Resident Evil 4 Remake Officially Announced for Next Year

Capcom has officially announced the long-rumored remake of Resident Evil 4, via Sony's State of Play today. Resident Evil 4 Remake will also be coming to Xbox and PC via Steam.

What's more, we got a pretty solid look at the remake via a detailed cinematic trailer captured on PS5, and a release date of March 24, 2023. We also learned that there's PSVR2 content in development, though no further details on that component were shared. And, per Capcom, we'll get to enjoy the remake on Xbox Series S and X and PC as well.

According to a PlayStation Blog post shared following the event, Resident Evil 4 will be a "reimagining" of the 2005 game's storyline, with an aim to "achieve state-of-the-art quality for a survival horror suitable for 2023, while preserving the essence of the original game." It looks like there may be changes to the original's controls in addition to graphical updates.

Suggestion of a Resident Evil 4 remake came as part of a Capcom leak in late 2020; a data breach reportedly discovered references to an RE4 remake among other future Capcom projects. The latest reports from the rumour mill suggest that the project was subject to a "partial reboot" within Capcom due to internal disagreements over its direction.

Horizon Call of the Mountain Will Will Let You Experience Horizon in a Whole New Way

The latest State of Play gave us an extended look at Horizon Call of the Mountain's gameplay, which is coming exclusively to PSVR2.

In this new story set in the world of the first two games, players will become a former Shadow Carja Warrior named Ryas who is looking to redeem himself by "investigating a grave new threat to the Sundom. He excels at climbing and archery (which are great for VR) and will have to do such things as scale "perilous mountains" and "taking down mighty machines like the Thunderjaw."

Even though players won't be seeing this world through the eyes of Aloy, they will run across them and other familiar and new faces along the journey.

This will also potentially be a great showpiece for the PSVR2 as, alongside the story mode, there will be a River Ride mode that will take players down a... well... river to enjoy the beautiful scenery. However, that doesn't mean there won't be some "uninvited machines" that try to get aboard.

Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe Release Date Announced

There’s good news for fans of the Beavis and Butt-Head series. The release date for the upcoming film, Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, was revealed today alongside a new trailer.

Mike Judge's classic duo's return will premiere internationally on the streaming service Paramount+ on Thursday, June 23. It will be the iconic duo’s first appearance in over ten years.

Beavis and Butt-Head are dipping their toes into sci-fi and Judge says the new film could easily “sit atop all future lists of the Dumbest Science Fiction Movies Ever Made.”

The movie, voiced, produced, and directed by Mike Judge, will have the two not-so-bright characters working at a space camp as part of juvenile sentencing. There they excel and are asked to join the mission to space, but ruin the mission and are left for dead. They eventually make their way into a black hole and travel from 1998 to 2022 and meet an alternative version of themselves.

Besides the new film, the duo can be seen in all their glory as the full library of 200+ remastered episodes will be available exclusively on the service alongside South Park at a later time. A new Beavis and Butt-head series is also coming later this year.

Earlier this year, Mike Judge offered a glimpse at what the two might look like now, middle-age spread and all. It has yet to be confirmed if this glimpse into the future will be seen in either the new movie or series, but perhaps that will be the alternate version they meet.

An exclusive look at the new movie will debut at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards, which air live Sunday, June 5, at 8PM, ET/PT.
