Just a Piece of Cyberpunk 2077’s Japanese Script Is Basically the Size of a Coffee Table

If you wanted a visual representation of quite how much voiced dialogue there'll be in Cyberpunk 2077, look no further than a section of the Japanese script, which is, not to put too fine a point on it, massive. To celebrate the game going gold, CD Projekt Red's Japanese localization manager, Yuki Nishio, showed off what he says is just a part of the Cyberpunk dub script - making up four stacks of paper that each look to be 2 or more feet tall. It's basically a coffee table: It's not clear quite how much of the script this section makes up, but it's more than clear that there's going to be a lot of voiced dialogue in the course of CD Projekt Red's long-awaited RPG. At one point, the sheer size of that script seems to have meant some expected languages weren't going to be added – last year, the developer announced that it wouldn't be able to add Korean voiceover. However, to celebrate Hangeul Day (Korean Alphabet Day), founder Marcin Iwinski revealed that the studio had reversed the decision and will add a free voiceover update pack in December. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/25/cyberpunk-2077-hands-on-what-we-think-after-4-hours-in-night-city"] That sizeable script is likely down to the sheer breadth of things you can get up to in your time in Night City. We played just 4 hours of the game earlier this year, and discovered a very open world, saying, "Though many open-world games up to this point have shown off cleaner and dirtier cities, few were true playgrounds with explorable buildings and interesting activities. However, it’s looking like Cyberpunk 2077 could be a game to offer us just that." We'll learn more about the game next week, during the fourth episode of CD Projekt Red's Night City Wire livestream showcase for Cyberpunk 2077. It's coming on Thursday, October 15 at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5 pm UK and will "go into details about the looks, sounds, and specs of Cyberpunk 2077 vehicles." Robert Downey Jr. Planning to Build Out a Sherlock Holmes Cinematic Universe

Robert Downey Jr. has revealed his plans to expand the Sherlock Holmes franchise into a new cinematic universe with multiple spinoffs. Speaking on a keynote panel at the Fast Company Innovation Festival earlier this week, Downey Jr. and producing partner Susan Downey outlined their intentions to spin a "mystery-verse" out of the third Sherlock Holmes film, which is being directed by Rocketman helmer Dexter Fletcher. In their minds, the new sequel would serve as an entry point into a new Holmes-inspired universe. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2009/12/23/sherlock-holmes-movies-robert-downey-jr-and-jude-law"] "At this point, we really feel that there is not a mystery-verse built out anywhere, and Conan Doyle is the definitive voice in that arena, I think, to this day," Downey Jr. said about the future of the Sherlock Holmes franchise. "So to me, why do a third movie if you're not going to be able to spin off into some real gems of diversity and other times and elements?" "We think there's an opportunity to build it out more," Susan said about the duo's prospective plans to expand the Sherlock Holmes film franchise into a shared universe with various projects. "Spin-off characters from a third movie, to see what's going on in the television landscape, to see what Warner Media is starting to build out, things with HBO and HBO Max." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2017/07/05/robert-downey-jr-on-the-right-time-to-leave-the-mcu"] The couple said that this type of project would be backed by the lessons that they both learned from their "decade of tutelage" working on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which Downey Jr. helped to launch in 2008 with the release of Iron Man. "I do think that the decade of tutelage and observation, what we were both able to have with Marvel, watching them build out and see all the opportunities, was invaluable. It was like a master class," Susan said. "And they really did know what they were doing and they had this tight-knit group of people from [the] jump locked into a vision that enables them to broaden [the comics]." "What I saw was very humble beginnings, very uncertain outcomes, a lot of creative risk-taking, but there was also an algorithm to the potential," Downey Jr. added. "It's also having the right people. Different sensibilities will get you to different places downfield." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-plot-thread-the-mcu-abandoned&captions=true"] The third Sherlock Holmes film has an expected release date of December 21, 2021. That makes it 10 years between the second and third Sherlock Holmes film. Warner Bros. says there were always plans for a third Sherlock Holmes film, but Downey Jr's Iron Man schedule prevented filming on the third film. Downey Jr. discussed Sherlock Holmes 3 back in 2016 and said that he hoped to start production on the film that year, though it never came to fruition. Since then, his commitments with Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have ended, so Downey Jr.'s schedule may finally allow him to return to Baker Street. Marvel’s Avengers Boss Promises New Missions and Modes in ‘the Weeks Ahead’

