Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Tomogunchi Virtual Pet Is Now Available

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Tomogunchi virtual pets are now available and allow players to wear a cute dog, panda, ghost, and more on their wrist that each have moods and can all evolve depending on how you perform in-game. Revealed by Activision through a fictional Rothwynn Industries paid advertisement, these new Tomogunchi can be purchased in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare store for 1,000 CP or $10 USD, and must be equipped to use. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/03/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-tomogunchi-virtual-pet-trailer"] When you first join a match with the Tomogunchi equipped, it will appear as an egg ready to hatch. Shortly thereafter, a new baby Tomogunchi will emerge as your new best friend. By taking care of its needs, you will be able to grow it into a Child, a Teen, and a full Adult. Rothwynn also teases there may be "multiple pet forms and options to discover." Pressing the d-pad up or the up-arrow key will allow players to use the "Watch Interact" gesture and check up on your Tomogunchi. By doing so, you will be able to see its four faces that represent its emotional states - Hungry, Dirty, Unruly, and Sleepy. These faces will only appear when your one of your pet's needs must be met. Kills, Objective Scoring, Killstreaks, and Wins all lead to a happy Tomogunchi. However, failing to do so can cause your friend to go "from happy to neutral, to sad, and finally… to the grave!" [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=call-of-duty-modern-warfare-tomogunchi-virtual-pet&captions=true"] Underneath your Tomogunchi is a "bonus charge" meter and represents "a bonus method of evolving your pet more quickly than normal." Each pet requires either Capture, Killstreaks, Plants, or Top Three Wins to fill the meter. Details of Fox’s Unproduced X-Force Movie Trilogy Revealed

Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow was set to lead 20th Century Fox's X-Force trilogy, but Disney's purchase of the company put all those plans on hold. Now, details of what could have been have been revealed. As reported by Collider, CBM spoke to Wadlow about his X-Force project and he discussed how Tim Miller's take on Deadpool and David Leitch's Deadpool 2's introduction of Cable made his original plans for X-Force irrelevant.
"What I can share about my take on the property (as it’s not really relevant any more since Deadpool 2 introduced Cable, and I wrote X-Force before Deadpool 1 even came out), is that it asked if X-Men was about mutants who get to go to private school with Wolverine and Professor X, and have the Blackbird swooping down to pick them up, what about the mutants that have to go to public school? What about the ones who don’t have the benefactor looking out for them, and what about the kids who have to figure it out on their own? We then would have introduced that darker, more militant mentor in the form of Cable.”
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/05/17/deadpool-2s-cast-and-director-on-x-force-and-deadpool-3"] CBM followed up by asking who Cable would be teaching.
"I plotted out this three-movie arc that took X-Force from what it was in the 90s with Rob Liefeld with a band of kids fighting for what they believe in, and then by the third film, the group would have grown and changed and lost and picked up some new members, and basically turned into Rick Remender’s version of the X-Force in the early 2000s. That was a much darker hit squad and black ops team who had lost their way over the course of the three films.”
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=all-the-x-men-movies-that-probably-wont-happen-now-and-a-few-that-will&captions=true"] Liefeld's team included Boom Boom, Cannonball, Domino (who appeared in Deadpool 2!), Feral, Shatterstar (Deadpool 2!), Warpath, and Siryn. In 2010, Remender and Jeremy Opena had a team with Wolverine, Psylocke, Deadpool, Archangel, Fantomex, and E.V.A. Wadlow stated that he was "super grateful" to have written the script for the film, even if it has yet to move forward. However, he isn't giving up hope. “Kevin Feige, if you’re reading this, I will do anything at all to work on your version of the X-Men and X-Force," Wadlow said. "I’m a filmmaker because of 90s comics, so I obviously love them dearly, and it was actually a dream come true for me to write X-Force and meet Rob Liefeld. I loved doing it and would of course do anything to be part of whatever new iteration they have planned.” [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=who-are-deadpools-new-teammates&captions=true"] For more on X-Force, check out our explainer feature on the militant mutant team, a breakdown of Deadpool's X-Force teammates from Deadpool 2, and five reasons why an X-Force film could work. DuckTales: Remastered Is Back on Digital Stores After Its Removal

