Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Was January’s Best-Selling Game

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot was the best-selling game in the U.S. for the month of January, according to NPD. Kakarot brought in the third-highest first month sales total for a Dragon Ball video game, coming in behind 2018's Dragon Ball FighterZ and 2002's Dragon Ball Z: Budokai. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-ign-dragon-ball-game-review&captions=true"] Grand Theft Auto V notably returned to the top five for the first time since August. As noted by NPD, it remains the best-selling video game of all time in the U.S. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the best-selling game of 2019, finished second in January's U.S. sales totals, dropping slightly from its spot atop the list in December. For the fifteenth consecutive month, Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console. As of December 31, 2019, Nintendo has sold over 52 million Switch units.

Indiana Jones 5 to Start Shooting in April, Says Harrison Ford

According to Harrison Ford himself, Indiana Jones 5 is set to start shooting in "about two months," which would see Ford back on set as Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones Jr. around April 2020. Speaking to CBS Sunday Morning, Ford was asked by correspondent Lee Cowan what the challenges are when returning to roles such as Han Solo and Indiana Jones after such a long period of time. "Trying not to look silly... you know... hang around in tight pants and high boots," Ford joked. "I'll give you a more appropriate answer, considering I'm going to start doing Indiana Jones in about two months." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2015/07/07/history-of-awesome-indiana-jones-and-the-raiders-of-the-lost-ark"] Assuming all goes according to plan, Ford will return as Indiana Jones this April for the first time since 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. In February 2020, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said the team is still hard at work "getting the script where want it to be" and that this newest entry will "not be a reboot, but a continuation." With Ford's confirmed return to the iconic role and this not being a reboot, it tracks with his earlier comments regarding Indiana Jones once he hangs up the whip and hat, stating "When I'm gone, he's gone. It's easy." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-best-movies-of-the-decade-2010-2019&captions=true"] As it stands, the currently untitled Indiana Jones 5 has a theatrical release date of July 9, 2021. Ford will next be seen in 20th Century Studios' remake of The Call of the Wild, a film that made our list of 59 movies we can't wait for in 2020. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Have a tip for us? Final Fantasy 7 Remake Releases 5-Minute Opening Cinematic

Square Enix has released the opening cinematic of Final Fantasy VII Remake way ahead of its April 10 release date. The five-minute movie blends some very familiar elements with plenty of brand new ones. It opens with a highly detailed look at the eclectic city of Midgar, taking the viewer on a journey through the bustling streets that are filled with construction workers and kids speeding around on bicycles. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/02/14/final-fantasy-7-remake-opening-movie"] The establishing shots are supported by newly orchestrated, breath-taking music, which swells to a peak as Aerith gazes up towards the starlit night sky. The camera pans out to reveal more breathtaking views of the vibrant metropolis before Cloud Strife makes his highly-anticipated entrance atop a high-speed train. This clip comes shortly after Square Enix released a batch of new screenshots from the highly-anticipated game, showcasing Tifa's moves in battle, as well as a look at the game's side quests, and, most importantly, some adorable and oddly proportioned summons. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=final-fantasy-7-remake-over-100-screenshots&captions=true"] The Final Fantasy VII Remake will invite players to jump into a hybrid battle system that merges real-time action with strategic, command-based combat, as they enter a world where the Shinra Electric Power Company – a shadowy corporation – controls the planet's very life force. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is now due to launch on April 10, 2020 for PS4 after its delay last month. Dreams on PS5 Is the ‘Obvious’ Next Step If It’s Successful

Bringing Dreams to PlayStation 5 would be on the cards next for developer Media Molecule if the game is successful on PlayStation 4.

This is what Dreams creative director Mark Healey said to VGC at a launch event for the game in London on February 13, 2020.

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/02/13/dreams-review"]

“Obviously at the moment we’re focused on PS4 and I would actually hope that it extends the life of the PS4 to be honest with you, then maybe when other companies start making games for it, the community will carry on making games for it, but if it’s as successful as we hope it is then it’s an obvious progression," he said about bringing Dreams to PS5.

VGC suggested that the backwards compatibility of the PS5 should make the PS4 version of Dreams automatically playable on Sony's next-gen console. “Well yeah, so I mean it works by default then, doesn’t it, that’s the thing,” Healey said. “I mean, we want to support it going forward, so we want to be there for the full story really.”

Healey added that as he considers Dreams a platform itself, "ideally in the future we'll migrate to whatever is relevant." But don't hold out for a PC version just yet, as while Healey said "that would be cool," he added "that's not something that's happening right now."

That's not to say a PC version of Dreams would never happen. "I think a lot of that depends on where the games industry goes in general, I suppose,” Healey remarked. It's also worth noting that there are rumours that Sony has recently changed tack when it comes to publishing its exclusives on other platforms, with a PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn apparently on the way.

Dreams allows you to tap into your imagination and create music, cooked breakfast art, and even whole games using its tools. But it also comes with a proper story mode that's worth playing through too.

It's actually out today on PlayStation 4. We have it a 9 in our Dreams review, saying that it's "a highly ambitious concept, and one that has been magically brought to life."

PlayStation 5 Manufacturing Costs Reportedly at ‘Around $450 Per Unit’

Scarce components have caused the manufacturing costs of the PlayStation 5 to rise to around $450 per unit, "forcing a difficult price-setting decision in its battle with Microsoft." As reported by Bloomberg, these high costs have caused Sony to take a "wait-and-see approach with PS5's price," which is different from past console launches as Sony usually sets the price the February of the release year, with mass production starting in spring. For comparison, the PlayStation 4 retailed for $399 USD and was estimated by IHS Markit to cost $381 USD to manufacture. If all things were similar with the PlayStation 5, Sony would have to have the PS5's price "be at least $470" to reach similar gross margin. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/02/07/next-gen-console-watch-how-powerful-ps5-xbox-series-x-may-be"] The biggest problem Sony is facing in regards to the PlayStation 5 is a "reliable supply of DRAM and NAND flash memory." One of the main reasons for the scarcity is that these parts are also in high-demand for smartphone makers. It's not unusual for consoles to be sold at or near a loss, as the games themselves and subscription services more than make up for it. However, sources claim that Sony is split on whether it should sell the console at a loss, if necessary, to match the Xbox Series X or find a way to make the PS5 profitable as it is. While the price may not be set, most of the PS5's components have been locked down, including the cooling system which is "unusually expensive at a few dollars per unit." Most cooling units for consoles cost less than a dollar, but "Sony opted to lavish more on making sure heat dissipation from the powerful chips housed inside the console isn’t an issue." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/02/01/next-gen-console-watch-ps5-and-xbox-series-x-news-leaks-analysis"] Sony has also said that the ongoing coronavirus outbreak has had no impact on PS5 production, unlike the Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch. Bloomberg's report also claims that Sony is planning on releasing a new version of PlayStation VR, which will go on sale at some point after the launch of the PlayStation 5 this Holiday season. Sony also believes that this console transition will be a more gradual one than previous generations. This is also due to the fact that many PlayStation 5 games will be available on the PlayStation 4.

[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=ps5-games-we-think-might-already-be-in-development&captions=true"]

Microsoft may very well wait until E3 to reveal the pricing of the Xbox Series X, so it may be a while, if Sony chooses to continue waiting, until pricing is known from the next PlayStation. Sony previously announced that it will once again not be attending E3. Sony's patient approach also extends to its plans on how it will fully reveal the PlayStation 5, as all we've seen so far is its logo, whereas Microsoft surprised the gaming world by showing off the Xbox Series X hardware at the Game Awards 2019.
