AT&T No Longer Looking to Sell Warner Bros. Interactive Gaming Division
After reports stating that AT&T was looking to sell Warner Bros. Interactive, which includes studios like Rocksteady, NetherRealm, and WB Montreal, it has now removed its gaming division from the list of noncore assets up for sale.
As reported by Bloomberg, AT&T has decided "it was too valuable to unload during its effort to pay down debt and streamline, according to people familiar with the situation."
In June, CNBC reported that Warner Bros. Interactive had attracted interest from many companies, a list that includes Microsoft, EA, Activision, and Take-Two, and that this potential sale could have "reaped $4 billion" for AT&T. However, it now sees the "business's growth potential."
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/23/everything-we-know-about-suicide-squad-kill-the-justice-league"]
AT&T had been working with LionTree Advisors earlier in the year to explore a potential sale of this gaming division, and the decision to ultimately abandon the sale, which could always change in the future, "came amid a turnover in senior leadership at AT&T."
Bloomberg notes that a few factors may have influenced this retreat, including the upcoming release of the yet-unannounced Harry Potter game and the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic has kept people at home with more opportunities to play games.
Additionally, Warner Bros. Interactive works with a ton of licensed properties, which would make a sale complicated as it would "come with a set of long-term strings attached."

While there is no mention of Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and WB Montreal's Gotham Knights, these recently revealed games will also most likely be two big titles for the gaming division, and AT&T as a whole.

DC Hires Former Activision Blizzard CMO as General Manager
With DC and parent company Warner Media dealing with the fallout of major layoffs, a new piece of the corporate puzzle has emerged. DC has now hired former Activision Blizzard Chief Marketing Officer Daniel Cherry to fill the positions of Senior Vice President and General Manager.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cherry will begin his role on September 8 and his responsibilities include overseeing "business affairs editorial, talent services, marketing, sales, brand and direct to consumer for DC." Cherry will report directly to WarnerMedia's President of Global Brands and Experience Pamela Lifford and will work closely with Senior VP, Business Strategy, Finance and Administration, Anne DePies.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-top-25-heroes-of-dc-comics&captions=true"]
The general manager position is a new addition to DC's executive leadership. DC is touting Cherry's experience in the esports realm while at Activision, a sign the company is looking to branch beyond its traditional forms of consumer outreach and target new, untapped segments of the comic book market. THR also notes this new position is designed to allow Publisher/Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee to focus on building up the wider DC brand. It's unknown whether Lee will continue under those titles or take on a new position at DC.
This news comes weeks after WarnerMedia laid off hundreds of employees, eliminating the majority of workers at DC Universe and DC Direct and as much as one-third of DC Comics' editorial staff, including editor-in-chief Bob Harras. In place of Harras, Marie Javins and Michele Wells are serving as interim editors-in-chief.
While the future direction of DC Comics is still unclear, we've explored a few ways the company will probably change in 2021, including fewer monthly comics and a greater emphasis on digital releases.

Fortnite Adds a Black Panther Monument in Latest Marvel Crossover
Fortnite has added a new Marvel POI, Panther's Prowl, and it is more or less an alternate dimensional rift that features a Black Panther monument in honor of the beloved Marvel hero.
It's important to note that this new addition was not in response to the passing of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, as it was already "part of a previously-planned narrative for the new Chapter 2 - Season 4 season."
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/fortnite-black-panther-statue"]
"As with the rest of the world, we were greatly saddened to learn of the passing of actor, Chadwick Boseman," Epic Games said in a statement to IGN. "The Black Panther monument arrived this morning as part of a previously-planned narrative for the new Chapter 2 - Season 4 season."
As you can see in the clip above, when you approach this new POI, you will be treated to ambient music that invokes the feeling of the soundtrack of Marvel's Black Panther film.
For those who wish to find this new statue, it is due west of Misty Meadows, and has a glowing ring around it on the map, as well as in the game, to represent the rift that brought it to Fortnite's island.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=fortnites-black-panther-monument-on-panthers-prowl&captions=true"]
This Black Panther statue is another example of this epic crossover between Fortnite and Marvel, which saw Antman's Ant Manor POI appear earlier this week.