Crystal Dynamics Studio Head Scot Amos has said he's "confident" that players will return to Marvel's Avengers, with new missions and modes promised to arrive in "the weeks ahead." Amos issued a statement to Kotaku, who asked the developer for comment in light of what appears to be a diminishing player base, particularly on Steam, where it is now peaking at around 2,000 players a day, and has been dropping to less than 1,000. "We have a number of new content pieces coming in the weeks ahead including: a totally new War Zone mission type called Tachyon Rifts, a new Outpost that’s a jumping-off point for new story missions in the future, and AIM’s Cloning Lab, which requires a coordinated high-level group of four players to beat with new top-end loot rewards for finishing it," says Amos. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/24/marvels-avengers-launch-trailer"] Amos also touched on the forthcoming heroes, Kate Bishop and Clint Barton, who will arrive in "the near future." "These new Operations pick up right from where the main Reassemble campaign ended in the core game and will propel the overall world story forward with new mysteries and villains, as well as new multi-player content," Amos explains. As well as the new heroes, missions and modes, Amos also noted that "loot distribution and quality of life features" are on the way to address feedback from players. "We are confident that we’ll see PC players (as well as those on Xbox One and PlayStation 4) return to the game as we add exciting new late-game content and demonstrate that we continue to be focused on improving the game," Amos adds. An update blog is coming next week with more details as well as "community communication initiatives" on the way in the near future. We reviewed Marvel's Avengers back when the game launched in early September, scoring it a 6 and calling the post-game "unrewarding and overly repetitive. The game's 1.3 patch recently fixed over 1,000 player-reported issues. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Jordan Oloman is a freelance writer for IGN. Follow him on Twitter.

Microsoft Is Reportedly Bringing xCloud to iOS in 2021

Microsoft is reportedly working on a "direct browser-based solution" that will allow it to bring its cloud gaming service, previously known as Project xCloud, to iOS and iPadOS devices in 2021. As reported by Business Insider and The Verge, Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed the news during a "recent internal all-hands meeting." He stated "we absolutely will end up on iOS. We'll end up on iPhones, and iPads with Game Pass." The newly announced Amazon Luna may hint at Xbox's alleged plan, in that it will bypass Apple's App Store by being playable through the iOS Safari browser and will not be a native app. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/05/xcloud-might-be-xboxs-secret-weapon-unlocked-455"] Xbox's cloud gaming service recently launched on Android devices for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, however, Apple's App Store policies and guidelines make it very difficult for services like Xbox's cloud gaming and Google Stadia to exist on its platform. Apps for streaming services are allowed on Apple's App Store, but only as a "catalog app" that will help users sign up for the service and see what games are available. The tricky part is that Apple says each game on the service must also have its own individual App Store page, which is a problem for services like Xbox's cloud gaming that has over 150 games. Microsoft has spoken out against Apple and its policies, who is also currently in a fight with Epic Games over Fortnite and its customary 30 percent cut. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=confirmed-xbox-series-x-games&captions=true"] While Spencer's comments have yet to be made publicly, he did mention that he would like to see xCloud on Xbox consoles and PC in the future, but that those requests are "just a bit further down" a long list of "cool things the xCloud team is working on." Ghost of Tsushima’s Next Update Lets You Pet Dogs and Turn Them Into Allies

Ghost of Tsushima's version 1.1 update will bring with it New Game+ and the co-op Legends mode, but now we know what may very well be its most important addition - the Charm of Canine Recruitment that will let you pet dogs and turn them into allies a.k.a. your new best friend. Announced by developer Sucker Punch on Twitter, this Charm of Canine Recruitment will unfortunately only be available in New Game+, but those looking forward to Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be happy to know you will be able to pet the spirit dogs. During the main game players were able to pet Foxes, and had done so 8.8 million times within two weeks of Ghost of Tsushima's release on July 17, 2020. This wonderful news is another cherry on top for the version 1.1 update that will add Ghost of Tsushima: Legends for all owners of the base game for free. This new, online cooperative multiplayer experience will feature two-player story missions and four-player survival missions, as well as a raid that will be released "weeks following launch." There will also be more to do and gain in New Game+ besides making dogs your new best friend, including all players having access to a New Game+ horse, other new Charms, and a Ghost Flower merchant that will allow you to exchange Ghost Flowers for Charms, new armor dyes, and other vanity gear that can only be found in New Game+. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Spiritual Successor in the Works From Original Writer

