The Bill & Ted Story So Far in Six Minutes
NASA Discovers Galaxy Shaped Like Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter
NASA announced Tuesday that it has discovered a galaxy far, far away that's shaped like an imperial TIE fighter from Star Wars.
The active galaxy -- designated TXS 0128+554 -- is located 500 million light-years from us in the Cassiopeia constellation.
“The first time I saw the results, I immediately thought it looked like Darth Vader’s TIE fighter spacecraft from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope," said Purdue University scientist Matthew Lister, one of the authors of a paper published in The Astrophysical Journal announcing the findings.
[caption id="attachment_2399036" align="alignnone" width="482"]

[caption id="attachment_2399057" align="alignnone" width="720"]
TIE Fighters in A New Hope.[/caption]
Lister added, "That was a fun surprise, but its appearance at different radio frequencies also helped us learn more about how active galaxies can change dramatically on decade time scales.”
The scientific research team, using multiple telescopes and observatories, documented the galaxy from a number of positions. "We're seeing TXS 0128+554 at an angle, which emphasizes its Star Wars features," CNET noted.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2017/11/13/9-best-star-wars-spaceship-scenes"]
CNET added, "The galaxy has a supermassive black hole at its center and is blasting out twin jets of energy. The starfighter appearance became very apparent when the Very Long Baseline Array network took a look at radio signals emanating from the galaxy."
Frankly, a galaxy shaped like a TIE fighter isn't the strangest thing science news of late, given the reports of a "Galactus" cloud, the purported recovery of "off-world vehicles," a parallel universe where time runs backward, and scientists resurrecting 100-million-year-old underwater lifeforms.
So what do you think of this galaxy far, far away? Let us know in the comments.

Hot Toys Is Finally Making an Ahsoka Tano Figure
When Hot Toys announced a new line of Star Wars figures inspired by the Clone Wars animated series, fans all had one question - where's the Ahsoka figure? Well, the wait is over. Hot Toys has finally unveiled its take on the iconic Star Wars heroine, and it's every bit as amazing as you'd expect.
Sideshow Collectibles revealed the next two additions to Hot Toys' Clone Wars line, both of which are inspired by the climactic Siege of Mandalore storyline in Season 7. In addition to Ahsoka herself, Hot Toys will also be releasing a 501st Battalion Clone Trooper. You can take a closer look at both figures in the slideshow gallery below:
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=star-wars-hot-toys-reveals-ahsoka-tano-and-clone-trooper-figures&captions=true"]
The Ahsoka figure poses an interesting challenge for Hot Toys' artists. While the Clone Wars line is inspired by the animated series, the figures themselves are meant to be lifelike and movie-accurate. But in Ahsoka's case, there's no physical actress on which to base the design (at least until we finally see Rosario Dawson's version of Ahsoka in The Mandalorian). We think the company has done an admirable job of creating a more realistic take on Ahsoka without losing the flavor of the animated series, but definitely let us know in the comments what you think.
The 501st Battalion Clone Trooper figure should please any collector hoping to do a bit of Clone Wars army building. The deluxe edition comes with three different helmets - the Episode II-era Phase 1, the Episode III-era Phase 2 and the modified, orange-colored helmet from The Siege of Mandalore. The figure will certainly pair nicely with the previously revealed Captain Rex figure.
One of the Ahsoka photos shows her battling a Season 7-inspired Darth Maul, so don't be surprised if that's the next Clone Wars figure to be announced.
These figures are slated for release in sometime between October and December 2021. You can find pre-order links for all three below, as well as links for the previously announced Clone Wars figures:
Several of Hot Toys' upcoming Clone Wars figures were on display at Sideshow Con in July, along with some incredible new additions to Sideshow's Star Wars Mythos series. Between that and a new Walmart-exclusive wave of Star Wars: The Black Series figures, the next few years are shaping up to be very expensive for Clone Wars collectors.

Altered Carbon Cancelled: No Season 3 at Netflix
Netflix has cancelled Altered Carbon after two seasons, with no Season 3 to wrap up its story.
Per Deadline, Altered Carbon was not cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but as a result of a lack of "viewership vs. cost renewal review process." The sci-fi series is based on the cyberpunk novels written by English author Richard K. Morgan and adapted for television by showrunner Laeta Kalogridis.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/02/22/altered-carbon-season-2-review"]
Over the course of its two-season run, actors Joel Kinnaman and Anthony Mackie have portrayed the series' main character, Takeshi Kovacs. Other recurring characters include fan-favorite Poe (Chris Conner), Quellcrist Falconer (Renée Elise Goldsberry), Takeshi Prime (Will Yun Lee), and many more. IGN hailed Altered Carbon as "a transporting sci-fi thriller that rivals Blade Runner in the depth of its universe," in our Season 1 review.
