Chris Evans in Negotiations to Star in Little Shop of Horrors

Chris Evans is in talks to star in another movie adaptation of Little Shop of Horrors. Scarlett Johansson and Taron Egerton are also reportedly looking at roles while Billy Porter is set as the voice of Audrey II. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Evans would play Dr. Orin Scrivello, a dentist and abusive boyfriend of the character Audrey. Johansson is circling the Audrey role while Egerton could potentially play the lead character, Seymour. Greg Berlanti, the director of Love, Simon and the producer of DC's Arrowverse shows, will reportedly direct the film. Warner Bros. has supposedly been trying to get these actors since the fall. Porter is signed up while Evans is the only actor said to be in negotiations at this time. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/03/27/chris-evans-wasnt-originally-on-the-list-for-captain-america"] Little Shop of Horrors is a Roger Corman movie released in 1960. It was developed into a stage musical in 1982 that has continued to play around the world ever since. The stage musical was then adapted into another movie in 1986 with Rick Moranis as Seymour and Steve Martin playing the dentist. The story revolves around a geeky plant shop attendant named Seymour who's secretly in love with Audrey, one of the workers at the shop. Seymour returns to the store with a bizarre, venus flytrap-esque plant that he names Audrey II. The plant quickly attracts customers to the store and gives Seymour the attention he's always desired. The plant begins speaking to Seymour and demands human blood to stay alive. Seymour abides and turns to some dark places to keep his fame intact. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-25-best-disney-animated-movies&captions=true"] Evans may be best known as the good-mannered Captain America but recently played a dirtbag trust fund heir in Rian Johnson's thriller Knives Out. Egerton, Johansson, and Porter are coming off a critically-acclaimed 2019 that saw Egerton play Elton John in Rocketman, Johansson earning raves for her performances in Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit, and Porter winning an Emmy award for the FX series Pose, which was renewed for a third season. The writers of the Little Shop of Horrors musical eventually went to Disney to work on The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast. All three of those movies placed in the top five of IGN's list of the best Disney movies. Mission: Impossible 7 Production Halted Due to Coronavirus Outbreak

Mission: Impossible VII was set to shoot for three weeks in Italy but the production of the film has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. COVID-19 has infected over 200 people in Italy where six people have now died from the virus. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson for Paramount Pictures confirmed that the Mission: Impossible VII production plan has been altered to include a hiatus as a safety measure for cast and crew. "Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our cast and crew, and efforts of the local Venetian government to halt public gatherings in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are altering the production plan for our three-week shoot in Venice, the scheduled first leg of an extensive production for Mission: Impossible 7," a studio spokesperson told THR. "During this hiatus, we want to be mindful of the concerns of the crew and are allowing them to return home until production starts." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/07/13/mission-impossible-in-7-minutes-2018-update"] Franchise lead Tom Cruise, who reprises his role as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, was not in Italy for the shoot yet. Mission: Impossible 7's scheduled three-week shoot in Venice is not the first event in Italy canceled as a result of COVID-19. The Venice Carnival was shut down by Italy's government and Milan's fashion week was also impacted by the outbreak. Mission: Impossible 7 is slated for release on July 23, 2021. Christopher McQuarrie, who helmed both the fifth and sixth installments of the franchise, returns to direct. Henry Czerny, who played Kittridge in the first film, is set to return to the film as well. FIFA Pro Kurt Banned From All EA Games and Services Following Latest Attack

