Borat 2 Will Debut on Amazon Prime Before US Presidential Election Day

Update (9/29/20) - The upcoming Borat sequel will be releasing October 23rd exclusively on Amazon Prime Video according to a report by Collider. Original story follows. [poilib element="accentDivider"] The sequel to 2006's Borat: Cultural Learnings of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan will be debuting on Amazon Prime prior to this year's US Presidential Election Day. According to Deadline, Amazon Studios has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the upcoming sequel. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-best-comedies-on-netflix-right-now&captions=true"] Arriving seemingly out of nowhere, Borat 2 was one of the first films to shoot during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak earlier this year. As filming restrictions were being lifted, Cohen returned with a skeleton crew to finish shooting. While fans spotted the titular character driving around parts of Los Angeles recently, the crew actually travelled internationally to film specific portions. As with the first movie, some places were more dangerous than others. Cohen even "risked his life multiple times to shoot the scenes in this film" even going so far as wearing a bulletproof vest on a couple occasions due to some of the film's locations. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2006/10/20/borat-cultural-learnings-of-america-for-make-benefit-glorious-nation-of-kazakhstan-movies-borat-press-conference"] Now, after months of filming undercover and remaining silent about the upcoming film, Cohen is ready to debut his first-ever theatrical sequel to the world just in time for the US Presidential Elections on November 3rd. Since movie theaters are either still closed or severely limiting moviegoer capacity, Cohen felt the best option was to release the film digitally for as many people as possible and thus struck a deal with Amazon Studios to allow the tech giant to distribute the film on Prime Video. No official release date has been given at this time, but with just over a month to go until Election Day we can expect some more classic Borat antics very soon. High five! Adult Swim “Permanently Retired” Episodes of Boondocks and Aqua Teen Because of Racial Content

Adult Swim has "permanently retired" an episode of The Boondocks and an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force as well as "temporarily rested" an episode of The Shivering Truth. The episodes are not currently available on either the Adult Swim website or HBO Max due to "cultural insensitivities." When HBO Max, which also hosts Adult Swim content, launched in May 2020, it didn't take fans long to realize that episodes were missing. The Adult Swim Reddit page has a user pointing out on HBO Max's launch date that episodes of The Boondocks that were once banned are on the service, except for season 3, episode 4 "The Story of Jimmy Rebel." The Aqua Teen Reddit page has a user complaining back in June about the lack of season 6, episode 2 "Shake Like Me." The Aqua Teen episode was reportedly reinstated back in August, according to another Reddit user, but is currently not available. A representative for HBO Max told The Daily Beast in an article published on Tuesday that “neither of those episodes are part of our streaming deals.” Variety reports that the "Shake Like Me" episode was uploaded "due to a software error and was promptly removed." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/29/following-splash-mountain-ride-redesign-some-call-for-disney-to-change-jungle-cruise-next"] Adult Swim takes the blame and says that the removed episodes don't line up with their current "policies." "When Adult Swim transitions series to a new platform, we determine what episodes are selected through creative and cultural filters and our standards and practices policies," the Adult Swim representative told The Daily Beast. "Oftentimes these decisions are made in collaboration with the show’s creators.” The Aqua Teen and Boondocks episodes are now "permanently retired due to cultural sensitivities." For example, the episode of The Boondocks that was retired features the character Uncle Ruckus partnering with a racist country singer. The Daily Beast contacted the creator of The Boondocks, Aaron McGruder, but a representative for him declined to comment. McGruder recently signed up for a two-season revival of The Boondocks that will air exclusively on HBO Max. HBO Max and the Adult Swim website has incorrectly labeled The Boondocks season 3 to hide the missing episode. Episode 5 is now listed as episode 4, episode 6 is now listed as episode 5, etc. HBO Max has all of Aqua Teen's episodes listed correctly, and South Park, which has episodes missing from HBO Max because of potential terrorist threats, also has their episodes listed correctly. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-25-best-adult-cartoon-tv-series&captions=true"] The Adult Swim series The Shivering Truth has also had an episode removed from the Adult Swim website. The Daily Beast says the episode that was removed featured "a pregnant woman who gives birth to a police officer, who is then called a 'dirty pig.'" Adult Swim told The Daily Beast that that episode will "be returning to the site and included when the series debuts on HBO Max." They did not specify when that will be. HBO Max and Adult Swim are both owned by WarnerMedia, which previously received praise for how they handled controversial content by not editing or hiding it. WarnerMedia reissued a Tom and Jerry Blu-ray as recently as March 2020 that comes with an unskippable, 45-second content warning that plays before the main menu about the racism in the cartoons and how editing them "would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed." Two months after that Tom and Jerry Blu-ray came out and the murder of George Floyd has sparked a new policy in Hollywood regarding controversial content. An episode of The Office had blackface content edited out and the Dungeons and Dragons episode of Community was removed altogether. Other TV shows such as 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Scrubs have also had episodes removed due to blackface. Disney also announced plans to remodel the Splash Mountain ride at their theme parks after petitions from some Disney fans showed up online. Little Boy Donates Baby Yoda Doll to Firefighters Who Now Bring It With Them

