No Man’s Sky: The Abyss Update Adds Aquatic Narrative, Submarine Vehicle and More
No Man's Sky's continuous stream of improvements continue today with the launch of The Abyss, a free update that focuses on underwater exploration and even adds a new story, The Dreams of the Deep.
Available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, The Abyss is the first major update since No Man's Sky's NEXT which introduced full multiplayer, a third-person viewpoint, and much more.
The Abyss introduces players to "aquatic environments with over five times more variety, new submersible vehicles, improved underwater visuals and much more."
The Abyss' new story, The Dreams of the Deep, has players exploring the deepest depths of oceans by discovering the fate of a crew that was stranded from a freighter crash by the rising tides or exploring underwater ruins to "uncover the tale of a lost soul trapped beneath the waves."
Tetris Effect Hands-On: It’s Like a Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dog
Tetris Effect is the video game equivalent of a bacon-wrapped hot dog. It is two great things joining forces to create something even better. The hot dog: Tetris, a timeless, proven puzzle game that needs no introduction. And the bacon is Tetsuya Mizuguchi, whose puzzle chops – not to mention audio-visual prowess – are Hall of Fame-worthy. I won’t go so far as to say that Tetris Effect (out November 9) is the best-ever version of the legendary block-dropping game from the hour or so I played recently, but I will confidently say that Tetris has never looked or sounded better. That should come as no surprise to anyone who’s played Rez, Lumines, or any of Mizuguchi-san’s other classics.
Nintendo Wiimote and Nunchuk GameCube Prototypes Appear Online
Prototype versions of the Wii's remote and Nunchuk controllers – initially planned as accessories for the GameCube – have appeared online, and they show that Nintendo almost got the perfect design right off the bat.
Posted on Twitter and spotted by users on ResetEra, the controllers look almost identical to the final Remote and Nunchuk controllers that eventually shipped with the Wii.
The Nunchuk in particular has the same analog stick placement as it did in the final version, while the Remote has a few of its buttons named differently. It also appears to have a slightly flatter design than the one Nintendo decided to go with.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App Hints at PC Port and VR Functionality
Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently only available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but if files in the game's official companion app are any indication, that could be changing in the future.
Spotted by Rockstar Intel over the weekend, the Red Dead Redemption 2 companion app includes file names that appear to confirm -- or at least suggest -- a PC version in the works. The file names "PARAM_companionAutoConnectIpPC" and "CommandIsPcVersion(void) 000000000166A12C" directly mention the PC, and another mentions a feature available in Grand Theft Auto V on PC.
Why The Incredibles Won’t Get a Spin-Off Movie
Will any Incredibles character ever get a spinoff? Not if Brad Bird has anything to say about it.
During a recent junket interview for Incredibles 2, we asked the director which Incredibles character he would want to see get their own movie. While he thinks any character could carry a spin-off film, he strongly emphasized that, ultimately, he doesn't want to make one.
"I don't want to do a spin-off; this is the movie," he said. "I think any character could have a spin-off; I even think the Wannabes could have a spin-off. But again, I'm not endorsing a spin-off."
Bird continued by elaborating on his philosophy. "Here's the reason: I think that we're going over the same stuff too much in general. I would love to say 'Bird has new idea!' That would be a great headline."

Fallout 76 on Switch ‘Wasn’t Doable’, Says Bethesda
Bethesda has explained that Fallout 76 couldn't come to Nintendo Switch because, after consideration, "it just wasn't doable".
Speaking at PAX Aus (as reported by GameSpot), Bethesda's Pete Hines explained:
"The Switch is something I can say with certainty that... it's a part of every conversation with every dev we have now about what we're doing going forward, because we consider it to be a viable platform. If the game will work on it, we want it to be on every platform possible. Fallout 76 is not because it just wasn't doable."
No detail was given as to exactly what wasn't doable about a Switch version, but the always-online nature of the game and absolutely gigantic world probably had something to do with it.
WWE Evolution: Live Blog and Results
It's time to Boo the Woo!
WWE's Evolution PPV represents history-in-the-making - though one could easily argue the build up to the show has been lackluster. All we can hope for now is that the matches deliver and the crowd on-hand at the Nassau Coliseum is loud, raucous, and hungry for women's wrestling.
As WWE's first-ever all-women's PPV, Evolution is a monumental and prestigious happening. Though ever since its announcement, this past July, Evolution's been grossly shoved to the side for the sake of promoting two international supershows - Australia's Super Show-Down from the beginning of the month and Saudi Arabia's Crown Jewel, happening next Friday - which more or less serve as four-hour paid tourism commercials for those countries. Yes, Evolution's been woefully underserved, often taking a back seat to all other events while also, more recently, getting stifled by the controversy surrounding WWE's decision to still go forward with their Crown Jewel event.