Following its removal from digital storefronts in 2019, DuckTales: Remastered is once again available for purchase on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One (via Backwards Compatibility), Wii U, and Steam. Capcom revealed the news without any explanation of why it was originally removed, but fans of Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey, and Louie now have the perfect excuse to jump back into the remaster of the 1989 NES classic. DuckTales: Remastered was originally released by WayForward in 2013 and, in our review, we said "DuckTales: Remastered is a worthy purchase for those who have experience with the original and are looking for a nostalgia rush. Just temper your expectations, because DuckTales simply isn’t as good as you probably remember." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2013/08/12/ducktales-remastered-video-review"] If that isn't enough DuckTales for you, don't forget that you can jump into Minecraft and play the official DuckTales-themed DLC that includes skins, quests, the city of Duckburg, the halls of McDuck Manor, and much more. The new DuckTales TV series was also renewed for a third season, even though no date has been revealed. Until then, you can watch the cast read an Avengers: Endgame scene in-character. Mark Wahlberg Is Only Signed for One Uncharted Movie

Sony Pictures may be thinking "franchise" when it comes to their upcoming video game movie adaptation Uncharted, but actor Mark Wahlberg told IGN that he is only signed on for one movie. We asked Wahlberg -- who is set to play treasure-hunting mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan to Tom Holland’s young Nathan Drake -- about sequels at Saturday’s press junket for his new Netflix movie Spenser Confidential, a project that could itself be sequelized given that it’s based on a long series of detective novels as well as an ‘80s TV show. While Wahlberg seemed open to revisiting the role of Spenser if the audience response was strong enough, he said he’s generally not interested in sequels and pointed to having only done two over his two-decade film career: Transformers: The Last Knight and Daddy’s Home 2. Watch what Mark Wahlberg had to tell us about Uncharted below: [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/03/uncharted-mark-wahlberg-is-only-signed-for-one-movie"] When pressed on Uncharted sequels -- a property that Sony must surely be thinking has film franchise potential -- a smiling Wahlberg said, “Well, they’re thinking a lot but, you know what, I’m in for one right now so we’ll see.” Wahlberg has a long history with the Uncharted movie, having previously been attached to play Nathan Drake years ago when David O. Russell was planning to direct. So what is it about Uncharted that has kept his interest in the project all these years? For Wahlberg, it’s that Uncharted offers him a chance to be in a movie that’s like so many classics he’s enjoyed. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-strange-history-of-the-uncharted-movie&captions=true"] “This is more of an origin story and so the way they’ve set it up it feels like Indiana Jones, it feels like Thomas Crown Affair,” Wahlberg said. “It’s got this great heist element to it. It’s got this Bond kind of feel to it. It just feels like, wow, this is the first opportunity to be in a movie that’s A Movie. So that’s exciting.” Uncharted will be directed by Venom’s Ruben Fleischer. The movie has just added Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali (Grey's Anatomy) and Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) to the cast. Uncharted begins shooting later this month in Europe and will boast multiple locations worldwide, according to star Tom Holland.

Hugh Jackman Thanks X-Men Fans on Anniversary of Logan’s Release

On the three-year anniversary of Logan’s theatrical release, Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman tweeted out a humorous and heartfelt message expressing his thankfulness for getting to play the iconic X-Men role. “3 years ago, on this day, LOGAN was released,” the tweet reads. “Thank you for the many (and I really mean MANY) years of sweat, steamed chicken and the role of a lifetime! #thankful #Wolverine #xmen #Logan” hugh jackman wolverine logan tweet Jackman debuted as the clawed mutant in 2000’s X-Men movie and continued to play the character for three more ensemble films (X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past) and three solo films (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Wolverine, Logan), not to mention two smaller appearances in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Apocalypse. Jackman’s popularity as Wolverine saw the entire X-Men franchise pivot around his character as Logan struggled to uncover the secrets of his past and defy his programming as a living weapon, all while making googly eyes at a certain psychic redhead. Logan brought the character's long and tragic journey to an end with a violent and moody rumination on legacy and mortality, and the film earned rave reviews for delivering such a satisfying final chapter for the beloved mutant. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-x-men-movie-rotten-tomatoes-score&captions=true"] While Jackman has always expressed nothing but love for the character, he has often shared his distaste for the rigorous workouts and diet plan required to get in superhero shape, which he playfully acknowledges in the tweet. He played the role for 16 years and 228 days, earning him a Guinness World Record for the longest time portraying a live-action Marvel superhero -- a record he shares with Professor Xavier actor Patrick Stewart. Jackman’s time as Wolverine ended with Logan, and now that the rights to make X-Men movies are with Marvel Studios, fans are expecting for a new actor to be cast as Wolverine so the character can join the MCU sometime in the next few years. If Jackman’s tweet is anything to go by, then we know one thing for sure: whoever gets the role had better like steamed chicken. For a trip down memory lane, check out our video where we took a stab at making sense of Wolverine's infamously convoluted story across the various X-Men films: [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2017/02/28/wolverines-x-men-movie-timeline-in-chronological-order"] [poilib element="accentDivider"] Joshua is Senior Features Editor at IGN. Top Gun: Maverick Release Date Moved Up

Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick will hit theaters earlier than expected this summer. The movie was originally scheduled to premiere on Friday, June 26, giving it the standard opening weekend for the summer blockbuster – but it has now been moved up two days and will release on Wednesday, June 24, as announced by Paramount Pictures. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-10-best-80s-action-movies&captions=true"] Top Gun: Maverick will open in the pre-Independence Day weekend against Warner Bros. Pictures' In the Heights, but it will get a two-day jump on that movie as In the Heights is scheduled for a Friday release that week. Paramount Pictures did not give a reason for the schedule change to Top Gun: Maverick. The Cruise-led movie could face competition in its second weekend, which is Independence Day weekend, as Ryan Reynold's Free Guy hits theaters on July 3. Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to Cruise's 1986 film, Top Gun, and it sees Cruise reprising the role of Lieutenant Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell. Joseph Kosinski is the director for the film and it's not Cruise's first time working with Kosinski, as the two worked together on 2013's Oblivion. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/07/19/top-gun-maverick-trailer-but-with-danger-zone"] Val Kilmer is reprising his role as Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky in Top Gun: Maverick and other stars like Ed Harris and Jennifer Connelly are attached to the film as well. The film will center on the relationship between Maverick and the son of his co-pilot from the original film, Goose. Whiplash star Miles Teller plays Goose's son and will be Maverick's protege of sorts in the movie. Absent from the cast is Kelly McGillis who played Maverick's love interest, Charlie Blackwood, in the original film. You can catch up on the latest with Top Gun: Maverick by watching the Big Game Spot from last month and the second official trailer released last December. We also got a look at the poster for the film and you might spot the difference in Maverick's jacket between Top Gun: Maverick and the original Top Gun and why that came to be. E3 2020 Moving Ahead ‘Full Speed’, Despite Coronavirus Concerns

With major gaming events like Game Developers Conference indefinitely postponed over COVID-19 concerns, all eyes are on one of the biggest events of all, E3, and whether it will follow suit. But according to the event’s organizers, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), it’s “full speed” ahead for E3 2020. In a statement to IGN, the ESA explained that “everyone is watching the situation very closely. We will continue to be vigilant as our first priority is the health, wellness and safety of all of our exhibitors and attendees. Given what we know at this time, we are moving ahead full speed with E3 2020 planning. Exhibit and registrations ales are on track for an exciting show in June.” [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=all-the-big-games-coming-in-2020&captions=true"] Several gaming events have already been impacted or outright canceled over concerns about COVID-19, or the novel coronavirus. The Taipei Game Show in Taiwan was canceled earlier this year, and following a spate of high-profile dropouts like PlayStation, Epic, Facebook, and many more, GDC also announced it was postponing its annual event in San Francisco, California. However, with the number of COVID-19 cases in the United States rising, the situation around E3 will likely evolve. But until then, the ESA says E3 will continue as planned. There will still be some notable absences from this year’s E3 that was announced before the COVID-19 outbreak. PlayStation will once again skip E3 after missing out last year, and so will regular host Geoff Keighley. Other publishers like Microsoft have confirmed their attendance. E3 2020 will be held on June 9, 2020, through June 11, 2020. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt Kim is a reporter for IGN. you can reach him on Twitter.