The Force is strong with firefighters after a little boy donated his Baby Yoda doll, which they now carry with them to the frontlines of battling wildfires in Oregon, California, Wyoming, and Colorado. A five-year-old named Carver donated a doll of The Child, the breakout star of Disney Plus' The Mandalorian, to a drive supporting firefighters battling blazes in Molalla and Colton, Oregon. Carver included a note that read: "Thank you, firefighters. Here is a friend for you, in case you get lonely. Love, Carver." Awwwwww! [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/the-mandalorian-season-2-trailer"] "These firefighters are away from their children, their loved ones. This is a little pal that brings a bit of normalcy to a crazy time," Carver's grandmother, Sasha Tinning, told CNN. Tinning added, "To have a little bit of sunshine during such a dark time, I think that's really special for them. He (Baby Yoda) is also just cute as the dickens." Now, the Baby Yoda doll has become a companion to firefighters across the Pacific Northwest and West as they go out on calls. Three Jokers: Batman Faces the Return of His Greatest Foe

DC has released the middle act of Three Jokers, the long-awaited spiritual sequel to Batman: The Killing Joke. And unsurprisingly, there are more huge reveals as Batman, Batgirl and Red Hood investigate the mystery of the three Jokers and what this trinity of evil has planned for Gotham City. Read on to learn what happens in this issue and why Batman has more to worry about than just Joker himself. Beware of full spoilers ahead for Three Jokers #2! [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=batman-faces-the-deadly-mystery-of-the-three-jokers&captions=true"]

Jason Todd's Dark Destiny

Three Jokers #1 was plenty shocking in its own right, revealing Jason Todd's darkest secret and ending with the former Robin brutally executing The Clown, the version of Joker responsible for (almost) killing him back in 1988's Batman: A Death in the Family. But even with one of their number gone, The Criminal (the original Golden Age Joker) and The Comedian (the modern Killing Joker-era Joker) are still hard at work carrying out their master plan. They've been kidnapping and experimenting on dozens of unwitting Gothamites, all in the hope of creating a newer and even deadlier incarnation of the Clown Prince of Crime. Jason is the first to track down the two Jokers, hoping to finish the job he started with The Clown. But instead he's captured and tortured by the Jokers, forced to relive that terrible night The Clown nearly beat him to death with a crowbar. However, the Jokers don't kill Jason. They're still holding out hope he's the specimen they've been searching for - the man capable of becoming the perfect Joker. After all, he's already transformed into Red Hood. Maybe all he needs is that one, final push into madness. [caption id="attachment_2413955" align="aligncenter" width="1348"]Art by Jason Fabok. (Image Credit: DC) Art by Jason Fabok. A New Bat-Family Romance

Batman and Batgirl arrive too late to stop the two Jokers, but they rescue the physically and psychologically battered Jason. As Batman continues his hunt for the remaining Jokers, Barbara brings Jason back to her apartment to recuperate. There he discovers a stack of self-help books and mementos from Barbara's years of physical therapy recovering from her gunshot wound in The Killing Joke. For the first time, Jason realizes how much he and Barbara are alike and how much they both carry the lingering trauma of the Joker in their lives. Barbara tells Jason the one thing no one in the Bat-family has been able to admit - they all wish they had done more to help him recover from his near-death experience and help him find his way back into the light. At that moment, the two throw caution to the wind and kiss. [caption id="attachment_2413954" align="aligncenter" width="1332"]Art by Jason Fabok. (Image Credit: DC) Art by Jason Fabok. (Image Credit: DC)[/caption] At this point it's unclear whether Three Jokers is setting up an ongoing romance between Batgirl and Red Hood or if this is just a case of two emotionally vulnerable people processing a very heated moment. As it is, Three Jokers' place in current DC continuity is vague. But we do have to wonder if this surprise moment could wind up impacting the long-running Barbara Gordon/Dick Grayson relationship going forward.

