Emperor Philippa Georgiou is back! Well, former emperor anyway, because in Star Trek: Discovery Season 2, Michelle Yeoh’s Mirror Universe character will now be serving as a member of Section 31, Starfleet’s black ops arm. With her long history of assassination, intrigue, and arrogance, she’s perfect for the job, don’t you think?
I caught up with Yeoh at New York Comic-Con, where she filled me in on Georgiou’s new gig, her ongoing relationship with Michael Burnham, how the character feels about being stuck in the Prime Universe, and more. Read on for the full chat…

The Mandalorian: Jon Favreau Reveals Familiar Weapon
Jon Favreau, writer and executive producer for the upcoming Star Wars series The Mandalorian, has revealed an image of what appears to be the titular protagonist’s primary weapon.
Favreau posted the image of the weapon on Instagram, and though no specifics were revealed, it definitely has the same stock as the weapon slung on the protagonist’s back in the first image we received from the show. It looks to be a hodgepodge of parts with a general rifle design and an interesting tuning-fork shaped muzzle.
Iron Fist Canceled
IGN has confirmed that Marvel's Iron Fist has been canceled after two seasons.
"Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the Immortal Iron Fist will live on,” reps for Netflix and Marvel told IGN.
Iron Fist is the first Marvel/Netflix collaboration to be canceled, leaving Punisher, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage with the responsibility of carrying the torch for the streaming provider.

Star Wars Comic Writer Fired by Marvel
Writer Chuck Wendig has been fired by Marvel.
In statements in a blog post and on Twitter, Wendig, who was writing for Marvel's Shadow of Vader comic book series, as well as an unannounced Star Wars book, opened up about the firing, which he says was due to "vulgarity" and "negativity" on social media.
Wendig said, "Today I got the call. I'm fired. Because of the negativity and vulgarity that my tweets bring."
So, here’s a thing that has happened – I just got fired from Marvel. Taken off issues 4 and 5 of SHADOW OF VADER, and taken off an as-yet-unannounced SW book.