EA FIFA pro player Kurt‘ Kurt0411’ Fenech has been banned from playing all EA games or accessing EA services, the company announced. The unprecedented move comes after a months-long public feud between Fenech and EA which the company says“cross a line of decency into very personal attacks and breach our Terms of Service.” Fenech tweeted out about his ban by publishing the email EA sent him notifying the permanent closure of his account. In a follow-up Tweet, Fenech wrote "End of the day I have never said anything I shouldn't have. This is just deeper than anyone thinks. They didn't want me competing at events cos [sic] they were scared I'd win them, now I'm the 2nd biggest streamer of their game and they're scared I'll overtake their golden boy." Fenech has been an outspoken critic of EA for the past two years, escalating in a series of social media attacks on the company and antagonizing EA employees. During one livestream Fenech was caught on camera calling an opponent a "son of a b**ch" who "can't beat me, even on this piece of trash game. F*** you, EA." He also spat on an EA logo stitched onto a scarf. EA responded to these repeated attacks by permanently banning Fenech from all FIFA esports competitions in 2019 and beyond. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-ign-fifa-game-review-ever&captions=true"] Following Fenech’s ban, several EA FIFA staff Twitter accounts were hacked as part of a “targeted attack,” according to EA. The hacks were also part of a larger social media attack on EA staff members over criticism of FIFA 20. Fenech seemingly supported these hacks on his social media account. Fenech has continued to attack EA on his various social media channels and video platforms like YouTube and Twitch. One popular attack on EA by Fenech is to call the company “rats” and even released a diss track titled ‘Little Rats’ with another FIFA esports player Amenyah. SmartSelect_20200224-092240_Spotify Despite the ban and repeated warnings from EA, Kurt has seemingly continued to take jabs at the company which has resulted in the permanent ban from EA games and services. You can read EA's full statement and reasoning for the ban below:
“In November 2019, after a series of Code of Conduct violations as part of the EA SPORTS FIFA Global Series in which he threatened employees and other players, Kurt0411 was banned from competing or attending any EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Global Series events or future competitions. Since that time, Kurt has continued to post abusive and threatening messages and videos about EA employees and competitive players on social media and he has encouraged others to do the same. His messages have crossed a line of decency into very personal attacks and breach our Terms of Service. We will not tolerate threatening behavior. As a result, today Kurt0411’s EA account will be banned from playing our games and accessing our services due to these serious and repeated violations. We build games and communities for players to have fun. Creating a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone without fear of harassment or abuse is a vital part of that. Our Terms of Service include a Code of Conduct that we ask players to abide by to keep our communities healthy and safe. We have an ongoing focus to create communities where everyone feels safe and respected, including in-game toxicity reporting tools as well as new moderation tools. And, we will continue to add more features.”
In the past, pro gamers have been permanently from games and services but for infractions like cheating. One recent, high-profile permanent ban is the case of Jarvis “FaZe Jarvis” Kaye who was banned for life from Fortnite after it was revealed he used an auto-aim cheat tool in the game. EA has made building healthy communities a major part of its strategy to remove toxicity from the game community. The company says it encourages players to share constructive criticism on sites like EA’s forums, Trello Boards, and Discord channels, but also says that “When feedback crosses the line to threatening, personal attacks, we will take action to move it out of our communities.” IGN has reached out to Fenech for comment and he reiterated his statement on Twitter. "I haven’t said anything I shouldn’t have said," Fenech tells IGN over Twitter DMs. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt Kim is a reporter for IGN. You can reach him on Twitter.

Netflix Adds Top 10 Movies and TV Feature

Netflix announced that it's adding a new top 10 feature to the popular streaming service. By clicking on the appropriate tab, you'll be able to see the 10 most popular movies and television shows in your country. There's also an overall top 10 list that shows the 10 most popular selections from everything Netflix has to offer. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/27/the-witcher-season-1-review"] Additionally, every show and movie that makes the list will have a "Top 10" badge no matter where you find it on Netflix. The shows and movies featured in the top 10 lists will be updated every single day. Netflix said it's been experimenting with top 10 lists in the UK and Mexico since last year. The positive feedback from users made Netflix decide to expand this feature to more territories. This isn't the first new feature Netflix has been experimenting with lately. Earlier this month, Netflix finally gave its users the option to turn off the autoplay preview function. For more, check out everything that's coming to Netflix in March. Or read about an all-new character coming to Netflix's The Witcher: Season 2. PS5 Could Collect Your ‘Biofeedback’ Via Optional DualShock 5 Attachment

