Hyper Scape, a New FPS Battle Royale, Announced by Ubisoft

Ubisoft has fully revealed Hyper Scape, the FPS battle royale game that has been teased (and partially leaked) over the last few days. Hyper Scape is a free-to-play first-person battle royale coming to PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Ubisoft have targeted a Summer 2020 release, starting with a short closed ‘Technical Test’ on PC that will run July 2 - 7, with more ‘phases’ to follow in the build up to full release. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/02/hyper-scape-preview"] Set in a VR world called the Hyper Scape, the game focuses on a sport called Crown Rush, in which 100 players split into squads of 3 compete for victory. Wins can be claimed in the usual last-team-standing manner, or by claiming a crown objective in the final phase of the match and holding onto it for 45 seconds. Unlike most battle royales, Hyper Scape’s stand-out feature is that it takes place on an entirely urban map. This city - clearly influenced by Paris - is also littered with jump pads to allow for fast-paced vertical movement. The game is also connected to Twitch to allow spectators a level of influence over games and earn rewards just by watching. During the technical test viewers will be able to vote on in-game events, such as giving all players unlimited ammo. In the full game, viewers will also be able to unlock battle pass progression by watching people stream Hyper Scape, and even join the squad of their favourite streamers. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=hyper-scape-screenshots&captions=true"] The technical test, available on PC from today, features nine different weapons and nine ‘hacks’; special abilities such as a teleport and an invisibility cloak that can help give players an edge. The technical test also features a 10-tier battle pass for free, and anything earned from it will be carried over into the full release. To get in and play during this short period, you'll need to watch Hyper Scape streams on Twitch and wait for a Twitch Drop, which will then grant access to the technical test servers. For more on Hyper Scape, check out our hands-on preview of the technical test, which goes in-depth on its vertical map, new approach to death, and how it’s a battle royale without a shrinking circle. My Friend Pedro TV Series from John Wick Creator Confirmed

My Friend Pedro will be adapted into an R-rated TV series by the creator of John Wick. The show will be a half-hour dramedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Derek Kolstad, the writer of the first two John Wick movies and a co-writer of the third, will write the series and serve as an executive producer. The uncredited co-director of the first John Wick and director of Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw, David Leitch, will also executive produce the project. The game tells the story of a person who wakes up in a butcher shop where a banana named Pedro tells them about the secret and nasty operations of the butcher shop. The banana then teaches the player to commit murder. The creator of My Friend Pedro, Victor Ågren, said the game was inspired by the works of Kolstad and Leitch and it's a "dream come true" to see them adapt his game. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/06/17/7-things-that-inspired-my-friend-pedro"] "It's hard to find the words to describe the journey this game has taken," Ågren said in a statement. "'A dream come true' would be one way to put it - but in truth I could have never in a million years even began to imagine things to work out the way they have. The work of both Derek Kolstad and David Leitch (all the way back to his stunt days on films like The Matrix) has been a huge influence on shaping My Friend Pedro. To later find them attached to a TV-adaptation of the game boggles my mind. There must be something bigger at play here. As a solo developer tucked away in a small corner of the world, it really makes me think that as long as you create from the right place the result can reach even as far as the giants of Hollywood. Anything is possible and I truly can't wait to see what's next!" The company behind the My Friend Pedro series is the same behind the recently announced Disco Elysium TV series adaptation. Devolver Digital Co-Founder Mike Wilson is happy to see indie games getting the Hollywood treatment. “Major players in Hollywood have finally taken notice to the amazingly rich original worlds created by independent developers from around the world, especially games like the ones Devolver works on that don’t have to round off the edges for a mainstream audience,” Wilson said in a statement. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=6-video-games-that-should-be-netflix-shows&captions=true"] Kolstad said back in May that he was pitching a My Friend Pedro series as well as an adaptation of the 2017 indie game Bendy and the Ink Machine. My Friend Pedro was first released on PC and Switch in June 2019 and was later ported to Xbox One and PS4. In IGN's review of the game, we said, "Like the John Woo movies that it successfully emulates, My Friend Pedro is all about the action – and that action is excellent." Fallout TV Show In the Works at Amazon From Westworld Creators

Amazon Studios has just announced a Fallout TV series from Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy serving as producers.

Variety reports that Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are developing the Fallout show at Amazon based on the popular Bethesda video game RPG franchise.

Bethesda Game Studios will be involved with the development of the show and series director Todd Howard will serve as executive producer on the show.

"Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time. Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we're incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios," said Joy and Nolan in a statement.

[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-ign-fallout-review&captions=true"] "Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen," said Todd Howard in a statement. "But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right."

Fallout is a video game RPG series set in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of a nuclear war. Bethesda purchased the Fallout IP from Interplay in 2007 and turned the isometric RPG series into a first-person RPG with Fallout 3. Bethesda has since gone to create Fallout 4 and Fallout 76.

Plot details or casting haven't been revealed, so it's unclear if Nolan and Joy are creating an adaptation of one of Bethesda's Fallout games, or a new series set within Bethesda's universe.
