Medusa Killed Me Stone Dead in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
I’ve been handed the controller for my first taste of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in a behind closed doors demo here at Gamescom. My character Kassandra is level 50, and I’m assured the quest line I’m about to experience is indeed very late in the game. My task is to track down the ‘Writhing Dread’, a mysterious and much feared monstrosity on the island of Lesbos currently residing in the bowels of the nearby Petrified Valley, one whom has recently stolen the daughter away from a local. That ‘Writhing Dread’ I’m about to find out, is more commonly known to her friends as Medusa.
As far as first looks at games go, this isn’t just being thrown into the deep end. This is like being sparta-kicked into a bottomless pit.
Captain Marvel to Make MCU Debut in Marvel Prelude Comic
Captain Marvel isn’t coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe until 2019, but Marvel is prefacing the film with a prelude comic starring Nick Fury and Maria Hill.
As reported by CBR, Captain Marvel Prelude #1 was among the advanced solicitations for Marvel’s November comics. Written by Will Corona Pilgrim with art by Andrea Di Vito, the issue incorporates "life-or-death” missions undertaken by Fury and Hill (portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders in the MCU) that will directly lead to the appearance of Captain Marvel.
This 32 page one-shot will run for $3.99 USD and will be released at some point in November.
HTC Announces Release Date for Vive Wireless Adapter
For anyone who's been waiting for HTC to cut the cords before taking the plunge on a Vive headset, next month might be the time to buy. The HTC Vive Wireless Adapter will arrive on Sept. 24 for $299, HTC announced today.
Available for pre-order starting on Sept. 5, the adapter will work with both the Vive and Vive Pro, but Pro owners will also need to purchase a $60 compatibility pack to use the adapter. Included in the compatibility pack is a connection cable, foam padding, and an attachment device.
“Since the first demos of Vive, we’ve known that to deliver on the best of premium VR, we wanted it to be wireless,” HTC Vive GM of Americas Daniel O’Brien said in the announcement post. Daniel also acknowledged that developing the adapter, which was first announced along with the Vive Pro in January, took time.
Gamescom 2018: More Nvidia RTX Details Revealed
Last night Nvidia yanked the curtain off its much-anticipated RTX series GPUs, and though a lot of questions were answered, more questions remain, and more details have come to light. Now that it’s the day after the marketing blitz let’s take a look at the official specs of all three of the newly announced GPUs that comprise the RTX Family, and address a few issues.
Spec Chart
To recap, the big news with these GPUs is that the Turing architecture is dramatically different from Pascal, as there’s now hardware specifically designed for ray tracing and functions associated with it. This feature is so paramount that aside from the expected clock speed and memory differences between the models, one of the biggest differences between models is the number of Gigarays each GPU can process. A Gigaray is 1 billion light ray calculations. As you go up the product stack the cards can calculate more rays, it's as simple as that.

Galaxy Quest TV Series on Hold, Will Honor Star Trek and Star Wars
The long-awaited Galaxy Quest TV series that is currently being written by Paul Scheer, has been put on hold.
Speaking to The Wrap, Scheer confirmed the TV adaptation for Amazon is being delayed due to the recent firing of Paramount TV president Amy Powell. However, Scheer is still confident the series will get made and promises it will honor both Star Trek and Star Wars.
The series will be a continuation of the 1999 sci-fi comedy which starred Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, and the late Alan Rickman.
“We want to create this kind of thing that feels like this epic sequel, but a continuation," Scheer said. "I compared it to what The Force Awakens is to Star Wars. It is continuing a story but bringing in new characters.