Sony has filed for another patent, this time for an accessory that can attach to a PlayStation DualShock controller and sense the player’s biometrics such as heart rate or even sweat. In an application filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe over the weekend, the company is looking to patent “A biofeedback sensor attachment for a controller,” that would comprise “one or more sensors for obtaining biofeedback information arranged such that at least one sensor is in contact with a user’s hand during normal use of the controller[.]” In a patent application here, Sony is exploring a controller accessory that can collect select biofeedback from players specifically: heart rate measurements and electrodermal activity aka sweat. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=igns-top-25-playstation-4-games&captions=true"] “There is a desire in computer gaming to provide an immersive and highly interactive experience for players, so as to enhance the enjoyment of the player,” says Sony in the patent description. “This has become of particular interest with the increasing availability of head-mountable displays (HMDs), which are provided with the intention of fully immersing a player in the in-game environment.” The last part of the description is likely a reference to VR headsets, a field Sony dominates, at least in the console space, thanks to the PS VR headset. This means the biofeedback accessory could work specifically with VR games. Biofeedback is a field in gaming that companies have experimented with before. Common suggestions for biofeedback accessories include usage in horror games where these tools can track when players are most scared. Health tools are another use for biofeedback and Nintendo once announced the Wii Vitality sensor for exactly that purpose before shelving the project indefinitely. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2017/01/24/2-minutes-of-resident-evil-7-running-on-playstation-vr"] Another detail in Sony’s patent application is how “there is a need to provide a low-cost peripheral" that can "provide increased functionality for a range of different applications[.]” So while there’s a chance the biofeedback feature could be found on PS5 Dualshock 5s, there’s an equal chance that this accessory is designed as a low-cost add-on similar to the DualShock Back Button attachment. Sony hasn't announced the biofeedback accessory officially, but it is the latest in a string of patent filings that hint and tease some new features the company is exploring and may end up on the PlayStation 5 controller. A Bionic Jellyfish Has Just Been Created

Scientists have been able to take control of a certain type of jellyfish and make it swim three times as fast without harming it. This technology could potentially lead to further exploration of Earth's oceans. Researchers have been able to achieve this through a microelectronic implant in a moon jellyfish, also known as Aurelia aurita, according to Medical Daily. The publication said the researchers are using, "twice the amount of metabolic effort from the aquatic invertebrate." Using this method, as opposed to other technologies, reportedly uses 10 to 1,000 times less external power. In the report, the scientists claim they can now "puppeteer" this "bionic jellyfish" and use them throughout the world. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-25-best-sci-fi-movies&captions=true"] “Because jellyfish are naturally found in a wide range of salinities, temperatures, oxygen concentrations, and depths (including 3,700 m [12,100 feet] or deeper in the Mariana Trench), these biohybrid robots also have the potential to be deployed throughout the world's oceans,” the report said. As creatures, jellyfish are able to self-heal and are unaffected by usual tasks, as explained by the researchers. Medical Daily says this comes only a week after it was announced that scientists implanted chips onto small insects so they can read their brain waves. This could ultimately lead to a new form of bomb detection. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/04/10/scientists-have-revealed-the-first-photo-of-a-black-hole"] Scientists have recently been able to create Spider-Man-esque silk and study visual communication with Orson Welles movies. They've also recently detected some crazy noises in outer space. What would you want to do with a fleet of robotic jellyfish? Let us know in the comments below. Grimes Leaked Her Own Cyberpunk 2077 Character’s Backstory

Canadian pop singer Grimes, who has a role in Cyberpunk 2077, revealed details about her character's backstory during a livestream. Warning: Spoilers for Cyberpunk 2077 follow. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/08/30/cyberpunk-2077-live-pax-gameplay-reveal"] [poilib element="accentDivider"] Grimes took fan questions during a livestream over the weekend, during which she was asked about her involvement with Cyberpunk 2077. The livestream has since been taken down, but a summary of the spoilers Grimes dropped can still be found on Reddit. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=7-cyberpunk-games-to-play-while-youre-waiting-for-cyberpunk-2077&captions=true"]
"I did my voice acting for Lizzy Wizzy, that game is going to be f***ing good. I mean I haven’t played it, but I saw someone play an hour of the game," Grimes said. "The game was fantastic, and I play a pop star who committed suicide on stage, and they had to quickly come and perform emergency surgery and replace her whole body with cybernetics while she was dead for an hour. Then she finished the show as a cyborg. One of the greatest pieces of performance art ever made."
It sounds like Grimes' character has a pretty tragic backstory, based on the quote. At The Game Awards 2019, it was revealed that Grimes is a part of the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack, along with a handful of other artists. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/13/cyberpunk-2077-soundtrack-reveal"] Cyberpunk 2077 was originally set to launch this April, but CD Projekt Red delayed the game to September 17, 2020. Even with the delay, the developers said they'll still have to crunch "to some degree" to get the game out on time. We recently learned that players who buy Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox One will be able to upgrade to the Xbox Series X version for free, thanks to Microsoft's newly announced Smart Delivery feature. If you want to secure your copy now, check out our Cyberpunk 2077 preorder guide. Hot Wheels Unveils Remote Controlled Tesla Cybertruck

