once it's safe to return.

Production was suspended on Stranger Things Season 4 in March, as Netflix announced that it would be pausing filming on all of its TV shows and movies in the US and Canada in an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). When filming does recommence on the show, there could be some new kids on the block, as the Duffer Brothers were reportedly looking for four males to fill recurring roles.

Hitman 3 Is a Launch Exclusive for Epic Games Store on PC
Hitman 3 is a launch exclusive for the Epic Games Store on PC, developer IO Interactive announced today.
Hitman 3 was revealed back in the June PS5 reveal event, where it was announced that the game would be coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC in January 2021. We now know that the game will launch exclusively for PC on the Epic Games Store in January - the implication being that this is a timed deal.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/11/hitman-iii-announcement-trailer"]
"Epic Games and IO Interactive today are excited to announce that Hitman 3 will launch exclusively on the Epic Games Store when it releases in January 2021," IO Interactive said. "Additionally, from August 27 through September 3, 2016's critically-acclaimed Hitman will be completely free for players to download and keep."
IO Interactive will self-publish the game and it said doing this is a "big step" for the company in "achieving [its] highly ambitious goals as an independent studio," according to IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak. He said this partnership with Epic Games has given the studio the "freedom to create the game exactly as we imagined, for our fans and for our community uncompromised."
"For our long-term fans that have supported us on the World of Assassination journey, we're happy to have mastery and location carry over from their existing progress into Hitman 3 on Epic Games Store."
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=hitman-3-playstation-5-screenshots&captions=true"]
IGN reached out to IO Interactive asking if and how players will be able carry save data from Hitman 1 and 2 on Steam into their Epic Games Store version of Hitman 3. The developer responded by saying, “In the coming months, we’ll share precise details about how location and progression carryover will work."
For more Hitman 3, check out the modes that have been revealed so far and read about how PvP multiplayer modes like Ghost Mode will be shutting down. Then, read about how the entire Hitman trilogy will be playable in VR.

Control Publisher Explains Why the Base Game Won’t Get Free Next-Gen Upgrades
505 Games has released a blog post that explains why the base game of Control won't get free next-gen upgrades.
505, the publisher behind Remedy Entertainment's Control, announced the Ultimate Edition of the game last week, which will come with the base game, its two expansions, and allow for a free next-gen upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X. The announcement caused an uproar because it turns out, the next-gen upgrade is only available to those who purchase the Ultimate Edition, meaning those who have already purchased and supported the game will need to buy the game again to play the next-gen version.
"The upgrade path we are offering is only possible when upgrading from the same version of the game," 505 Games said in a blog post made on August 20. "As we are only doing additional development on Control Ultimate Edition on the next gen platforms, we are unfortunately unable to offer an upgrade path to all existing Control players."
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=confirmed-playstation-5-games&captions=true"]
505 Games said it understands how this might upset some players but that those players "will still be able to play the 2019 edition of Control and each Expansion on the new platforms" (referring to backwards compatability features on both Xbox Series X and PS5).
"To bring Control to next generation consoles in any form, we had to make some difficult decisions and those came in the form of creating the simplified Control Ultimate Edition product plan we have today. That we took a while responding does not mean we have not been listening. We are sorry we couldn't meet everyone's expectations and we hope you will continue to support Control."
The publisher said it spent several months exploring all of the possible launch options for the Control Ultimate Edition and that no decision made was taken lightly. It said it was difficult to upgrade its "current user base to next gen with full parity across platforms with our year-old game."
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/12/control-ultimate-edition-trailer"]
While every publisher and developer is different, it's not unheard of for a game to get free next-gen upgrades, which might explain some of the backlash 505 Games received last week. Xbox has reportedly told all developers that their next-gen upgrades should be free while games like Madden NFL 21, Cyberpunk 2077, and Doom Eternal have already had free next-gen upgrades announced.
Check out our thoughts on the game as you decide whether or not to purchase the Ultimate Edition in our Control review and then read about how Remedy Entertainment is working on a game set in the Control and Alan Wake connected universe.

PS5: Developers Explain How They’ll Use the Console’s Features
A new post on the PlayStation Blog has revealed several ways different developers are using the PS5’s haptic feedback. From locating enemies to indicating jammed weapons, there’s some innovative applications coming in the early PlayStation 5 games line-up.
Gavin Moore, creative director at SIE Japan Studio, revealed how haptic feedback provides a sense of contact between weapons when sword fighting in Demon’s Souls. “Metal strikes metal when your foes block your attacks or you block theirs,” he says. “That extra sensory feedback through the controller allows you to know your attack hit home and your perfectly-timed parry was a success, so you can react faster and more decisively.”
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/first-ps5-trailer-teases-next-gen-features"]
“This is something that rumble could never do,” he added. “It could never replicate the feeling of metal striking metal or fire crackling in your hand as you conjure magic.”
Over at Insomniac, the developers of Spider-Man: Miles Morales are using the high-definition vibrations to replicate Spidey-Sense. “We’ll be hinting to players which direction attacks are coming from by providing haptic feedback from the appropriate direction on the DualSense wireless controller,” said Brian Horton, the game’s creative director.
The haptics will also be used to inform Miles’ combat abilities: “As you hold down Square to do a Venom Punch, you feel Spider-Man’s bio-electricity crackle across from the left side of the controller, culminating in the right side on impact.”
Arkane similarly has some innovative ideas for haptic feedback in Deathloop. “We do a lot of things to make weapons feel differently from one another,” said game director Dinga Bakaba. “One I like is blocking the triggers when your weapon jams, to give to the player an immediate feedback even before the animation plays out, which prompts the player in a physical way that they have to unjam their gun.”
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=confirmed-playstation-5-games&captions=true"]
As you’d expect, Insomniac has some weapon-based haptic ideas for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Creative Marcus Smith explains that, on double barreled weapons, pulling the trigger will generate resistance at the half-way point, which is where the first barrel will fire. “Need a bigger blast? Pull the trigger through that resistance point and you’ll fire both barrels at the same time,” he said.
Horizon Forbidden West’s director, Mathijs de Jonge, gives less away, but states that the adaptive triggers “help us to make the weapons feel even more unique and satisfying to use.” The original reveal of the haptic triggers explained that they can simulate the resistance of a bow string, so it seems sensible to assume that’s something Horizon will use.
Other developers using the features include Tango Gameworks, which is offering “textured” nuances in rumble for when players conduct an action, and Sony Japan Studio, which is replicating the ‘feel’ of plastic, metal, sand, and water for Astro’s Playroom. Sumo Digital has also developed feedback to convey Sackboy struggling to carry heavy items in Sackboy: A Big Adventure, while Polyphony Digital will have realistic ABS simulation in Gran Turismo 7. Counterplay Games is also using a sort of spidey-sense to allow players to work out where enemies are in Godfall, as well as make it that you can “feel” what weapon you’re using without looking at the UI.
PS5 is still set to launch before the end of the year. Here's everything we know about PS5 and PS5 pre-orders.
