Joss Whedon Pleased With How Avengers: Infinity War Diverted From His Thanos Setup

At the end of the first Avengers movie, fans were given their first glimpse at Thanos, who smiled knowing that by challenging the Avengers, he was courting death. This was a reference to the comics where Thanos is obsessed with gaining the favor of the Grim Reaper-like figure of Death herself. The tease was purposely ambiguous, but it did imply that we might one day see Thanos chase the affection of Death like in the comics, with some fans even theorizing that Hela, Goddess of Death, might fill that romantic role. But those who have seen Infinity War know that they went a completely different route. We talked to Avengers director Joss Whedon about how he felt seeing the Russo brothers take the Mad Titan in a different direction.

Joss Whedon Explains Title of His HBO Series, The Nevers

IGN talked to Joss Whedon at Comic-Con 2018 about his upcoming HBO Series, The Nevers. The show is set in the Victorian era and features a group of superpowered women. But what does the title mean? Is it name of a superhero group a la The Avengers? Not exactly. Turns out it’s a reference to how these super-powered women are viewed by society.

“They, themselves are not called that in the show,” Whedon explained. “It’s a phrase that’s meant to evoke a sort of reaction to their oddity, to what is considered unnatural. The idea that you should never be like this, you should never have existed. Something is not the way it should be, and you don’t have the right to have whatever weird power or ability or that you have. And that idea, that some people are not of the natural order, is fascinating to me. I don't agree with it. But to me, it’s one of those things where you take something negative, and you wear it as a badge of honor, basically. Certain things could never happen - they’re happening. And the people they’re happening to are taking their place in the world.”

Fortnite: Epic Responds to Cheating Accusations in Yesterday’s Summer Skirmish

Accusations against the winner of yesterday's Fortnite Summer Skirmish competition has led Epic to respond with an investigation of their own.

The Simpsons: Season 30 Premiere Date Revealed

The Simpsons: Season 30 finally has a release date. As revealed at the show's Comic-Con panel today, the series will return on (appropriately enough) September 30.

Creator Matt Groening, voice actress Tress MacNeille, director David Silverman and producer Al Jean were on-hand to reveal some tidbits about the new season. They screened a clip from an upcoming episode showing Homer gorging himself in New Orleans and then making use of a convenient vomitorium. Silverman explained that the show's shift towards digital animation makes it easier for the animators to explore these non-Springfield settings.

The panel also showcased a new teaser poster for this year's "Treehouse of Horror" special, one which looks to be geared towards spoofing movies like Jurassic World and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

DC Announces Official Name for Extended Universe

The DC Extended Universe has officially named itself Worlds of DC, according to Heroic Hollywood. Warner Bros. made the announcement at their San Diego Comic-Con panel in Hall H on Saturday.

The panel began with an introduction to the upcoming DC films by welcoming fans to the Worlds of DC - making it the first time that Warner Bros. has given the DC universe an official name.

The DC Extended Universe, also known as DCEU, has been in use for years, but was a term coined by a journalist and was never what DC actually called their film universe. This new term allows them to make movies under one brand, but have them take place in different universes so they don't have to all be necessarily connected.