Back in April 2020, Netflix released a slick anime spinoff, titled Altered Carbon: Resleeved, which centers on Kovacs, who is hired to protect a young tattooist named Holly (Brittany Cox) while investigating the death of a local Yakuza boss. While not as rich in character development as its live-action counterpart, Resleeved "is a diverting entry in the Takeshi Kovacs saga that excels in the action department," according to our full review.
Let us know what you think about Altered Carbon's cancellation in the comments section below. Were you looking forward to a third season on Netflix?

Batman Gotham Knights: Our Biggest Questions, Answered
Gotham Knights, WB Games Montreal's game set in a brand new Batman game universe, came with a nicely explanatory gameplay trailer - but we still had a lot of questions after the reveal.
Thankfully, I got to speak to creative director Patrick Redding and senior producer Fleur Marty, who answered many of the questions we were left asking after the reveal - from how the open world works, to whether you can play co-op with two of the same characters, to how gear and costumes will work. And much, much more. Here's what we've learned:
Patrick Redding: "Between the ability tree for Red Hood (which is very unique), and his gear spec, and the way you can modify and upgrade both his ranged weapons, his melee weapons, and his suit - absolutely. In fact that range [between character builds] remains actually quite robust throughout the entire game.".
Fleur Marty: "This is very much not designed as a game-as-service. There is an ability tree, which is different for each of the characters, and then there's gear that you craft - and so choices that you're going to be making - but that does not mean that this is a game-as-service.
Will combat feel like the Arkham games? Is this a familiar beat 'em up combat system?
Patrick Redding: "We have gone through and iterated on control schemes quite a bit over the course of the whole project, but it'll be comfortable to people who are familiar with third-person brawler type experiences." "The way you're accessing some of your special moves and things like that can vary I'm sure, but in terms of having both attack and defensive choices, having a range of combo choices, having variations in strike types and attack types, being able to combo in your ranged attacks as well as your melee attacks - all of that is there, and I think will be comfortable for people who have played modern, contemporary third-person action-adventure style brawlers." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/22/7-minutes-of-batman-gotham-knights-gameplay"]Are special abilities tied to the 'stamina' bar in the bottom-left corner?
Patrick Redding: "It kills me how fast people pick up on these things. I shouldn't be that surprised. Yeah, you have special abilities in your ability tree that you'll unlock, and you can choose to unlock it in different ways, as well as how you use your gear. And some of that will tie into that bar that we'll be talking about in the future." Fleur Marty: "There's a bit of a strategic approach to it."Is this a fully open world? Will areas be blocked off or level-gated?
Patrick Redding: "It is one open world city, right from the start. And no, there's no level gating whatsoever."What do enemy levels mean to the player, then?
Patrick Redding: "It's true that, as you are getting more powerful in your progression, you're gonna see a sliding scale in terms of not just the level of the enemies, but even some of the types of enemies that you're going to be coming up against. But it's not a grind, it's not a situation where you'll say, 'Oh, God, I have to go grind this type of mission in order to level up to this, and then I can get this.' "It's really that, when you encounter open-world crime activities (and other activities that involve the AI), you're going to see a range, right? You might see guys that are a little bit weaker than you, and guys that are a little bit stronger than you. And how you approach each of those situations, it presents you with some choices that you're going to have to make. Like, 'Is this a situation where I'm going to maybe swap out a piece of equipment, because I think I'm going to handle it better that way.? Do I want to take a more stealthy approach?' All of those are options that are available to the player and, and the level of your enemy is just one factor in deciding that."
How different can the Knights become? Will my Red Hood be different to someone else's Red Hood?
Patrick Redding: "Between the ability tree for Red Hood (which is very unique), and his gear spec, and the way you can modify and upgrade both his ranged weapons, his melee weapons, and his suit - absolutely. In fact that range [between character builds] remains actually quite robust throughout the entire game.".
How do character skins work? Are they made up of individual pieces of armour, or full outfits?
Fleur Marty: "They're a mix of all that." Patrick Redding: "So, just to be clear, when we talk about Gear, we're talking about your melee weapon, your ranged weapon, and your suit, which has certain armor characteristics. And then there's your suit style - that's the sort of 'skinning' of the suit. Because we didn't want it to turn into just a random crazy quilt, what we've done is we've got distinct suit looks. And then within that there's accessory variation that the player can tap into, and that way you get a chance to tweak it and make it exactly the way you like it."What does co-op offer above single player? Can two players play co-op with the same character?
