PS5: Full-Priced First-Party Games Will Seemingly Be $70

Sony has revealed that full-priced first-party PlayStation 5 games will cost $70 at launch, seemingly pointing to a new higher price point on next-gen. Revealed in a PS Blog post after September's PS5 event, games like Demon's Souls and Destruction All Stars will come in at a $70 price point, while Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will come in at $50 (or $70 for the Ultimate Edition) and Sackboy A Big Adventure will be $60. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-game-and-announcement-featured-in-the-playstation-5-showcase-event&captions=true"] Changing full-price price points have been a hot topic as next-gen approaches. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has previously defended the company's decision to adopt a $70 price point, but Ubisoft is sticking to $60 for now. We've previously written about why $70 games make sense for PS5 and Xbox Series X, but why the timing for that rise couldn't be worse. Announced at September's PS5 event, we also saw much more of the game in an extended gameplay demo that really showed off the graphical grunt in Bluepoint Games' remake.
