Nvidia Shares RTX 2080 4K Performance Benchmarks

Be sure to visit IGN Tech for all the latest comprehensive hands-on reviews and best-of roundups.

Nvidia gathered all the assembled journalists at Gamescom today to share more details about its RTX series GPUs, including performance numbers in a handful of top titles, including 4k performance numbers. Since I wasn't allowed to do any of my own benchmarking all I have to share is Nvidia's slides, so take them with a grain of salt since these are essentially marketing materials. We'll be doing our own independent benchmarking as soon as we get the GPU series in-hand. First up are some 4k benchmarks for current games, meaning there is no RTX fanciness impacting these numbers, which provides a sense of how the GPU runs games that are out right now and compare to 2017's GPUs.

Fortnite Is Getting a “Rift-to-Go” Item

Epic Games appears ready to add throwable "Rift-to-Go" items to Fortnite, which means rifts won't be restricted to static placement in the sky. The addition will come possibly as soon as tomorrow's v5.30 update.

"A rift you carry in your pocket!" reads a tease for the item spotted by IGN in the in-game new updates panel. "Teleport above your current location and glide down."

Fortnite Rifts to Go

Rifts first began appearing in Fortnite at the start of Season 5 after a rocket exploded in the sky during an in-game event. More rifts began showing up around the map after the first one appeared where the rocket blew up. The rifts initially started growing, then they started spawning new items, before shrinking as they prepared to disappear entirely this week.

NBA 2K’s ‘Loot Boxes’ Have Been Adjusted to Comply with Belgian Gambling Laws

2K Games has announced changes to NBA 2K's in-game purchases system in Belgium to comply with Belgian gambling laws that were adjusted in response to 2017's loot box fiasco. The changes will be to the NBA 2K series' MyTeam feature.

"Specifically, we will be turning off the ability to purchase packs with premium (non-earned) currency/

," reads a 2K statement. "Gamers are still able to acquire packs with MyTeam points."

MyTeam is an NBA 2K mode in which players attempt to build the best custom team possible. One way to acquire players to build out your team is through purchasing packs of randomized cards. That loot box-type mechanic, however, would be in violation of Belgian gambling laws, which is why 2K has dropped it in Belgium.
