WandaVision Ep.1 Was Filmed in Black & White in Front of a Studio Audience
The first episode of Marvel's WandaVision was filmed in classic black and white in front of a live studio audience, as a "love letter to the golden age of television."
These new production details emerged in Entertainment Weekly's cover story for the highly anticipated MCU series, which was originally planned for a Spring 2021 release before being moved up to December 2020. In the article, it is revealed that the cast and crew took a truly authentic approach to the production of WandaVision to ensure that they captured the vintage look of an old school sitcom.
The six-episode series reunites Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany's Vision in a trippy dreamscape that seems to shift the duo through family sitcom styles of the past - from the black and white '50s/early '60s era to the groovier '60s/'70s period and the classic '80s/"TGIF" '90s. In order to replicate the classic sitcoms, Olsen and Bettany acted out some scenes in front of a live studio audience.

"It was insanity," Olsen said of her live performance for the first episode. "There was something very meta for my own life because I would visit those tapings as a kid, where my sisters were working [on Full House]." Bettany added that the cast and crew were on a "high by the end of it," as he admitted that they wanted to "keep on running the show" after experiencing the thrill of the live shoot.
The team's commitment to creating something that felt like a midcentury sitcom extended through many aspects of production, with each department playing their own unique part in the traditional setup. Crew members arrived on set wearing 50s-style clothing, make-up artists added blue to their colour palettes to make Vision appear in grayscale, camera operators used different lenses and lighting techniques to create a vintage glow, and the SFX team performed practical effects for a throwback feel.
"The show is a love letter to the golden age of television," explained WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer, whose name is credited on Marvel Studios' upcoming Black Widow movie and last year's Captain Marvel superhero flick. "We're paying tribute and honoring all of these incredible shows and people who came before us, [but] we're also trying to blaze new territory."

The show has now wrapped production, and is scheduled to launch on Disney+ in December 2020 - although an exact date has not yet been set.
So before you tune into WandaVision, grab yourself a TV dinner and surf through IGN's other stories about Marvel's six-hour miniseries — we have the latest images and plot details from EW's cover story, a breakdown of all the House of M Easter eggs hidden within the trailer, and a deep dive into the comics that might have inspired the show.

Xbox Series X/S Suffering Last-Minute Delays in UK and Canada
It's Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S launch day, but many customers in the UK and Canada will seemingly not receive the new consoles they pre-ordered for delivery today.
Following from the Amazon US announcement that some pre-orders could see delays into December, other regions are also reporting last-minute problems with their orders.
In Canada, many of those who ordered their consoles directly from Microsoft seem to have been affected by a shipment issue that has left units at a FedEx facility in Memphis, Tennessee. It's unclear what's caused the hold up, but customers have contacted IGN (and reported on Twitter) to say that that transit has now begun, but estimated delivery dates have begun slipping from a November 10 delivery to November 11. We've contacted FedEx for comment.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=confirmed-xbox-series-x-games&captions=true"]
In the UK, Eurogamer reports that Amazon UK had been sending guarantees of a launch day delivery as late as Sunday, but have now sent some customers delay notifications. On Twitter, TheGamerGuy showed screenshots of a conversation with Amazon UK customer service, explaining that some fulfilment centres have seen low stock, requiring units to be sent from further away than expected, and saying that deliveries could take as much as 48 hours longer to arrive. We've contacted Amazon UK for comment on that.
It's been a messy pre-order process for Xbox and PlayStation (although we haven't yet seen widespread issues with PS5 deliveries). If you are in the UK, some retailers have been reporting new stock for launch day, and you can check the IGN UK Deals Twitter page for up-the-minute updates on new stock.

