My Hero One’s Justice Nails Quirks for a Fun, Imbalanced Fighting Game

If there were to be an overpowered character in a My Hero Academia video game I’d assume it’d be All Might (he deserves it), but, to borrow the words from an onlooker, it seems someone on the development really likes Ochaco Uraraka. From what I played in my E3 demo, My Hero One’s Justice does a great job of adapting characters’ Quirks for fun moves, but certainly needs some balancing and a steadier frame rate.

A quick note: there are spoilers for villain Quirks in My Hero: One’s Justice, which is something I didn’t really expect going in. If you’re not caught up on the My Hero Academia anime, you’re definitely in spoiler territory. And even if you are caught up, some villain Quirks that haven’t been shown in the anime are revealed through gameplay. This preview is spoiler-free.

Cyberpunk 2077 Doesn’t Look Like The Witcher, But It Does Look Incredible

Six Years after its first reveal, I have seen a live demo of Cyberpunk 2077, and it looks like everything I was hoping it would be. A beautiful and sprawling RPG set in an alternate future that sits somewhere between Dredd, Blade Runner, and The Fifth Element.

The biggest surprise is that the gameplay is almost entirely first-person. With a helluva lot of guns to fire and damage values popping up as your bullets hit enemies, the combat plays out more like Borderlands or Deus Ex than it does The Witcher 3. There are tons of abilities to use during combat, including bullet ricocheting and a bullet time slow down that came in handy quite a bit during the 45 minute demo I saw.

Why Spider-Man PS4’s Web-Swinging Feels So Good

Nearly every piece of media featuring Spider-Man wants to nail the sensation of just how fun it must be to swing around as the webhead. Because, boy, does it look like he has a lot of fun, and, thankfully, I absolutely had a blast playing Insomniac Games’ PS4 Spider-Man E3 2018 demo.

From my first swing, the demo made it evident immediately that Insomniac wants its web-swinging to be easy to grasp but multifaceted enough to allow for an enjoyable level of improvisation. Much like with Insomniac's Sunset Overdrive, I always knew another, platform or wall would allow me to continue my momentum.

This is a Peter Parker who knows his way around the city, and who’s been traversing its building tops for a few years now. I wasn’t quite as graceful as Spidey should be in my first few swings, but Insomniac has assembled a variety of web-swinging mechanics that soon made me feel exactly like Spider-Man...or at least, how I imagine he must feel.

The update also displays information on where friends are mid-game, if they’re currently in a match or available for matchmaking, what party playing, and other information that individual game developers decide on. Steam users can also create unique group chats.

Next Xbox Consoles Reportedly Coming in 2020

Microsoft will launch the next-generation Xbox in 2020, according to a new Thurrott report.

In the report, Thurrott also reaffirmed the earlier rumor that Microsoft has codenamed the project Scarlet, and that the codename refers to "a family of devices," not a single console. Scarlet (or, as some publications are spelling it, "Scarlett") is supposedly "multiple pieces of hardware" releasing in 2020.

While Microsoft is yet to confirm its next-gen hardware's codename or launch year, Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed Sunday that the company is working on an Xbox One successor. He also seemed to preemptively confirm the scuttlebutt that Scarlet will take the form of multiple devices.

Ridley Plays Fast and Vicious in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Entering the E3 show floor, I knew I had an appointment to see and play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate later in the day - but upon spotting a hidden line to go play Smash Bros. on the main stage, I knew I couldn't wait that long to try out everyone's favorite nemesis: Ridley. I've been a patient man - Sakurai said Ridley was too big for Smash and I believed him, knowing one day my dark wishes would come true. Since I often played as certain slow and heavy characters like Ike and Ganondorf, I was very intrigued to see how the behemoth space pterodactyl felt when unleashed upon a hapless foe.

I only had a few rounds with Ridley, but I can tell you he's no Charizard. His flame breath can either expelled in single bursts like Mario's fireball, or charged up to unleash a flurry of faster moving fireballs that can reach a much wider arc, or drip down from ledges onto opponents below. His smash attacks have a ton of power behind them, and weren't as slow as I was predicting, though a clever player may want to feint into his wonderful tail jab special move that can pierce and disorient an opponent before following up with a smash attack.
