Cyberpunk 2077: PC-Exclusive Ray-Tracing Effects Revealed
The PC-exclusive ray-tracing effects coming to Cyberpunk 2077 have been revealed by Nvidia.
As part of the graphics card manufacturer's technical partnership with CD Projekt Red, Nvidia is bringing four immersive ray-traced effects to Cyberpunk 2077, which will enhance the game's performance and fine-tune its fidelity. You check out screenshots of the effects in action below:
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=cyberpunk-2077-pc-ray-tracing-screenshots&captions=true"]
These immersion-bolstering effects include Ray-Traced Diffuse Illumination, which "captures sky radiance" and emissive lighting to ensure that the sun and moon "realistically illuminate Night City." The game will also feature Ray-Traced Reflections which as you might have guessed, make reflections more realistic in how they simulate the way light affects surfaces.
Ray-Traced Ambient Occlusion will also affect the game's shading tech on PC, further darkening objects with ambient lighting. Finally, Ray-Traced Shadows have allowed CD Projekt Red to bring "pixel-perfect shadows" to the game, as well as "directional shadows from sun and moon light" to further increase your immersion.

Cyberpunk 2077 will also utilise Nvidia's DLSS 2.0 technology, an AI Rendering system that uses a deep learning neural network to boost frame rates "while generating beautiful, crisp game images," which should in theory allow you to crank the settings on launch. Nvidia also revealed that the game will land on its cloud streaming service, GeForce NOW, at launch, with support for ray-tracing effects baked in.
It's possible that these ray-tracing effects could make it to the upgraded PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game arriving post-launch, but there's no confirmation of that right now.

Tenet Delayed to Mid-August Due to Surge in COVID-19 Cases
Christopher Nolan's Tenet has been delayed once more from July 31 to August 12 due to a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases.
As reported by THR, Warner Bros. announced the shift and that it will be releasing the film on a Wednesday to "allow audiences to discover the film in their own time."
"Warner Bros. is committed to bringing Tenet to audiences in theaters, on the big screen, when exhibitors are ready and public health officials say it’s time. In this moment what we need to be is flexible, and we are not treating this as a traditional movie release," a Warner Bros. spokesperson said. "We are choosing to open the movie mid-week to allow audiences to discover the film in their own time, and we plan to play longer, over an extended play period far beyond the norm, to develop a very different yet successful release strategy."[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/05/22/tenet-official-trailer-2"] THR also reports that Disney is expected to move Mulan's July 24 release date. Disney has already postponed Disneyland's planned reopening of July 17 as the state of California will not offer guidelines for reopening themeparks until July 4. Sources have said that WB and Nolan are "taking their cues from the exhibition community in pushing the film to Aug. 12, a Wednesday." Nolan had reportedly been very adamant in his desire to have this upcoming time-bending espionage thriller open in theaters in July, while Warner Bros. was a bit more cautious and wanted to push back the date. WB has also confirmed that the 10th Anniversary re-release of Inception has been moved from July 17 to July 31, so fans of Nolan will be able to see one of his films if that date holds. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-delayed-movie-due-to-coronavirus-so-far&captions=true"] With this new surge, theaters in cities like Los Angeles and New York City may also delay their planned July 10 reopening plans, as there may not be any big movies to draw guests back to the theater. While the wait may be a bit longer for Tenet, be sure to check out Nolan's comments on why it was easier to blow up a real jumbo jet than use VFX and read star John David Washington's comments on how the movie's plot even confused the cast. Ubisoft Responds to Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Its Team Members
Following multiple sexual misconduct allegations against Ubisoft team members, the video game company has issued a statement committing to take "any and all appropriate disciplinary action" against those guilty of abuse.
The full statement from Ubisoft is as follows;
"Concerning recent allegations raised against certain Ubisoft team members: We want to start by apologizing to everyone affected by this – we are truly sorry. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and safe environment for our teams, players, and communities. It is clear we have fallen short of this in the past. We must do better." "We have started by launching investigations into the allegations with the support of specialized external consultants. Based on the outcomes, we are fully committed to taking any and all appropriate disciplinary action. As these investigations are ongoing, we can't comment further. We are also auditing our existing policies, processes, and systems to understand where these have broken down, and to ensure we can better prevent, detect, and punish inappropriate behavior." "We will be sharing additional measures that we are putting in place with our teams in the coming days. Our goal is to foster an environment that our employees, partners, and communities can be proud of –one that reflects our values and that is safe for everyone."There has already been at least one major change at Ubisoft, as creative director Ashraf Ismail has stepped down from his role on Assassin's Creed: Valhalla following allegations of engaging in extramarital affairs. Ubisoft product and brand manager Andrien Gbingie was also accused of manipulation, emotional abuse, and rape. Gbinigie has denied these allegations in a now removed post on Medium.com. Ubisoft's Stone Chin was said to use "his position within Ubisoft's public relations team to prey on multiple women, with many claiming his behavior has been an 'open secret' for some time." - "Cartoon Wars" Part II (Season 10)
- "200" (Season 14)
- "201" (Season 14)
