Rainbow Six Siege Dev Defends Limited Run Loot Boxes
Rainbow Six Siege will be rolling out loot boxes for a limited run, and brand director, Alexandre Remy, has stepped in early to defend the decision.
The loot boxes will be a part of the Outbreak event pegged for March 6, and will be available to purchase alongside the existing free alpha packs that reward players with cosmetic items.
"I feel like the loot boxes act like the gift shop after the rollercoaster," Remy told MCV. "I am feeling very empathetic towards players upset with this, but at the same time I do not feel we are cheating anyone, I don't think we are being greedy whatsoever."
Diablo Creator Shares Thoughts on Diablo 3
David Brevik, the co-founder of Blizzard North and creator of Diablo, recently shared his thoughts on the latest entry in Blizzard's critically acclaimed action role-playing series, which was released well after his departure from the studio.
"I think that Diablo III ended up being a great game, especially after the expansion," Brevik said on the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered. "I thought that they added a lot of really great stuff to it that fleshed it out and made it a much better game than I thought that it was at launch," he said in regard to the expansion content.
Star Trek: Discovery Season 1 Scorecard
The first season of Star Trek: Discovery ended on Sunday, and audiences, as with many Star Trek shows before it, find themselves facing a mixed bag. We should recall that this was also true of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation: While it introduced a cast of indelible characters that would eventually prove to be more than worthy successors to Kirk and company, the storytelling was slow, and the tone was shaky. This also goes for Deep Space Nine, a show that struggled to find stories for its first season but hit a pretty powerful stride a little later. Voyager and Enterprise also started shaky, and eventually found their feet. Arguably.
Discovery has had 15 episodes to prove itself, and like its forebears got a lot of stuff right and a lot of stuff wrong. The highs were high and the lows were low, and it's time to consider whether or not the season was, overall, a net gain. Spoilers, of course, follow for the season.
Star Trek: TNG Is Returning to the Mirror Universe
In last year's hit comics miniseries Star Trek: The Next Generation – Mirror Broken, IDW gave us the Mirror Universe version of the TNG crew. We're talking buff Picard here! Ever since, fans have wanted to see more tales about this twisted version of the Next Generation team. And now, IGN can exclusively announce that they're getting just that with a new story arc called Through the Mirror.
Unlike that previous arc, Through the Mirror will be a five-week event in the month of May. And while last year's story took place solely in the Mirror Universe, this time around the Prime Universe TNG team will be crossing over with their Mirror U. counterparts.
The tale is written by Scott Tipton and David Tipton, who also wrote Mirror Broken, with each issue featuring a different artist. J.K. Woodward, who did the art on the previous series, is creating connecting covers for all five issues of Through the Mirror. Each issue also features a backup story illustrated by Woodward.

Guilty Gear Creator Says the Series Is “Too Complicated”
Guilty Gear creator, Daisuke Ishiwatari, has said that the next game in the series will have simpler mechanics to pull in more players to the fighting game's audience
"After releasing Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 it's clear what we need to improve on. The key is to win over more users because of the complex controls," Ishuwatari told Destructoid.
"But if we implement everything the game will no longer be Guilty Gear. It's hard to balance out all the improvements. One thing that we have to do in the next installment is to reduce the number of systems
Rainbow Six Siege Won’t Get a Sequel
Rainbow Six Siege's player base has been growing, and as the game reaches an audience of 27 million, the developer says it has no plans for a sequel. Instead, it plans to continue to support the game for 10 years, with the goal to reach 100 operators.
"We've communicated already a couple of times about how the vision of the game is to bring it to 100 operators," said brand director, Alexandre Remy at the Rainbow Six Invitational 2018.
"Today we have 36 operators. Year 3 will bring eight new operators.
is not only a symbol, but it's a testament of the longevity that we want to put in the game. Again, we are claiming extremely loud here, there is no sequel planned, and we are here for the next 10 years, so expect more Rainbow Six in your life for quite some time."