Call of Duty: Warzone Gets Private Matches, High-Res Textures and a Potentially Smaller File Size
A Call of Duty: Warzone patch has brought a beta version of private matches to the game, added options for high-res textures, and shrunken the game's initial file size by 25GB.
The November 9 patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone has been detailed on the Infinity Ward blog, which notes that the developer has added three beta Private Warzone modes to the game.
First up is standard Battle Royale, which requires 50 players to start and offers squad variations. Players can also take part in private Plunder matches which also offer squad variations and require 30 players to start. Finally, there is also a 'Mini BR' mode which requires 24 players in one session. Those required game sizes likely mean this won't come in hugely handy outside of tournament situations, or for streamers playing with communities, but it's a step towards making the game more flexible.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/23/call-of-duty-warzone-review"]
Warzone's latest update also adds options for high-resolution textures on PC and consoles. On PC, the update adds the option for texture streaming, meaning some operator and weapon skins aren't downloaded and stored on the computer, but dynamically streamed when you come across them, hopefully reducing patch and game size as a result. The option can be turned on by heading to the Graphics option menu, and turning on the feature in the Details & Textures section.
On console, players will now be able to optionally install a high-res texture pack, although Warzone production director Paul Haile recommends that it only be used by those with PS4 Pro, PS5, Xbox One X, or Xbox Series X.
The results of those texture pack changes mean that Haile estimates the famously huge game has shrunken by around 25GB on all formats. However , if you're playing on a next-gen console, you'll probably be wanting to take advantage of those high-res textures, which likely means you're not saving much space – not ideal when you may not have that much internal storage to begin with. It's nice to have the option, at least.
Beyond the new additions coming to the game, the patch has fixed a number of Warzone bugs, addressing weapon corruption in Spectator mode, audio problems when weapons overheat and cutting exploits related to the Durable Gas Mask and Lozoff Pass Metro Station.
In other Warzone news, we recently learned that the game won't shift engine when it welcomes content from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - even though Black Ops Cold War is using a different engine.

AEW Planning Console Wrestling Game, and Wrestling Management Game
Fans of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) have reason to celebrate as there are multiple AEW games in development.
As reported by HeelByNature, AEW's Tony Khan confirmed that an AEW console game is in the works alongside another that will let players take the role of a general manager.
“We’re making multiple games, we’re working on more than one game” Khan stated. “We’re going to cater to different platforms, we’re going to cater to different kinds of games, and different interests. We’ll put a title out that’s a console game, that is best in class, we’re really excited about it, there’s some’s [sp] big surprises to come in 2020, I just can’t say that enough, there’s still time in 2020.”
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-top-10-wrestling-video-games-of-all-time&captions=true"]
In August 2020, AEW quietly launched a Facebook page named All Elite GM that was quickly changed to AEW Games. The following month, AEW filed the trademarks for both All Elite Wrestling General Manager and Elite GM. These were "filed for use in game software, including mobile phones, handheld computers, and mobile gaming devices."
“We’re going to put something out that’s for those people like myself, who love putting wrestling cards together," Khan said of the GM game. "It will allow somebody to do the job I do, be the General Manager of AEW, handbook cards.”
These comments were made prior to the launch of AEW Games on November 10, 2020, at 6pm ET on YouTube.

The Rock and Microsoft to Donate Xbox Series X to Children’s Hospitals
20 years after Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson helped unveil the first Xbox to the world, he is once again teaming up with Microsoft to give away Xbox Series X to children's hospitals around the U.S.
The Rock announced the news on Twitter, and shared a video explaining how he, Microsoft, and Gamers Outreach would be gifting 20 children's hospitals one of a kind 'ROCK XBOX Series X' consoles that will allow "50,000+ kids" to experience the next-generation of gaming.
As detailed on Xbox Wire, these consoles will be put in specialized Gamers Outreach Karts, also known as GO Karts, that are "portable kiosks built to easily provide recreation to children who are unable to leave their rooms in hospitals." These special edition Xbox Series X consoles feature Johnson's Brahma Bull logo and include a special engraved message that says "Keep smiling and have fun. Love, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson."