Hot Wheels maker Mattel announced Monday that a remote-controlled Tesla Cybertruck is available for preorder. Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled the Tesla Cybertruck to the world last November and it became a viral sensation overnight. With a price tag of roughly $40,000, it's not a vehicle that everyone can own, but Mattel has somewhat of a solution. The remote-controlled Cybertruck is a 1:10 scale version and it has a price tag of $400. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=mattel-tesla-cybertruck&captions=true"] Preorders went live this morning, February 24, but they're already sold out as of press time. Anyone wishing to preorder can join a waitlist that will notify them if additional preorder slots are made. A 1:64 scale version is launching alongside the bigger model and it's also remote-controlled. That version will cost you $20. Both are expected to ship in December. Mattel's site details what owners can expect of their remote-controlled Cybertruck when it ships this year. The 1:10 version will be much more in line with the real Tesla Cybertruck, featuring the same trademark tailgate and functioning headlights and taillights. It features Chill and Sport driving modes, a removable plastic body that can be removed to reveal the vehicle's interior and grant access to the internal battery and drivetrain system, and a reusable cracked window vinyl sticker for good measure. The official site describes the 1:64 version as a 3-inch, radio-controlled Cybertruck that combines the Tesla design with the standard Hot Wheels vehicle size. This version features a Chill and Sport mode, just like the 1:10 version, and can be used on Hot Wheels track pieces. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=mattel-tesla-cybertruck-164-version&captions=true"] If this Hot Wheels version of the Cybertruck is your first look at the vehicle, you can catch up on the Cybertruck reveal and read about how the latest Tesla model is inspired by games like Halo. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/11/22/tesla-cybertruck-revealed"] [poilib element="accentDivider"] Wesley is a freelance news writer and guide maker for IGN and he definitely cannot afford the real Cybertruck, which makes this Hot Wheels version all the more appealing. The final unknown character for Streets of Rage 4, Floyd Iraia, has been announced alongside two ways of playing with others online and offline in the upcoming brawler. Floyd joins the roster of five characters as a cybernetic powerhouse brawler. The official description of his playstyle, as described via an official press release, reads:
"The new character, Floyd, dishes out serious damage with his incredibly strong cybernetic arms, a cutting-edge upgrade courtesy of Streets of Rage 3’s playable cyborg, Dr. Zan. Although Floyd’s movement and health recovery are slower than most, he boasts the longest reach among the playable roster and tremendous power, ensuring any combo he puts an enemy through will be devastating."
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/02/24/streets-of-rage-4-floyd-iraia-multiplayer"] Publisher Dotemu also showcased how cooperative play works with two-player online and four-player offline modes, as you can see in the video above. Katherine Johnson, NASA Mathematician and Hidden Figure, Dies at 101

Pioneering NASA mathematician, Katherine Johnson, whose work inspired the story of the 2016 film Hidden Figures, has died at the age of 101. "Our NASA family is sad to learn the news that Katherine Johnson passed away this morning at 101 years old. She was an American hero and her pioneering legacy will never be forgotten," NASA Administrator James Bridenstine announced on Monday. "Johnson helped our nation enlarge the frontiers of space even as she made huge strides that also opened doors for women and people of color in the universal human quest to explore space," he continued. "Her dedication and skill as a mathematician helped put humans on the moon and before that made it possible for our astronauts to take the first steps in space that we now follow on a journey to Mars." Born in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, in 1918, Johnson demonstrated advanced mathematical abilities from an early age. According to her NASA biography, she was handpicked to be one of three black students to integrate West Virginia's graduate schools. Johnson was hired by NASA in 1953. She utilized her talent to provide trajectory analysis for Alan Shepard's Freedom 7 mission, America's first human spaceflight, in 1961. She went on to verify the final calculations for John Glenn's Earth orbit in 1962. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2016/08/15/hidden-figures-trailer-a"] Katherine's remarkable real-life story was recognized in the movie Hidden Figures, adapted from the book of the same name. In the film, she was highlighted as one of the three brilliant African-American women who were behind some of NASA's greatest operations in history. Together, Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson crossed a number of significant boundaries, including gender and race lines.
