The first trailer for Zack Snyder's true version of Justice League, dubbed The Snyder Cut, was revealed today at DC FanDome. Zack Snyder's Justice League is scheduled to be released exclusively on HBO Max sometime in 2021. The Justice League trailer that premiered today showed some key differences from the 2017 theatrical release. Watch the trailer below or read on for our description: [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/22/justice-league-the-snyder-cut-trailer"] Set to the Leonard Cohen song “Hallelujah,” which Snyder also used in a key scene in Watchmen, the trailer opens with a shot of Darkseid himself, making good on Snyder’s promise that the ruler of Apokolips will actually appear in this version. This appears to be a similar shot from the theatrical version, with Darkseid taking the place of Steppenwolf as the massive battle between the New Gods and Earth’s ancient defenders begins. We then see Superman with a serious chest wound, possibly a battle scar from fighting Steepenwolf, or perhaps someone has fished out Batman’s Kryptonite spear again. A glimpse of the future of the DCEU follows - the same hellish, war-torn desert that was teased in the “Knightmare” dream sequence in Batman v Superman. Even Justice League headquarters have been destroyed! Some footage from the trailers that never made it into the theatrical version also appears, with Vic Stone playing football. The Man of Steel appears in his black suit through most of the trailer, an element that was cut from the theatrical version. Also cut there but back in this trailer is Kiersey Clemons’ Iris West, being saved by the Flash – and maybe meeting for the first time? We also see Cyborg apparently digging up a grave, Aquaman refusing his ceremonial Atlantean armor, a version of Steppenwolf that’s pretty different from the theatrical version, and a New God character who, based on the hood he’s wearing, could be Desaad, Darkseid’s devious right-hand-man from the comics. Here he appears to be obliterated while experimenting on one of the Mother Boxes. There’s also what is likely footage of the Flash traveling through time to the dystopian future glimpsed earlier, finally picking up the loose end from Batman v Superman where Batman dreamed of the future “Knightmare” timeline ruled by an evil Superman. We see the full League united, including Superman still wearing his black suit, as Batman’s Flying Fox approaches. And finally, the trailer closes with Flash mentioning “hundreds of thousands of other superbeings on other planets” that have presumably been destroyed by Darkseid. Batman is undaunted, of course: “He’s never fought us. Not us united.” We admire his optimism, but there’s probably a reason Snyder planned on filming two Justice League movies. However, Snyder had to step down from the production in 2017 and Joss Whedon took over post-production, which included reshoots. This was the version of Justice League that was released in theaters. Almost immediately after the release fans began an online movement to get a version of Justice League that's closer to Snyder's original vision and in 2020 Snyder announced that his version will be released on HBO Max. Snyder describes his upcoming version of the Justice League as a new version of the film and it's expected to cost around $30 million to complete the new edit. However, there will be no reshoots with the original cast. DC FanDome takes place over two days. Panels spotlighting the biggest movies, games, and TV shows aired on August 22, and an array of other original programming for fans to watch on-demand will be available on September 12. How to Watch DC FanDome Panels and Other Events Live

You can head over to the official DC FanDome Schedule, create an account, and browse through all the programming featured. If something piques your interest, you can add it to your personal DC FanDome schedule and calendar so you can keep track of when it starts and where it will be broadcasting. You can watch all DC FanDome events exclusively at DCFanDome.com. There are six “Verses”: Hall of Heroes, WatchVerse, YouVerse, InsiderVerse, FunVerse, and KidsVerse. Each has its own unique theme that we will go over below so you can have a better sense of what to look for within each one.

• Hall of Heroes: is where all the major programming will happen such as new content and panels about your favorite DC shows, movies, and games. This content aired in late August.

Static Shock will get a new comic book series in 2021 as part of a larger revival of Milestone Comics as a DC imprint. In a surprise DC Fandome panel, Milestone Comics co-founder Denys Cowan appeared alongside DC publisher Jim Lee, filmmaker Reggie Hudlin, and Static Shock voice actor Phil Lamarr to announce the return of Milestone and its heroes. A new digital Static Shock Comic will debut in February 2021, along with a Static original graphic novel by Hudlin and artist Kyle Baker. Other Milestone heroes like Icon and Rocket will also get their own comic book series written by Hudlin and Denys Cowan. Cowan also shared that there are a lot more plans being discussed for Static and Milestone beyond just new books. There are apparently active conversations around films, podcasts, and other media: "It's time to expand into new areas. We are in serious conversations about developing a Static Shock feature film. Static Shock will get a new comic book series in 2021 as part of a larger revival of Milestone Comics as a DC imprint. In a surprise DC Fandome panel, Milestone Comics co-founder Denys Cowan appeared alongside DC publisher Jim Lee, filmmaker Reggie Hudlin, and Static Shock voice actor Phil Lamarr to announce the return of Milestone and its heroes. A new digital Static Shock Comic will debut in February 2021, along with a Static original graphic novel by Hudlin and artist Kyle Baker. Other Milestone heroes like Icon and Rocket will also get their own comic book series written by Hudlin and Denys Cowan. WB Games Montreal says it chose to have Gotham Knights begin with a dead Batman in order to take away "any certainty, any feeling of safety" in its world. Speaking at DC FanDome during the Legacy of the Bat panel, creative director Patrick Redding explained that Gotham Knights' Batman has been fighting crime for around 15 years, before being killed in still-unexplained circumstances. "We wanted to take away any certainty, any feeling of safety," Redding explained. "So we could take a Gotham City where Bruce Wayne has been operating as Batman for, like, 15 years - with all that history, his whole network of allies - and then take him out of the picture. It really demands players figure out, 'How would I step up, and how would I protect Gotham City?'" That lack of certainty could perhaps signal a game that's more willing to see other major characters killed off during its runtime.