Batman's Original Enemy Returns

While Batgirl focuses more on helping Red Hood, Batman's single-minded quest brings him to Blackgate Penitentiary, the prison that houses Gotham's non-criminally insane felons. After examining the body of a corrupt, murdered judge, Batman discovers the fingerprints of the man who sent him down the path toward becoming a costumed vigilante in the first place - Joe Chill. But how can that be when Chill himself has been locked up in Blackgate for years? Batman attempts to confront Chill in his cell, at which point his fearsome façade cracks and we see a glimpse of the wounded boy beneath: [caption id="attachment_2413956" align="aligncenter" width="1329"]Art by Jason Fabok. (Image Credit: DC) Art by Jason Fabok. (Image Credit: DC)[/caption] Batman discovers Chill's cell is empty, with Batgirl informing him Chill is currently dying of terminal cancer in Blackgate's infirmary. Batman is left to return to his cave and ponder how Chill factors into The Criminal and The Comedian's plans. Further complicating that mystery is the fact that The Comedian seems to have a twisted obsession with Chill's family. The opening pages of this issue show him driving to a quiet suburb and enjoying dinner with a mother and son who clearly want nothing to do with him. That dinner is eventually shown to be part of The Comedian's overactive imagination, but photos at Chill's bedside reveal that mother and son do exist, and they're Joe Chill's family. [caption id="attachment_2413957" align="aligncenter" width="1324"]Art by Jason Fabok. (Image Credit: DC) Art by Jason Fabok. (Image Credit: DC)[/caption] The two surviving Jokers are clearly fascinated with the criminal who created Batman, and we get a better idea of why that is in the closing moments of Three Jokers #2. The two Jokers kidnap Chill and film him, hoping to force a confession about his true reasons for murdering the Waynes. Traditionally, the Wayne murders have always been depicted as an act of senseless violence by a desperate mugger. This issue seems to suggest a deeper motive at play. Perhaps Chill was hired as a hitman by a powerful Gothamite hoping to end Thomas Wayne's philanthropic crusade? Or did some version of the Joker exist even then, knowing full well the deaths of the Waynes would fuel the rise of his beloved Batman? We'll find out the truth when the third and final chapter of Three Jokers arrives on October 28. Diablo 4’s Endgame Is Being Designed to Make Hardcore Players Happy

The developers behind Diablo 4 have published a new update about the ongoing development of the highly-anticipated dungeon-crawler. The latest blog covers specifically how Blizzard is retooling skills and talents for the upcoming sequel, as well as the end game progression. The first matter the Diablo 4 devs tackle is skill progression. According to user feedback, the skill progression as it was felt too simple and did not incentivize players to spend skill points. For Diablo 4 Blizzard split the Skill tree into a separate “Skills” and “Passives” section. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=diablo-4-skill-tree-update&captions=true"] Leveling points in the Skill section will affect different skills in ways that can lead to big power increases and customize playstyles to your liking. While leveling the Passive abilities will lead to more general upgrades to your character. Blizzard says that by endgame, players will have 30-40% of the skill nodes filled and that’s intentional. Players will not be able to acquire every Skill Tree node during their playthrough. The developers also touched on the endgame plans for Diablo 4. While Blizzard says it’s still in development and there won’t be specific details anytime soon, the philosophy for the endgame is to give it more depth and replayability than what is currently available with the Paragon system in Diablo 3. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/11/01/diablo-4-reveal-trailer"] Paragon essentially makes it so players kill monsters to grind out small improvements for their characters. While there are no details about Diablo 4’s endgame, Blizzard wants it to be where the “easy to learn, difficult to master” idea comes most into play “where the difficult to master component will come in and should meet the expectations of the most hardcore Diablo players out there.” Check out Blizzard’s full blog for details about specific Sorceress class changes and read our Diablo 4 preview from the last BlizzCon.
