Ratchet & Clank PS4 to Get a 60 FPS Update for PS5 in April 2021

2016's Ratchet & Clank will be getting a new update in April 2021 that will make it playable in 60 FPS on PS5. Insomniac Games announced the news on Twitter, while also reminding fans that Ratchet & Clank is available for free for PS4 and PS5 owners through the end of March via its Play at Home initiative. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2016/04/11/ratchet-clank-video-review"] Sony announced the return of its Play at Home initiative last month, and shared that fans could expect four months of free offers for PlayStation games and entertainment. These free games are available for all, even those who do not subscribe to PlayStation Plus. Furthermore, the game is yours forever once you redeem it. This 60 FPS patch will give fans a small taste as to what Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will feel like running on the PS5 when it is released on PS5 on June 11, 2021, albeit without the upgraded graphics and effects. In our review of 2016's Ratchet & Clank, we said, "is a culmination of everything Insomniac has done with the series over the past 14 years. It takes the characters that we fell in love with long ago, and sets them off on their most gorgeous quest yet. The deep and rewarding weapon system, beautiful and varied worlds, and charming-as-heck story make it an adventure that anyone with a PlayStation 4 should strap in for." Mortal Kombat Movie’s Fights Aim to Be True to the Games, and the Characters

The fights in Mortal Kombat are true to the games and the characters involved, according to one of the movie's producers. With the release of the official red band trailer last month for the movie, fans received a good look at the ways the movie is similar to the characters and fights seen in the games. Mortal Kombat producer, Todd Garner, recently spoke to ScreenRant about the movie's commitment to its fights and staying true to the games. "Every single fight in this movie has its own personality, and it's true to not only the game, but it's true to the character," Garner said. "So I can't tell you who's fighting, but there's one of the most brutal fights I've ever seen on film." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/18/mortal-kombat-movie-official-red-band-trailer"] Considering the trailer's already shown Sub-Zero freezing Scorpion's own blood to create a dagger that he then stabs Scorpion with, Garner's hype around a fight he calls the "most brutal" is especially exciting. Garner goes on to say that this fight he's referring to is "the most violent, hand-to-hand, insane" fight and that "it's not who you would expect to have a fight." The producer also talked about Mortal Kombat's variety in fight choreography too, which further speaks to the movie's aim to be true to the games, as he put it. "There's also a beautiful operatic fight," Garner told ScreenRant. "There's swordsmanship and then you have a moment where you've seen in the trailer where Sub-Zero freezes Scorpion's blood and stabs him with it. So every fight has its own personality." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/19/mortal-kombat-movie-vs-game-characters-compared"] Fans of Mortal Kombat will get a chance to see how true to the games and the characters' personalities the movie is when it releases in theaters and on HBO Max on April 16. While waiting for that to release, read this story about how the movie is trying to respect the games' legacy and then read about how it's aiming to push its R-rating to the limit. Check out the second official trailer after that and then read about how the director tried to avoid green screen as much as possible when making the movie. Dead by Daylight's K-Pop-themed chapter 'All-Kill' will officially be released on all platforms tomorrow, March 30. Developer Behaviour Interactive is releasing a new collection of cosmetics called Seoul Sights to celebrate the occassion. Earlier this month, Dead by Daylight added the newest killer/survivor pair to its asymmetrical PvP horror game. Themed around the world of K-Pop, Dead by Daylight's new killer is called The Trickster, a murderous K-Pop star whose quest for the spotlight led him towards a path of murder. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/03/29/dead-by-daylight-seoul-sights-collection-trailer"] Behaviour Interactive worked with K-Pop singer Kevin Woo from the band U-KISS to help get the K-Pop elements of the chapter right. "I love how this chapter captures all the amazing elements of K-pop including the eye-catching visuals of the characters, addictive music, and cultural backdrop with a horror twist," says Woo. "I have no doubt that the K-Pop community will fall in love with this chapter as much as I did and I hope people who aren't familiar with K-Pop will get introduced to it through the All-Kill chapter." The Seoul Sights collection adds Korean streewear-style outfits including rare outfits for the survivor Yun-Jin, a rare skin for The Trickster, and more outfits for survivors Adam Francis, Feng Ming, Felix Richter, Elodie Rakoto, and Dwight Fairfield. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/03/29/dead-by-daylight-all-kill-release-date-teaser"] Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer game where four players control survivors who must work together and escape a fifth player who controls a killer. The killers include a mix of original and known horror characters, including murderers from Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw, Scream, and Silent Hill. Check out IGN's review of Dead by Daylight here, where we awarded the horror game a 9 out of 10 for its gameplay and roster of both famous and original horror killers. PAX East 2021 Cancelled, Organisers ‘Cautiously Optimistic’ for PAX West and PAX Unplugged

PAX organisers ReedPop and Penny Arcade have announced that PAX East 2021 has been cancelled. “In light of ongoing public health concerns, ReedPop and Penny Arcade will not hold PAX East this year,” the companies said in a statement. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/12/17/the-biggest-games-coming-in-2021"] As an alternative, another PAX Online convention will be held July 15-18, and an Indie Showcase will take place between now and then. ReedPop promise further details will be made available soon. “We will only move forward with a live PAX once we are confident the show will be safe for everyone,” the statement reads. It states that both ReedPop and Penny Arcade are “cautiously optimistic” that it will be adequately safe to hold PAX West and PAX Unplugged as live events, on September 3-6 and December 10-12, respectively. While quarantine measures and vaccination roll-out plans remain a work in progress, it’s likely that many video game events will be cancelled again in 2021, or at least moved into the digital space. ESA has already confirmed that E3 2021 will be a digital event this year. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt Purslow is IGN's UK News and Entertainment Writer.
