Jumanji Creator Lands Movie Deal with Fox

Jumanji author Chris Van Allsburg has landed a movie deal with 20th Century Fox.

Deadline reports Allsburg and his producing partners William Teitler, Ted Field, and Mike Weber have agreed to a production deal with Fox, which will see the studio develop several projects based on Allsburg's past work, and his future books and ideas.

This deal follows the success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which has grossed over $800 million at the worldwide box office and is now one of 2017's top-grossing movies. Allsburg has had two other novels of his adapted into films before: the 2004 animated movie Polar Express and 2005's Zathura.

Monster Hunter World Director Reveals Nerfed, Favorite, and Most Difficult Monsters

Monster Hunter World released last week to great acclaim – we gave it a 9.5, and it shipped 5 million copies in just three days. To celebrate Monster Hunter World’s launch, executive director and art director Kaname Fujioka flew to San Francisco for a fan meet-and-greet. The next day, he kindly stopped in to IGN's office to make an appearance on Up at Noon, and to play Monster Hunter World with us for an hour – where we had the chance to ask twenty-three questions.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Comic Adaption to Include New Material

This May will see the release of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi six-issue comic book adaption from Marvel Comics, which will include never-before-seen material. While no details were given about what the new content will be, a Marvel spokesperson told IGN that it will be brand new material created just for the comic as opposed to deleted scenes from the movie.

It will be written by Gary Whitta (co-writer of the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and writer on the Star Wars Rebels animated series), drawn by Michael Walsh (artist of Star Wars Annual, Hawkeye, The Vision), colored by Mike Spicer, and have covers for Issues #1 and #2 by Mike Del Mundo.

Abrams’ Sci-Fi Drama Gets Straight-to-Series Order at HBO

HBO will be the home of J.J. Abrams' new sci-fi drama series Demimonde.

As reported by Variety, the show got a straight-to-series order from the network. The show is described as "an epic and intimate sci-fi fantasy drama."

Plot details are still largely under wraps, but it was previously reported the series will follow a family who is in a terrible car accident, leaving the mother, who is a scientist, in a coma. Her daughter then combs through some of her mother's experiments and ends up in a different world where she must battle an oppressive force.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life Delayed to April

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life has been delayed.

The news came in a tweet by the Yakuza Game account, which posted a statement announcing the new release date of April 17. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life was previously slated to launch on March 20. The delay will give the studio "more time to line things up for launch," and was described as a "tough business decision" the studio "didn't make lightly."

Before then, players will be able to go hands-on with Yakuza 6: The Song of Life on February 27, when a demo will be made available. The save data can be transferred over to the full version at launch.