Here’s Everyting Nvidia Announced at Its 30-Series GeForce Event
Nvidia just wrapped up its big GeForce reveal and what a show it was. Not only was there a new GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3070, but also the introduction of the RTX 3090, a big honking triple-slot graphics card with more than 10,000 CUDA cores and 24GB of video memory. Beyond that, there were also a few reveals of new and old games getting the ray tracing treatment. In case you missed the show or just wanted to relive all the highlights, we’ve got you covered here.
Nvidia also revealed its high-to-mid-range graphics card, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070. It comes with a high CUDA core count of 5,888 but still last generation video memory with only 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM. That said, this graphics card is still more powerful than the $1,200 RTX 2080 Ti with 20 shader-tflops, 40 RT-tflops, and 163 Tensor-tflops of power while costing less than half as much at $499. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 will be available sometime in October.
Of course, Nvidia would save its biggest, baddest GPU for last, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090. Lovingly titled the "BFGPU," it's literally huge as a triple slot GPU. With this monster you're looking at 10,496 CUDA cores paired with 24GB of GDDR6X video memory. The card can push 36 shader-tflops, 69 RT-tflops, and 285 Tensor-tflops of graphical power, which theoretically should allow for 8K resolution games at 60 frames per second. This whopper of a graphics card is expensive with a starting price of $1,499 and it'll be available on September 24th.

Fortnite Gets Its RTX On
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/fortnite-rtx-on-reveal-trailer"] The Nvidia showcase started off with a bit of surprise announcement that Fortnite would be getting the RTX treatment. Hopefully, it'll be a big graphical upgrade to the three-year-old game that makes Fortnite pop as much as Minecraft with ray tracing. This will also make Fortnite the first Battle Royale-style game to feature ray tracing.Another Look at Cyberpunk 2077 with Ray Tracing
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/cyberpunk-2077-rtx-showcase-trailer"] With Cyberpunk 2077 releasing on November 17, it's easily going to be the biggest and newest game you'll be able to enjoy on Nvidia's new graphics cards, and so it makes sense to show just one more sizzle reel of how the game will look with the latest ray-traced effects and hardware. There isn't anything shockingly new revealed in the footage itself, but we can't say it isn't pretty to look at.Marbles Never Looked Better with Ray Tracing
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/nvidias-newest-rtx-demo-looks-like-real-life"] There's probably a joke somewhere that Nvidia has lost its marbles, but honestly there's really no better object to show off the latest real-time ray tracing technology than this. Through the use of virtual marbles, Nvidia was able to present the improved reflections, illumination, shadows, and all the other effects RTX can now produce with Nvidia's new Ampere architecture. At the end of the demo Nvidia showed how Turing could only display this environment at 720p and 30 fps with just 1 dome light and indirect light, meanwhile, Ampere is capable of rendering the same space at 1440p and 30 fps while also simulating 130 area lights and depth of field effects.Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Revealed
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/nvidia-rtx-3080-reveal-trailer"] Okay now we're getting to the actual meat of the show with the first GPU revealed as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. The new card comes equipped with 8,704 CUDA cores and 10GB of GDDR6X memory, that latter of which operates at the fastest 19Gbps memory clock we've ever seen on a GPU. Nvidia rates the card with 30 shader-tflops, 58 RT-tflops, and 238 Tensor-tflops that will all make it twice as powerful as the RTX 2080. The RTX 3080 starts at $699 and will be available on September 17.Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Goes RTX Too
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-rtx-on-trailer"] Nvidia gave us a quick breather between all the new graphics cards with a quick look at what Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will look like with ray tracing. There isn't too much new revealed in the trailer, but you can see plenty of realistic reflections off of glasses and metal. Interestingly it appears as if the game will be globally illuminated by ray-traced effects, including everything from room lights to flashlights and flames. This is a big step over early RTX-enabled games that only featured ray traced shadows or reflections. And Here's the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070