Patrick Redding: "Because the characters are so distinct from each other, there's a bit of asymmetry, a bit of the complimentary skill set and ability set that actually makes teaming up kind of awesome if you happen to have different characters. "Now, if you happen to have two Batgirls, you can also do that. Obviously, the potential of having different Batgirl builds, and how they look different and play differently is really cool too."
Is this a game-as-service?
Fleur Marty: "This is very much not designed as a game-as-service. There is an ability tree, which is different for each of the characters, and then there's gear that you craft - and so choices that you're going to be making - but that does not mean that this is a game-as-service.
So Gotham Knights is a single, self-contained story?
Fleur Marty: "Yes, absolutely. That you can also completely experience in solo if you want to, you're not going to miss out on anything. If you're playing single player, you can be offline if you want to. We think that teaming up and living that dynamic duo fantasy can be also a really great experience for players, but we won't force it on them."Why is it 2 player co-op maximum?
Patrick Redding: "You can have four-player brawler experiences, [but] I think the more you try to lean into that, the more you end up having to create environments that only really work for that." "And if you look at the fantasy of the Batman family and when these heroes get together, it is often weirdly kind of a drop in drop out scenario. They'll, they'll be running, rolling their solo crime fighting efforts, and then they'll cross paths and it'll turn out they're after the same guy. And, you know, they kind of joined forces and they take that on and then go their separate ways or decide to team up some more that's all possible in the current dynamic. "Focusing more on the idea of the immediate team-up of two allowed us to say, 'OK, we can build a world that works perfectly well for either solo play or pairing off.'"Can I play as one Knight all the way through?
Patrick Redding: "Yup! You could go back to the Belfry and say, 'Oh, I've just unlocked the next major piece of the mystery. And I need to go deal with this thing.' And you can decide that this is the perfect opportunity for me to swap out and play somebody else, so we allow you to dip in and out of those characters. "But we know most players will typically gravitate towards that one hero that really reflects their style. But I think it's always possible for people to kind of sit there and incrementally play everybody if they want it." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/22/batman-gotham-knights-announcement-trailer"]The gameplay trailer mentions that the player's halfway through the Mr. Freeze storyline - are there multiple villain questlines to follow at one time?
Fleur Marty: "That's probably more details than we're supposed to do at this stage... but yeah, that's a clue that we put in there. Yeah. You got it right."What's the timescale of the game? Is there a day-night cycle?
Fleur Marty: "It's actually over many nights. So yes, we do kind of have a day night cycle, but the daytime is when you spend your time in the Belfry. The Belfry is super-central to our game because it's your base of operations. You get to go back there, analyze all the clues that you've picked up during your previous night, have a little chat with Alfred, craft your gear, and really prepare yourself for the next night of crime fighting. So yeah, daytime is Belfry, and then at night you're roaming the streets, fighting criminals and unraveling the mystery."Will the Knights be out of their disguises in the Belfry?
Fleur Marty: "You kind of got a hint of that in our trailer, actually." Patrick Redding: "It was important to us, the Belfry. I mean, obviously it has a huge role to play in how the player manages their characters and their progression and all that - but it is also a narrative space. It's a place where the characters are allowed to be seen and have facial expressions and talk to each other. So it serves a dual purpose, and it's a really effective way of using that space."Was this always a non-Arkham game?
Patrick Redding: "Yes, 100%. That was something we arrived at early on. We want this to be the start of something, not just the continuation or the prolonging of something. It was always intended as a new franchise set within DC's Batman universe, obviously. Once we had that as, not a blank slate, but a clearer possibility space, then we started arriving at some of these other ideas that allowed us to kind of move in a very different direction and, you know, take the step of... killing Batman." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/22/gotham-knights-playable-characters-story-combat-and-dead-batman-explained"]Is Gotham Knight's story based on existing comics?
Patrick Redding: "Honestly, we could probably publish a reading list and post it to our website and it would be an excellent way for people to get themselves more fully immersed in it but, to be clear, it's an original story. It's very much our interpretation of several aspects of the Batman lore and the Gotham City history, and we kind of synthesize them in a way that holds together as a very much a unified storyline."Could more stories be told in the Gotham Knights universe, then?
Patrick Redding: "Yes. But I won't say more than that." Fleur Marty: "[Gotham Knights] is all about growth. There's room for growth. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has finally been revealed, and will come to Xbox One, PS4 and PC on November 13, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions set for release this holiday season.
