Dwayne Johnson’s Big Trouble in Little China Movie Won’t Be a Remake

The new Big Trouble in Little China movie starring Dwayne Johnson wont be a remake, but rather a continuation of the original story.

Speaking to Collider, producer Hiram Garcia revealed the new film will see Johnson portraying a new character rather than playing Kurt Russell's Jack Burton from the 1986 original.

"You can’t remake a classic like that, so what we’re planning to do is we’re going to continue the story," Garcia said. "We’re going to continue the universe of Big Trouble in Little China.

"Everything that happened in the original exists and is standalone and I think there’s only one person that could ever play Jack Burton, so Dwayne would never try and play that character."

Microsoft Is Interested in Acquiring Even More New Studios

Microsoft isn't done acquiring studios, and according to Matt Booty, head of Microsoft Studios, they have interest in developers that are capable of bringing "content that is a little different to what our big AAA franchises can deliver."

Speaking to Gamesindusty.biz, Booty elaborated and said while they aren't trying to hit a "quota", they do want to expand the breadth of their titles, especially content that is geared more towards Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

"I don't want to seem like we're going out to fill a quota," Booty explains. "It's not about filling a spreadsheet by any means. We will, however, have an interest in studios right now that fit this criteria of 50 to 100 people, who are making games on a two to three year cadence, and have content that we think will be of interest to our Game Pass subscribers. That means content that is a little different to what our big AAA franchises can deliver"

Streets of Rage 4 Announced

Streets of Rage 4 is in the works, publisher DotEmu has announced.

The brand new Streets of Rage title is being developed by Lizardcube (Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap) and Guard Crush Games (Streets of Fury), and will once again feature Axel and Blaze as the playable characters.

Streets of Rage 4, a direct continuation of Sega's arcade brawler series, will sport hand-drawn visuals from Lizardcube, alongside new gameplay mechanics, solo and co-op play, new stages, and an original story.

A release date and platforms were not announced yet.

Sega released the first Streets of Rage game back in 1991 and followed it up with two sequels in 1992 and 1994.

DotEmu recently announced Windjammers 2 for the Nintendo Switch and PC, coming in 2019. Windjammers 2 serves as a sequel to the 1994 sports arcade game that was remastered last year.

Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition Sells Out, Bethesda Says More Won’t Be Made

Preorder stock for the Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition fluctuated since Bethesda announced the special edition at E3, and the studio has now disclosed it is sold out and will not be making more of them.

Bethesda's Pete Hines responded to a player's question on Twitter in reference to any future availability of the edition saying, "we are making as many as possible and made all of them available. there's no way to make any more."

Hines also elaborated on the difficulty of making the special editions. "They’re not quick or easy to make. We got as many lines making them as possible in order to get them finished and assembled in time for launch. I’m sorry if you didn’t get one."

NBA 2K19 Makes a Heck of a First Impression

NBA 2K19 is just around the corner (it releases on September 11), but in the meantime 2K was kind enough to bring a recent build of the sim basketball game to IGN. They brought the Xbox One X version, complete with 4K/60fps visuals. It makes one heck of a first impression, certainly in the graphics department, and in the gameplay as well.

Check out a few first-quarter gameplay clips below. First is LeBron and the Lakers doing some ice-cold shooting (my fault!) against Giannis and the Bucks. Second is the first quarter of action between the Warriors (watch out for a healthy-in-the-game DeMarcus Cousins doing damage in the post!) battling the Rockets. Finally, the 76ers come out shooting the ball well in a quarter of gameplay against Anthony Davis and the Pelicans. Watch for the new Takeover mechanic – shown when a player's icon catches on fire – signifying the temporarily enhanced skills of that player during the hot streak. Enjoy!

Disney’s Streaming Service Is Called Disney Play

It looks like Disney's upcoming streaming service has a name.

Per Variety, Disney CEO Bob Iger has referred to the service as Disney Play. However, it's currently unclear if this will indeed be the final name for the video platform, which is launching sometime in 2019.

Disney will reportedly be losing an estimated $300 million in annual revenue when Disney Play launches next year, as the company will no longer be gaining revenue from Netflix for pay-TV rights.

Starting with 2019's Captain Marvel, every Disney film released in theaters will only come to Disney Play instead of Netflix. Ant-Man and the Wasp will also now be the last Marvel movie to come to Netflix.

Will There Be a Sharp Objects Season 2?

This story contains spoilers for the Sharp Objects finale, "Milk."

HBO's Sharp Objects finale ended on a killer cliffhanger, with troubled reporter Camille Preaker (Amy Adams) discovering that her half-sister Amma (Eliza Scanlen) was the killer responsible for the deaths of two local girls in their hometown of Wind Gap, Missouri, despite their mother, Adora (Patricia Clarkson), being convicted of the crimes.

The ending of the episode closed with Camille's horrified moment of realization (and Amma's guileless plea of "don't tell momma") before a chilling mid-credits montage revealed exactly how Amma committed the murders (and also killed her new friend Mae in St. Louis, purely out of jealousy that Camille might like the other girl better). But we never saw Amma being brought to justice, or how Camille dealt with the fallout of this horrific revelation - and it sounds like we never will.
