Cuphead Construction Sets Coming From McFarlane Toys

McFarlane Toys is giving a first look at its upcoming Cuphead construction sets at San Diego Comic Con this week.

The officially licensed Cuphead sets are slated to release in 2019, but McFarlane Toys is showing off prototype versions of the construction sets at its SDCC booth. The sets "range from around 100 to 300 pieces" and recreate locations in and around Cuphead's Inkwell Island setting.

The sets "focus on Cuphead, Mugman and the game’s iconic bosses," and maintain the "hand-drawn 1930s art style" of the game.

McFarlane construction sets have previously focused on licensed animated properties such as Rick & Morty and South Park, but there are also sets for the Game of Thrones Iron Throne room, as well as sets for The Walking Dead.

Marvel’s New Spider-Man Comic Brings Fan’s Bitter Emotions Back to the Surface

Warning: this article contains spoilers for Amazing Spider-Man #1!

The past few weeks have certainly been eventful ones for the Spider-Man franchise. Writer Dan Slott ended a 10-year stint on Amazing Spider-Man, paving the way for a relaunched series featuring writer Nick Spencer and artist Ryan Ottley. The new creative team wasted no time making Peter Parker miserable in issue #1, including stripping him of his doctorate and journalism career and making him a pariah in the superhero community. But undoubtedly the biggest development in Amazing Spider-Man #1 involves the return of one element many fans assumed they'd never see again - a romance between Peter and Mary Jane. The question is whether this familiar love affair is a positive development for the series or merely a chance for Marvel to make headlines by reviving old controversies.

Destiny 2: Nathan Fillion Replaced by Nolan North in Final Cayde-6 Appearance

Nolan North has taken over the role of everyone's favourite Exo for Destiny 2's third expansion, The Forsaken.

Nathan Fillion has not reprised the role of Hunter Vanguard, Cayde-6, in the upcoming Destiny 2 expansion, The Forsaken, saying he was "unavailable" to provide the voice of the doomed Exo. Nolan North has stepped in to fill the role, making this the second time he has taken over for an actor in the series.

Back in 2015, North took over the role of Ghost in Destiny, re-recording Peter Dinklage's lines. The Game of Thrones actor's performance had received its share of criticism, but Bungie explained that the reason for the switch was due to Dinklage's availability.

Rugrats Gets TV Revival and New Feature Film from Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures have announced that they will be bringing back the '90s children's television series Rugrats with a 26-episode order and a live-action film featuring CGI characters.

Both the TV series and movie will continue the adventures of characters such as Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie, and Angelica. These new stories will also "introduce a new world of characters."

“Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures,” said Sarah Levy, COO, Viacom Media Networks; and Interim President, Nickelodeon. “What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”

How Cyberpunk 2077 Benefits From Its Tabletop Origins

“Steal from the best, but admit you did it.”

As a veteran designer for both tabletop and digital games, this is the advice that Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith offered new game designers during a recent interview with IGN. He expounded, saying that “You’re not going to invent it all yourself - you’re going to learn from other people.” While this is certainly excellent advice for newcomers to the world of game development (or just running their own tabletop RPG session), the idea also bolsters my faith in CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, and reminds me of how important it is that Cyberpunk 2020 (along with several other versions of the tabletop RPG) came before it.