Researchers Discover Ultrasonic Waves Can Be Used to Hack Modern Phones

Washington University Researchers have discovered that voice assistant programs like Siri can be hacked with ultrasonic sound waves that go undetected by human ears - but you probably won't have to worry about it too much. Those same researchers say the environment required to make this possible is very specific and not likely to be found in everyday life. The researchers presented their findings on the Siri and Google Assistant-backed phone hack at the Network and Distributed System Security Symposium on Feb. 24. Their findings report is nearly 20 pages long, but the team published a summary on the Washington University website shortly after the symposium. The hack involves a series of pieces of equipment sending inaudible waves – which can still be picked up by most phone voice assistants – to a phone on the same table, and activating various functions of the phone, from taking selfies to reading out passwords or authentication codes in texts. 15 of 17 phones tested were vulnerable to this technique. "We did it on metal," assistant professor of computer science and engineering at the McKelvey School of Engineering Ning Zhang said. "We did it on glass. We did it on wood. It still worked. We want to raise awareness of such a threat. I want everybody in the public to know this." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2017/03/19/the-11-sci-fi-influences-that-made-mass-effect"] The conclusion reached by the researchers was that Siri and Google Assistant listen to sound frequencies much higher and lower than that of the human voice and when hit with ultrasonic waves in specific conditions, the programs will interpret such waves as a human voice. Zhang and fellow researchers created a number of scenarios to use the method to steal information through Siri and Google Assistant. Each scenario included an ultrasonic wave generator, a hidden microphone used to listen to the program's response, a piezoelectric transducer (which turns electrical signals into physical ones), and software capable of producing the necessary ultrasonic wave. Thankfully, you can already see how unlikely it is that someone would be able to do this in public. Researchers found that softer materials failed to conduct the signal of the ultrasonic wave rendering the scenario a failure, so if you're worried about this happening to you, just keep your phone on a napkin or in your pocket. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-25-best-sci-fi-movies&captions=true"] Zhang has said that it's unlikely this method of hacking will be used commonly: "I don't think we will see such an attack a lot in common places, but probably used for a more targeted attack." Scientists recently discovered that we're receiving wave signals from extragalactic space in an unexplained pattern, although these signals are radio and not ultrasonic. Scientists also discovered that the way we thought the brain processed movies might be false. Horror Game Darq to Get Free DLC This Week as a Thank You to Fans

Horror-puzzle game Darq will get free DLC this Friday, March 6, as a thank you to fans that supported the game when it launched last August. Darq made headlines in the lead up to its launch last year because the company behind the game, Unfold Games, turned down an Epic Games Store exclusivity deal from Epic. According to game's director, Wlad Marhulets, the eventual launch was turbulent, and the new DLC, dubbed The Tower, is being added for free as a thank you to fans that supported the game during that time. "It's a free DLC offering about 30 mins of new content, a way of saying 'thank you' to the players who supported the game during the turbulent launch," Darq director Wlad Marhulets told IGN. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="legacyId=20061112&captions=true"] Speaking about the Epic Games Store deal Unfold Games turned down on a Medium blog post, Marhulets explained that three days after sharing a trailer that revealed the game's Steam launch date to be August 15, 2019, an Epic representative approached him about an exclusivity deal. Marhulets said that pulling the game from a Steam launch right after announcing it would be coming to Steam would have forever ruined the credibility of Unfold Games. "I like money, and getting some upfront payment on top of guaranteed revenue sounds great," Mahulets said. "But although I'm a first time developer, I'm very serious about working in this industry for a very long time. I had just announced [the] Darq release date on Steam — pulling the game off Steam a few days after [making a] release date announcement would forever ruin the credibility of my studio." "I would like for my customers to have confidence that my word means something, especially when making [an] announcement as crucial as [a] release date/platform," Marhulets continued. "Turning down the Epic exclusivity offer might have been a foolish decision in the short term, considering the amounts of money that might have been involved. When thinking long term, however, this was an easy and obvious decision to make (in my case)." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/08/14/the-first-9-minutes-of-darq-gameplay-1080p-60fps"] If you haven't yet played Darq, you still have time with The Tower free DLC coming in a few days. We thought the game was good, giving it a 7.5 out of 10. You can check out the game's very first teaser trailer released in 2016 and then view the third teaser trailer released just a few months before the game launched in 2019.