Vlambeer Closes Its Doors After 10 Years
Vlambeer, the Dutch indie studio founded by Rami Ismail and Jan Willem Nijman, has announced that it is shutting down. The news comes on Vlambeer’s 10th anniversary after it was founded by Ismail and Willem Nijman in 2010 while the two were still students.
Unlike other studio closures, Vlambeer has made the conscious decision to shut down its outfit, or “like a boyband splitting up,” as co-founder Rami Ismail said in an email to IGN.
Vlambeer’s 10-year career includes hyperactive takes on arcade-style gameplay. In 2010 the duo released Super Crate Box. The team followed with the successful Ridiculous Fishing in 2013, Luftrausers in 2014, and Nuclear Throne in 2015.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2015/12/16/nuclear-throne-review"]
Vlambeer confirmed that its current project ULTRABUGS will still launch and that there will be select support for former games.
“It’s not a sad day for us, but a happy conclusion to a whirlwind decade filled with screenshake,” the company said in a Tweet. “It feels like we’ve achieved what we set out to do — as a studio, as a voice, and as individuals, and we are extremely grateful for these past years.”
There is a Vlambeer and Friends goodbye sale live on Steam where you can check out the team’s past games, as well as other games from other indie devs.

Matt T.M. Kim is a reporter for IGN and congratulates Vlambeer on a prolific 10-year run.

DC Officially Makes Tim Drake Robin Again
In yet another sign the '90s have returned with a vengeance, Tim Drake has officially reclaimed the mantle of Robin in the DC Universe.
This change comes just under a year after Young Justice co-writer Brian Michael Bendis revealed a new costume and new codename for Batman's former sidekick. Tim has been using the name "Drake" ever since, a reference to both his surname and the member of the avian family. But in the pages of Young Justice #18, Tim chooses to revert to his classic costume and codename following an adventure with Spoiler. And as this team gathering shows, his fellow teen heroes seem very happy with that decision:
[caption id="attachment_2401786" align="aligncenter" width="1399"]

Interestingly, this story comes just one week after the release of Teen Titans Annual #2, which features Damian Wayne giving up the mantle of Robin. Mourning the recent death of Alfred Pennyworth and wanting to distance himself from his father, Damian seems intent on leaving both the Bat-family and the Titans behind to forge a new destiny.
[caption id="attachment_2401793" align="aligncenter" width="924"]
Art by Eduardo Pansica. (Image Credit: DC)[/caption]
Tim Drake was officially introduced as Batman's third Robin in 1989's Batman #436, remaining in the role almost consistently until Damian's debut in 2006. Tim rose to even greater prominence thanks to his animated debut in The New Batman Adventures.
Since Damian's debut, Tim has largely distanced himself from Batman. While at times he's begrudgingly shared the Robin mantle with the headstrong Damian, he's just as often tried to forge his own identity as either Drake or Red Robin. Now Tim seems content to return to the role many fans remember best, even while Damian becomes something else entirely.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for both Tim and Damian, but all signs point to major changes at DC Comics in 2021. With both Young Justice and Teen Titans ending in November, we're expecting a new Teen Titans series to launch in the aftermath of crossovers like Batman: Joker War and Dark Nights: Death Metal. We could even see Tim return to being Batman's sidekick. It's worth remembering Batman writer James Tynion IV is a self-professed huge Tim Drake fan and previously included him as a main character in his Detective Comics run.

Are you happy to see Tim back in his classic role? Let us know in the comments below.
In other recent Batman news, Batman may be getting a flashy silver costume soon, while DC is teasing a brand new take on the Dark Knight courtesy of 12 Years a Slave screenwriter John Ridley.
