The Best Space Opera Movies (That Aren’t Star Wars)

Let's be honest here: When most of us think of space operas, we're really thinking of Star Wars. And with good cause! Star Wars took the oft-maligned genre of the space opera - essentially, an adventurous melodrama in set in outer space and/or on distant planets - and found just the right way to take it seriously. George Lucas took the fantastical locales, costumes and weapons from the old Flash Gordon serials and filtered them through World War II "men on a mission" films (complete with space Nazis), epic samurai dramas and Western fantasy tropes to create a world that was both alien and lived in. You can really believe in the world of Star Wars. That's why it endures to this day.

Yes, Tom Hardy Voices Venom in the New Trailer

Tom Hardy is pulling double duty in Sony's upcoming Venom film, as both journalist Eddie Brock and the voice of the titular monster.

When the second trailer dropped following a footage presentation at the Las Vegas-based CinemaCon event, some audience members seemed to question whether the deep, gravelly voice of the symbiote was an entirely separate actor. Nope, that's still Hardy doing his thing. The actor has a history of including distinct voices in his roles. He voiced a Storm Trooper in Star Wars: The Last Jedi last year with an odd Southern drawl that was cut from the film, and who could forget that Bane performance in The Dark Knight Rises? Check out the finally revealed Venom voice in the trailer below:
