Marvel Isn’t Even Pretending That the End of Infinity War Mattered
SPOILER WARNING: We’re talking extensively about the end of Avengers: Infinity War here. If you haven’t seen it, get out while you still can.
Let’s get one thing out of the way: No one believes the end of Infinity War will stick. With a snap of his fingers, Thanos deleted half of all life in the universe and billions of dollars of profit from potential sequels, spin-offs, and merchandise. After that snap, pretty much everyone in the theater went “Oh, so Avengers 4 is about them undoing that.”
We all know it’s coming. This isn’t some great revelation. But while that’s about as safe a bet as saying “Venom won’t be in it,” it still feels incredibly strange to see Marvel, the studio who made the bold choice to end Infinity War this way, not even trying to pretend like that ending mattered.
Hulu’s Das Boot Series Is Not a Remake
Das Boot, the eight-episode miniseries being distributed in the US by Hulu, will not be a remake of the 1981 German classic, rather it will act as a sequel, taking place a year after the original film/miniseries.
This was confirmed after IGN’s own Peer Schneider tweeted out about the series, with the production company Bavaria Film responding “It’s not a remake. New submarine. New crew. New story. We would not/will not ever remake the 1981's classic.”

Spider-Man PS4’s New Game Plus Mode Now Available
Insomniac Games has released Marvel's Spider-Man's newest updates, which add the much-anticipated New Game Plus mode, as well as a new difficulty level.
Insomniac published the patch notes for updates 1.07 and 1.08 for Spider-Man, which are now available to download on PS4. The biggest update is the addition of New Game+, a Spider-Man PS4 feature Insomniac confirmed soon after the game's initial launch.
Removed text from a PlayStation Blog post earlier this week indicated that New Game+ would give players "your unlocked suits, skills, gadgets, mods, and benchmarks from the beginning."

Halloween Opens With $7.7 Million in Thursday Night Preview Showings
The new Halloween film has opened with $7.7 million in Thursday night preview showings in North America from 3,200 theaters, according to Variety.
The 2018 follow-up of John Carpenter's original Halloween was previously expected to have the biggest opening in the franchise's history at the box office. Low estimates are expecting Halloween to bring in $45 million over the weekend, with high estimates coming in at $55 million.

Rocket League’s Cross-Platform Party System Delayed to 2019
Psyonix has announced that the release of RocketID, its system for allowing cross-platform parties in Rocket League, has been pushed back to 2019.
In a post, Psyonix called the delay a "difficult decision" while acknowledging that it originally planned a 2018 release for RocketID. The developer found a silver lining in the delay, however, and pointed out that it will now have RocketID prepped to work even with PlayStation 4 when it launches.
"The good news is that with Sony's recent announcements regarding full cross-platform functionality, we can now make additional changes to prepare RocketID for ALL platforms should we receive permission to do so!" reads the post.
Rise of the Triad Started Out as a Wolfenstein Sequel
Killing Hitler in a Wolfenstein game is about as old of a video game tradition as stomping goombas in Super Mario World. What some Wolfenstein fans may not know is there was once a significantly different kind of Wolfenstein game lying in wait, but competition between id Software and 3D Realms resulted in the release of Rise of the Triad instead. 3D Realms' Scott Miller sat down on this month's IGN Unfiltered to dish details on how a proper Wolfenstein sequel got derailed.
"The game was going to be called Wolfenstein: Rise of the Triad," Miller said. "It was going to be this continuation to where Hitler was just the puppet all along, but there was this triad, a sort of cult of background leaders who were involved with all these things. id Software was like, 'Boom, we're in on this.' We had an agreement, it was going along, and about eight months into it, they decided to cancel the agreement. They had the rights to do that. I think they felt like our game was going to maybe butt heads with Doom a little too much and they didn't want that."

On the night of October 31, 1978, Michael Myers, AKA The Shape, killed three people… and then a whole bunch of other people that same night. Or maybe it was just those first three? One thing’s for sure, his main target, teenager Laurie Strode, was his sister. Well, unless she isn’t. But what we do know is that Laurie went on to have a daughter… No, scratch that, she had a son. No, wait, a daughter!
John Carpenter’s 1978 horror classic Halloween was a critically acclaimed breakout hit and created a long-running franchise in the process. But one thing it didn’t create was an easy to follow timeline. The new Halloween film -- the third movie in this franchise to use that exact title -- is getting a ton of buzz and positive reviews, including from IGN. But those who are more casual viewers of Michael Myers and his slashing ways may step into the theater a bit confused. Just incidentally speaking, I’ve personally witnessed discussions at my local movie theater, along with a ton of online chatter, that ponders how this new movie fits in with the other sequels, especially given the events of Halloween H20 and Halloween: Resurrection (the seventh and eighth films in the franchise, respectively) and how they dealt with Michael Myers and Laurie Strode.