After numerous leaks, teases and rumors, Activision today unveiled its Treyarch/Raven co-production inside Call of Duty: Warzone, alongside the announcement that it will feature a campaign, new multiplayer, a new Zombies experience, and a continuation of Warzone.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/26/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-reveal-trailer"]
Black Ops Cold War will feature the following modes, according to its Battle.net description:
- Campaign: "Black Ops Cold War will drop fans into the depths of the Cold War’s volatile geopolitical battle of the early 1980s. Nothing is ever as it seems in a gripping single-player Campaign, where players will come face-to-face with historical figures and hard truths, as they battle around the globe through iconic locales like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, Soviet KGB headquarters and more."
- Multiplayer: "Bring a Cold War arsenal of weapons and equipment into the next generation of Multiplayer in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Engage in deniable operations as an elite operative using state of the art tools of the tradecraft across a variety of experiences from small skirmishes to all out, vehicle-fueled warfare."
- Zombies: "Uncover dark Cold War experiments that unleash a new Zombie threat to take on in frightening and intense co-operative gameplay with friends."
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Current-Gen, Next-Gen Purchase Plans
Update: Activision has released a detailed FAQ about the ways to purchase Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and the cross-gen possibilities are different depending on your console and physical vs. digital choices. If you buy the standard edition on PS4, either digitally or physically, you will have an option to buy an upgrade to the PS5 version of the game. However, if you buy physically, the disc will still be required to be inserted in your PS5, even if you are playing the upgraded version. Meanwhile, Xbox One purchases can not upgrade their version to the Xbox Series X version if you buy the physical edition. Upgrades for digital editions on Xbox One are "currently being evaluated" according to Activision. Both current-gen versions will be backward compatible on the PS5 and Xbox Series X whether you buy digital or physical editions, but if you wish to upgrade, that's were things become murkier. Meanwhile, for next-gen versions, the PS5 standard edition includes only the PS5 version of the game, while the Xbox Series X standard edition includes an Xbox Series X disc that can also be played on Xbox One. And there is a digital cross-gen version available, which entitles players to both current and next-gen versions of the game. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Black Ops Cold War will feature cross-play support across current and next-gen consoles, as well as cross-progression across all included modes. A Battle Pass will be available to players, offering free post-launch content like multiplayer maps, modes, Zombies updates, and other in-game events. Warzone will of course continue and feature integration with Black Ops Cold War, which even starts today alongside the in-game teaser event. Those who preorder Black Ops Cold War instantly unlock digital rewards, including Black Ops Operator Frank Woods for both Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Those who preorder will also receive early access to the Black Ops Cold War multiplayer open beta, however beta dates have not been announced. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/26/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-full-warzone-mission-gameplay"] While Black Ops creator Treyarch will be handling multiplayer for this year's outing, Black Ops Cold War's campaign has been handled by Raven, the studio's first original game project since 2010's Singularity. The campaign is a direct sequel to 2010's Call of Duty: Black Ops, and will feature original characters Mason, Woods, and Hudson - although you'll be playing the campaign as a customisable player-character. As for Call of Duty: Warzone, Modern Warfare's wildly popular battle royale, we know that Black Ops Cold War will be integrated into the existing game, but details remain scarce. [poilib element="accentDivider"]Monster Brawler GigaBash Reveals a New Playable Character
GigaBash - the 4-player monster brawler coming to PC and PlayStation consoles - has revealed Skorak, a new playable slug-like monster.
Revealed exclusively with IGN ahead of the game's appearance at Gamescom 2020, Skorak is a four-eyed slug carrying a gigantic skull on its back. The monster can use fangs hidden throughout its body, as well as utilise the skull as a boomerang-like projectile, and is able to spew poison across the environment.
Check out a teaser trailer below, and tune into IGN's Gamescom Studio show to see more of the monster in action:
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/26/gigabash-exclusive-skorak-reveal-teaser"]
Skorak's designed as a character for those who play more strategically, using the skull and area-of-effect attacks to outmanouevre enemies, rather than rely on brute force.
We'll have more from Skorak, GigaBash, and many other games all weekend, as IGN's partnered with Gamescom to bring you five shows across August 27-30.

The Last Campfire releases on August 27, and will be available on five platforms: Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, PC (via Epic Games Store) and iOS through Apple Arcade.
Developed by a small team at Hello Games, The Last Campfire is an adventure game in which players explore a puzzle-filled world on their journey home. Its cute style is reminiscent of LostWinds, and so it won't come as a surprise that the creative team from LostWinds are behind The Last Campfire.
