Aquaman’s Classic Costume Shown in New Movie Footage

Director James Wan showed Comic-Con attendees a lengthy sizzle reel of footage that will not be released to the public during the Aquamn movie panel Saturday. The footage ended with a hero shot of Jason Momoa in the classic gold-orange and green costume his DC Comics counterpart wore.

Here's a rough breakdown of what that extra Aquaman footage revealed:

  • Shot of a lighthouse in a snowglobe...Atlana and Tom Curry falling in love and having Arthur. Kidman goes back into the sea after he’s born. "You are the bridge between land and sea."
  • Adult Arthur and his dad in a bar talking about his special nature.
  • Grown Aquaman, goes to a sub, Mera telling him to take his place as king

Cloak and Dagger Greenlit for Second Season

Revealed at SDCC, Marvel's Cloak and Dagger - starring Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph - will return for a second season on Freeform.

The series, about two teens from very different backgrounds who find themselves burdened by and awakened to newly discovered superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another, will be back with 10 all-new episodes in spring 2019.

The premiere episode of Cloak and Dagger was Freeform’s No. 1 series debut in two and a half years, accumulating 4.4 million viewers across all platforms according to the new L+35 ratings this week. There are currently two more episodes left to air in Season 1.

Exclusive: Aquaman Funko Pop! Vinyl Animated Short Movie

Funko and Warner Bros. have produced a four-part series of animated short films inspired by the upcoming live-action Aquaman movie and Funko Pop! Vinyl figures.

You can watch "Lost Relic," the first of these four shorts, right here at IGN by playing the video embedded below.

The four-part series aims to celebrate Aquaman and the underwater world of Atlantis. In addition to Aquaman himself, the animated shorts also feature Pop! Vinyl incarnations of Mera and the villainous Black Manta.

The animated short was unveiled at the DC Entertainment booth at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 21st, as the cast of the live-action Aquaman movie did an autograph-signing session with fans.

Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Daughters of the Dragon Marvel Digital Originals Revealed

First revealed Wednesday on IGN, Marvel Digital Originals (MDOs) are digital comics that focus on heroes made popular to the masses on TV. The first title among them was a relaunch of Jessica Jones and was joined by the already-running Cloak and Dagger, and now three more are joining the lineup: Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Daughters of the Dragon team-up series featuring Misty Knight and Colleen Wing.

MDOs are double-sized digital issues (40 pages) that are released once per month, with every three issues forming a complete story. While they don’t come out all at once like a Netflix show, the accelerated pace of release is meant to cater to those who discovered these Marvel heroes on TV and want to binge their comics in big chunks. After completing a story arc, each series will be printed and sold in comic shops.

Nicolas Flamel Explained: Who Is the Ancient Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Character?

With the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald happening this week, a character known to fans of the books has now made his live-action debut after showing up in the trailer for the film this past summer. Black Lightning Season 2 Promotes Villain to Series Regular

The CW's Black Lightning has moved up Jordan Calloway from his recurring role as Khalil Payne to a series regular for season 2, according to The Wrap.

Director Salim Akil announced the news during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. Calloway will take over fully as his DC Comics alter-ego villain, Painkiller in season 2.

“I’m thrilled to have Jordan upped as a series regular," Akil said. "He was a great asset to our show in the role of Khalil/Painkiller during season one, and now that he has evolved into Painkiller, I can’t wait for you all to see him in Season 2."

Shazam! Trailer Shows Hero’s Origin Story

Shazam! premiered a new trailer at Comic-Con today.

The trailer opens on Billy Batson, a young child, going into foster care. Another child jokingly warns him that he's being placed with a tough family. While riding the train home one day, Batson hears a voice tell him he's been chosen. The train opens into an icy cave, where a man with bright white hair asks him to say his name. When Batson laughs at the name Shazam, he is transformed into an adult (Zachary Levi). The suit imbues him with extraordinary powers, including super strength. The trailer also gives us a glimpse of Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong), the main antagonist in the film.

Wonder Woman 1984 Footage Screened at Comic-Con

Director Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine showed the first footage from Wonder Woman 1984 at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. The DC movie has only been filming for less than a month but the filmmaker was able to put together a sequence of Wonder Woman in action to show off to fans.

The sequence takes place at a shopping mall with Wonder Woman dropping into the food court much to the astonishment of a little girl. Diana tells the child to hold tight as she slides her across the food court floor into the arms of a giant plush teddy bear, which makes the girl giggle.

Wonder Woman then confronts a pair of gunmen, snatching the guns out of their hands and destroying them with her bare hands. The gunmen turn to run away and Wonder Woman uses her magic lasso to rope them both together. She then takes off running, dragging them both behind her as she leaps off the balcony onto the mall floor before, leaving the gunmen tied to the balcony.

First Wonder Woman 1984 Footage Shows Off ’80s Style, Action

Warner Bros. showed off new closed-door footage of Wonder Woman 1984 during its SDCC panel today, featuring plenty of '80s style, and a whole lot of action.

The trailer starts with Wonder Woman in her outfit in a mall. A little girl watches as Wonder Woman faces off against two men with guns. She saves the little girl and easily defeats the two. She uses her lasso to tie them up and then jumps off a balcony and swings away.

The footage cuts to Wonder Woman running through the streets super fast as a crowd of people stand by with old cars and watch.

“One of my favorite things about making the first movie in World War I, 1917, was getting to know the era. There was something about that time that was such the beginning of modernity," said director Patty Jenkins. "Here, I grew up in the 80’s.

Season 11 Comic Series Announced for Adventure Time

The adventures of Finn and Jake in Adventure Time will continue in BOOM! Studios' season 11 comics, according to Comic Book.

BOOM! Studios announced the series at their panel on Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con. The comics will be released in stores this Oct. starting with Adventure Time Season 11 #1.

Eisner Award-winning writer Sonny Liew and artist Marina Julia will be bringing the new stories to fans as Finn, Jake and others meet new friends and find new adventures.