Award-winning game designer Sam Barlow is cooking up a pitch for a spiritual successor to Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, which he served as lead designer and writer on in 2009. However, the pitch will not be for Konami nor will it use the Silent Hill IP. Barlow, who is best known for his award-winning games like Her Story and Telling Lies, teased on Twitter that he’s working on a pitch for a Shattered Memories follow-up. Speaking to IGN, Barlow clarified exactly what this pitch entails. “[W]e have a game we’re looking to make which is very much ‘what was special about [Shattered Memories]?’ ‘how would you take that further now?’” Barlow says. “Like Outer World’s take on Fallout, or Bloodstained’s take on Castlevania, etc. So it’s not a Konami or branded Silent Hill thing.” [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/08/16/telling-lies-e3-trailer"] Barlow also says that it will incorporate lessons he’s learned from Her Story, Telling Lies, and his upcoming Project A and roll them back into a 3rd person game experience. Barlow is currently developing Project A, which is not the Shattered Memories follow-up. However, he confirmed that Project A will be “spooky” and that wishlisting the game will serve as a “downpayment on the [Shattered Memories] successor, also known as Project Door Peek.” Silent Hill: Shattered Memories was a 2009 retelling of the original Silent Hill game. Like the original PlayStation 1 horror game, Shattered Memories followed Harry Mason as he searches for his daughter in the town of Silent Hill. The game used psychological profiles to cater to the player and change elements of the story for every individual. Some, like this author, consider it one of the best Silent Hill games in the series. Soul to Premiere on Disney Plus, Skipping Theatrical Release

Disney announced that upcoming Pixar film Soul will skip its theatrical release and head straight to Disney+ this holiday season. It will debut exclusively on the streaming service December 25th, 2020. Originally scheduled to open in theaters on November 20th, it was heavily rumored that Soul would move to Disney+ after Disney’s upcoming movie release schedule was delayed again. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-upcoming-disney-and-pixar-animated-movie&captions=true"] This is the third major Disney film to forego theaters in lieu of Disney+ after Artemis Fowl joined the service on June 12th and Mulan debuted on September 3rd, albeit with a premium fee required to watch the latter. It’s unclear if Soul will be included at no additional cost to Disney+ subscribers, or if it will require paying the premium rental fee for a limited time - we're guessing the former, given that there was no additional cost announced in Disney's press release. For markets where Disney+ isn’t available, Soul will still be released theatrically with new release dates being announced soon. How to Find and Enter the Vault in Doom's Domain

To enter the vault in Doom's Domain, you must first defeat Doctor Doom, who can be found inside the large house towards the Northern side of the town. fortnite-week-7-challeneges-find-dooms_domainDoctor Doom can deal quite a bit of damage, so it's important to use your environment to your advantage as you will want to stay at range and avoid his incoming AOE attacks. How to Find and Use Storm's Whirlwind Blast

Storm's Whirlwind Blast is only available through Marvel's Limited-Time Modes or from the Stark Drones, which can be found flying around the Quinjet Patrol Sites. While either method will complete the weekly challenge, we recommend obtaining Storm's Whirlwind Blast through the Marvel Takeover mode as the ability can be obtained quite quickly. fortnite-season-7-challenges-how-to-find-use-storm-whirlwind-blast-locationUpon launching the timed mode, locate the Whirlwind icon on the mini-map and pick it up. Now that you have Storm's Whirlwind Blast ability, use it when close to an opponent to knock them back. While knocked back, begin dealing damage to your opponent. You'll need to deal a total of 1,000 damage to complete the challenge. If you're struggling to deal damage to your opponents while they're knocked back, try using Iron Man's Repulsor Gauntlets as they lock onto your target and will deal damage from a safe distance.
