New Pokemon Snap Announced

New Pokemon Snap, a new version of the classic N64 Pokemon photography game, has been announced for Nintendo Switch. The game is currently in development for Nintendo Switch, and is listed as "coming soon". According to the endslate of today's Pokemon Presents broadcast, the game is being developed by Bandai Namco. Per a Pokemon Company description:
"The New Pokémon Snap game for the Nintendo Switch system is based on its namesake, which was first released for the Nintendo 64 console in 1999. This game will take Trainers on an adventure to unknown islands overflowing with natural sights such as jungles and beaches, where they can research various Pokémon in their natural habitats. They will take photos to make their very own in-game Pokémon Photodex, all while discovering new, never-before-seen Pokémon expressions and behaviors."
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/17/pokemon-snap-switch-official-trailer"] The New Pokemon Snap website clarifies that the game will include "deserts, jungles and more". The trailer confirms that Pokemon from multiple generations will appear in the game. The last time we saw Pokemon Snap was when it appeared on Wii U as a Virtual Console game. Back at release in 1999, we awarded the original game a 7.8/10 review, saying "through clever design, intuitive control, lots of traditional secrets and, of course, more than 60 Pokemon to snap pictures of and toy with, it's a game that is a lot of fun in spite of its seemingly simplistic design and nature." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=new-pokemon-snap-30-screenshots-and-trailer-images&captions=true"] New Pokemon Snap was by far the biggest, but far from the only Pokemon announcement today. We also learned about Pokemon Cafe Mix, a free-to-start puzzle game, Pokemon Smile, a free app to help toothbrushing(!), and the fact that Mega Evolutions are coming to Pokemon Go. We'll learn even more next week, when Pokemon Presents returns on June 24, a show which will contain news of another major Pokemon project. Pokemon Cafe Mix: Free to Start Game Announced

The Pokemon Company has announced Pokemon Cafe Mix, a free-to-start puzzle game coming to Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/17/pokemon-cafe-mix-official-trailer"] Revealed as part of Pokemon Presents, in Pokemon Cafe Mix, you are put in the role of the owner of a cafe for Pokemon. Puzzles are based around preparing drinks and dishes for your Pokemon customers, with a mechanic based on swirling Pokemon icons around and attempting to link matching ones together. There are a variety of different puzzles, but all appear to be rooted in the same icon-swirling mechanic. As well as being regular customers that you can befriend, Pokemon can also join your staff, where they will be able to aid with puzzle solving by using special abilities. And as time goes by, you'll also be able to extend your cafe with new areas. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=pokemon-cafe-mix-screenshots&captions=true"] Pokemon Cafe Mix will be available soon for Nintendo Switch and smart devices, and is a 'free-to-start' game with in-app purchases. In other news from Pokemon Presents, Pokemon Snap is coming to Switch, and a new mobile app called Pokemon Smile will help make toothbrushing more fun for children. [poilib element="accentDivider"]

Pokemon Smile, a Toothbrushing App, Announced

Pokemon Smile is a new mobile app that uses AR to make tootbrushing more fun for children. It's free, and out now on Apple and Android. Pokemon Smile features over 100 cartoon-y Pokemon that have been trapped by cavity-causing bacteria, and can only be rescued with skilful brishing. Using a phone's front-facing camera, kids (and, let's face it, a lot of adults) will have to clean all their teeth thoroughly to rescue 'em all. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/17/pokemon-smile-official-trailer"] The app can set reminders for toothbrishing, and can have timers set for how long brushing should take. Regularly brushing will unlock virtual Pokemon hats that will appear on the user's head while playing the game - and you can take pictures of the hats, and decorate them after the fact. It's not the first quality of life app associated with Pokemon - Pokemon Sleep was announced last year, with the aim of tracking sleep patterns turning sleeping into entertainment in and of itself. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/17/pokemon-presents-full-show-061720"] Alongside Smile, a Pokemon Presents broadcast today included announcements of New Pokemon SnapPokemon Cafe Mix, a free-to-start puzzle game, and the fact that Mega Evolutions are coming to Pokemon Go. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’s Myterious Female Lombax Is a Playable Character

The mysterious female Lombax from the PS5 Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart trailer will be a playable character in the game. Insomniac Games confirmed the news on Twitter, posting a picture of the as of yet unnamed character, noting that you will "play as Ratchet AND a mysterious new female Lombax" in Rift Apart's campaign. The internet took a shine almost immediately to this new hero, who wields a hammer and dons a pair of flight goggles, with some dubbing her 'Ratchette' in lieu of a confirmed name. She appears to Clank as he is flung into one of the game's titular rifts, and reacts with a questioning "Who?" when Clank asks where series protagonist Ratchet is. In that sense, it's suggested that inside of this particular multiverse (which appears to be doomed), she is the hero. You can check out the full trailer for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart below. According to a PlayStation Blog post, the game will use the PS5's ultra-high-speed SSD to allow the player to "seamlessly travel through different dimensions in mid-gameplay. The DualSense wireless controller will also "bring combat to life" with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers bolstering immersion. Rift Apart was one of many PS5 games shown off at last week's reveal event - you can check out every PS5 game announced, and learn more about the two models of the newly revealed PlayStation 5 console. KFC Has Opened a New Location… In Animal Crossing

KFC is expanding into the digital realm, starting with Animal Crossing. The fast-food chain revealed the news in a post on the KFC Philippines Facebook account, where you can see more of the fully kitted-out diner, and the company's extremely convincing digital Colonel Sanders cosplay. The detail on display is tremendous, including plates with bargain buckets, menu items adorned on easels and even condiments on the tables. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=kfc-in-animal-crossing&captions=true"] According to Ungeek, the promotion arrives thanks to a collaboration between KFC and advertising firm Ogilvy, and the island will even have an inaccessible area where Colonel Sanders stores his secret 11 herbs and spices. According to the Facebook post, KFC Philippines will be opening the KFC-themed island to the public. If you manage to get in, Colonel Sanders will be hiding somewhere and if you manage to hunt him down, you'll receive a code to redeem a free 8 piece bucket. Sadly for us outside the country, that only applies at stores in the Phillippines. There will be a daily queue to acquire the Dodo Code and get into the island, which will be open from today June 17th until next Monday, June 22. It's currently Wedding Season in Animal Crossing, so make sure to check out our guide to get all the June rewards and catch all of June's new bugs and fish before the month is over.
